TalkBack / AQ Interactive's Cubic Ninja Will Not Use Stereo 3D
« on: March 04, 2011, 05:07:19 PM »

Lets just hope that there is depth in the gameplay.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/25599

AQ Interactive's Nintendo 3DS puzzle platformer, Cubic Ninja, has foregone the use of the 3DS's stereoscopic 3D effect.

The stated reason being that the developer wanted to instead take advantage of the systems gyroscopes. It would not be possible to keep the system in the so-called "sweet spot" where you will be able to see the 3D effect while using the gyroscopes.

A representative from AQ has confirmed that the effect would not be present in the "main game." The specificity of the statement does leave open the possibility that it may feature 3D content in other areas of the game.

Iwata laughs and hints about Mario on 3DS.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/25521

Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata gave an interview to the Japanese newspaper Asahi Shimbun. During the interview he expressed the desire for the Nintendo 3DS to exceed the 140 million units that the DS has currently sold through.

A key factor in Nintendo’s plan to increase their dominance over the portable games market, is to deliver new types of software packed full of surprises for the consumer. He also offered hints at what may be next for the Super Mario franchise, stating that they are experimenting with gameplay where Mario will run into the screen and strike blocks in the air.

Iwata also commented on the encroaching smart phone games market. Stating "We're at a period where it will be difficult to keep the value of our content if we are unable to offer experiences that can't be had on Smartphones."

I played four swords both ways and enjoyed it both times. It is more fun with four people, plus some of the mini games are entertaining with others. But it is still a great game anyway. How much is it going for these days?

Oh and for the OP, if you like James Bond games maybe consider picking up Everything or Nothing.

TalkBack / Ubisoft's We Dare Brings 'Spice' to Party Games
« on: February 26, 2011, 01:03:44 PM »

Be careful where you put it!

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/25486

Ubisoft recently revealed a new Wii and PlayStation 3 title for the European market called We Dare. The game features an array of different mini games for players to compete in but with a spicy twist. The genre marker on the official website describes it as a "Sexy Party Game".

On the surface it looks similar to other mini game collections on the Wii, but to complete the various games, players will have to move and or place the Wii remote into suggestive positions. Such as one person laying over someone's lap, while the other pats the Wii remote tucked into the back of their pants. Or dangling a Wii remote between two people’s lips while they try to bite away at an imaginary apple.

Ubisoft has released some promotional video content showing some of the ‘acts’ that players have to complete, but the video has been region locked on their official Youtube channel and is available to view only in Europe and Australia. We Dare is due for release on March 11, 2011.

TalkBack / Re: Mario Kart 3DS Confirmed for 2011
« on: February 24, 2011, 06:18:12 AM »
I think the Wii entry missed out on some cool additions all because they had to go with the wheel. It would have been cool to be able to use the pointer for shooting the shells, or maybe lobbing a bomb at someone etc. I also want them to bring back the red shell mines that were featured in super circuit!

I think they should at least bring back the option for double dash. Theres no reason they couldnt balance the game to work with a mix of both single and double karts.

OH MY GOD. **** THE PRICK WHO DESIGNED THE "DEFEND NATALYA" level. OH MY GOD. EAT MY **** you *******. How are there no checkpoints in this? There are so many bad guys and half the time, even when they are shooting they don't appear on the radar. God its so bull ****. I'd take a point of the score just because this stupid level is even in the game.

EDIT: man seriously, I just rage quit so hard. Now I can't feel part of my thumb cause I god so pissed off at the controller 0_o

It is quite ridiculous... I'm playing on Operative and having issues.  Had to walk away from it... got too frustrating.  Talk about a difficulty spike.  Mainly because it seems the level is built around magnifying minor design flaws and some sort of pseudo timer - I still haven't figured it out.

Control wise, I use the Wii Remote + Nunchuck on Experienced 3 with modifications to the ADS Horizontal and Vertical sensitivities.  Doing so made aiming down the sights much more fluid.  Works well.

I dunno I did that on my first try, maybe on a harder difficulty it would be more annoying, but it is quite forgiving on operative.

Theres a bigger disappointment for Euro gamers!

The Mario Collection will only run in 50Hz.....  Can't belive a retail game from Nintendo wont at least do 60hz.
