Wow, I'm kind of impressed with Paraguay. I know it was only a tie, but it's not like Italy wasn't trying.

Same here. Italy were throwing everything at them in the final minutes. An unfit Santa Cruz probably prevented Paraguay from really going for it towards the end. As a massive Italy supporter it was a huge sigh of relief to get such a fortunate equaliser, but I feel the result was justified.

The TV commenter here said the Aussie team is too defensive, lacking in offensive power and the German team focused their training primarily on busting open defenses.

And they did that beautifully! I'm just glad it was only 4.

That Aussie didn't deserve a red card. I hope Australia manages to go through the groups phase.

It was a stupid tackle but it wasn't dangerous. A massive overreaction from the ref for sure. I think our chances of moving on are pretty slim. We can't score, in the warm up games our goals were flukey and I haven't seen a convincing, commanding performance from our team since the 2006 World Cup game against Japan and even that was only for a half. Schwarzer is meant to be one of the best keepers in the world but the second German goal was the result of his hesitation in coming of his line to deal with the cross. Terrible performance, we are horrible to watch. I'm glad I've still got Italy!

I think a taboo mode where certain words are banned for each level would be interesting.

I paid $10 (all to the developers).  I don't plan to play any of the games any time soon, but I just wanted to support the indie devs.  Plus, I needed an excuse to give more money to 2D boy.  I <3 World of Goo.

I did the same, never heard of any of the games (except WoG) but things like this and the Radiohead In Rainbows album release deserve support.

I will have to look for you. I think I have you on my friend list...

My brother's got a new account, I'm not sure why, so my old gamertag is defunct. I -think- the new one is: thisisdefeat but I've no idea on the capitalisation or even if that matters.

I think the assassinations are annoying, especially because I've done quite a few by accident which have then resulted in my death.

You have to hold the button down for like a second to do it. I can't even fathom doing it on accident.

Yeah that's what I was told, however perhaps I get overexcited or perhaps the button sticks a little because it has happened at least 5 or 6 times.

Anyway, IT TAKES TOO LONG TO KILL PEOPLE. It should not take more than a full magazine of my assault rifle to kill somebody. It's just retarded. And no, I'm not missing. All the guns are pretty much peashooters and/or the shields are WAY too strong. I think dropping the shields to about 3/4 of where they're at right now might work out.

I agree about the shields, and I think that as a result grenades have become a much more effective tool, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, more a nod to Halo 2 but in comparison the AR is quite pathetic.

Yes I've played a fair bit. I thought the jet pack would be unwieldy like in PDZ but I've found myself picking Airborne wherever possible. It makes up for the 'nerfing' of the bumper jumper control scheme.

The new Needle Rifle is probably my favourite weapon so far. It seems as though by removing the jack of all trades BR Bungie has required players to get decent with multiple weapons for different ranges, which is a positive move, although difficult at first. I'll agree though, it is basically Halo 3.5, but then they've all been minor evolutions so I wasn't expecting much in regards to change.

I think the assassinations are annoying, especially because I've done quite a few by accident which have then resulted in my death. I also don't think they are much to look at, to be honest.

My highlight so far has been a killtrocity, unmovable, killing frenzy streak on a Juggernaut mode, for an average player like me it was quite a thrill.

Maybe use L & R for hotkeys for bikes or other oft-used equipment. The platform has advanced from the GB, Nintendo.

You're both right. It isn't 'theft' per se, but it can be a criminal matter. He was looking at 5 years.

And that's probably a good thing because it will ensure that Nintendo will not rest on their laurels. We all know what happens when overconfidence strikes, ala the PS3 and n64.

What the old thread wasn't good enough for your fancy picture? ;)

The little info that was in there:

Accoding to IGN PD will be released in the NA winter in 1080p. Apparently it is otherwise a straight port.
IGN report

EDIT 9/6: Perfect Dark may not be a vanilla port after all. Electric Theatre says that:
- the dev studio (4J Studios) is the one responsible for the Banjo-Kazooie port on 360
- they are going to convert the game to 1080p
- improve the frame rate
- redo some of the textures
- Online Multiplayer for 4 players
- split screen co-op play (retained from the original)
      - not confirmed whether there is online co-op

In regards to the dual analog on Goldeneye, yeah it was preset in the control settings menu. There were a few different settings with different button configurations. I tried it but thought it was terrible. It would be interesting to go back now and try, what with dual analogue being the norm.

I think it was 10 years ago that I stopped visiting their forums.  Yeah, it was 10 years.  Glad I didn't stick around there.  GameFaqs started following in their quality footsteps just a couple years later.

Led Zep are one of the stingiest bands when it comes to licensing songs (and not just for video games), so Page's comments don't really surprise me.  I spend 10:1 time playing my real guitars compared to GH. It's feels like a fantastic achievement to learn pieces of songs and then get it all gelling together beautifully (or shabbily but I'll take what I can get!). Getting 4 stars in GH doesn't quite have the same feeing.

The Today intro is so much easier on an electric compared to an acoustic without a cutaway!

special brawl -> speed -> slow
Records aren't saved when you play Special Melee/Brawl plus slo-mo is twice as slow as the original SSB.

I'm pretty sure that Brawl does save records for Special Brawl. I thought that was changed because of complaints that Melee didn't. It was a pity that Brawl's records feature still wasn't as good as Melee's.

...and the game is in English (well, British English). It's a little difficult for the average person, but anybody who wants to play the game can.

Haha, oh you crazy Americans with your missing vowels ;)

I'm bitter about Tales of Symphonia. Although apparently it's coming towards the end of the year and with bonus PAL only features. Ok maybe not so bitter ;)

I would have gone with a hyaena-esque early life transformation as I believe the Birdo and the hyaena are related (albeit only distantly).
Care to explain that one?

Quote from: Wikipedia
One unusual feature of the Spotted Hyena is that females have an enlarged clitoris, called a pseudo-penis, demi-penis, or sometimes mistakenly referred to as a nanophallus... Early naturalists thought hyenas were hermaphrodites ...

Very Birdo like, especially what with the confusion ;)
