Wii Fit, this is just my honest bet, sold because best buy has been pumping the mess out of it. I've seen so many of those best buy holiday ads for wii fit. People are remotely aware of it. I'm really interested in Decembers sales, see if it'll stay up there.

Poor LBP. That game is purely a victim of bad market position. Not enough advertising, the PS3 has not enough market share and the system costs too too much.

I heard the next tales game is going to be on wii. The A team will be doing it instead of the b team like with symphonia. People seem to really like Vesparia so that could be good news.

While Lindy's post is rather large and... cluttered I'll euphemistically say, I do take one umbrage with his bringing up of "performance gaps" as some sort of indicator of third party support or lack thereof.

Twice in gaming history there have been rather large performance gaps.

Recently the DS and PSP exhibit large amounts of gaps in performance.  The DS is about as powerful as the N64 (on the higher side) and the PSP can actually look better than the PS2 at times.  The Third parties are largely in favor of the DS.

More lately, the Ps1 and N64 exhbited a large power gap, with the N64 having great graphical chops in the forms of Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Rogue Squadron, Mario 64, Jet Force Gemini, and Donkey Kong 64.  These games made even the highest budget PS1 games look like pixellated garbage wrought from Satan's Anus.  Third parties favored the PS1, with a landmark announcement being FFVII announced exclusively for it.  If this is all sounding familiar, it should because the one thing the "performance gap" consoles had in common was a gigantic userbase.  This overrode any notions of demographics and what game belongs where under what style and yakkity yak yak.

And for the record "mass market" is a bad label to throw around, mainly because third parties would be apeshit crazy not to want all of their games to be "mass market."  Do you think Namco would throw a fit if Tales of Whatever sold 13 million copies?  Would that say "Dammit!  I clearly aimed this game to sell 300,000 copies to the Lebanese immigrant demographic!  What went WRONG?!"

OMG @ thw Wii #'s for November!! when is the last time that a system sold that many in a single month?

& I personally think LBP would do much better with the Wii audience. Maybe they will special edition for Wii.

This is the second highest month of a single console's sales ever.  First is PS2's 2002 December (2.7 million)...It IS, however, the highest November sales ever...

What did PS2 do in sales that November?

Looks like Wii could break that record if they can keep up demand & supply, too bad they haven't released any games that would help push demand.

BUY Wii Music. De Blob, buy it. Call of Duty, buy it. Shaun White Wii, BUY IT. The games are there, just got to FIND them. Wii owners are doing an AWFUL job of that now. It's embarrassing. I find it VERY hard to believe all these "new Wii Sports owners" will send 2 million copies of Mad World packing in Q1 09. It's not going to happen, the Wii is killing gaming and that's a fact proven by every ounce of sales data. Wii is the worst thing to happen to gaming since PSP, and it's all YOUR fault.

It might have more to do with Sony's stance on 2d games coming back to bite them in the ass.  During the Playstation 1 and 2, Sony of America did all they could to tell their audience that 2d games were bad, and that 3d games are cool.

So now when Sony tries to market a 2d game as their big seller, of course their fans aren't going to be excited for it, when Sony told them for the last decade to not care about 2d.

I think that this is Nintendo's biggest challenge right now, and I believe that it is a marketing challenge. Nintendo can reach these consumers, but they need to figure out a way to help third parties create added sales. I don't think that Nintendo should spring for high-cost strategies like TV commercials that are possibly low return, but they need to figure out a way to get the benefits of the Nintendo Channel out to consumers who aren't proactive game buyers.

If Nintendo Channel was useful--instead of being another TV commercial medium where publishers paid for ad space--then it should have a wishlist/preference function where people can specify genres, franchises, publishers they liked and get Wii Message Board updates on new media that becomes available, and possibly a Message Board newsletter for overall updates on the channel.

Plus, the trailer selection in the channel is somewhat awful; Nintendo needs to proactively coordinate with 3rd party publishers to make their promo media available and not just have the channel be 75% Nintendo content.
