Web-Based Miiverse Available Now
« on: April 24, 2013, 09:45:29 PM »

Enjoy Miiverse on your PC starting right now.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/34002

Nintendo has now made the web-based Miiverse service available to all Nintendo Network users. The release of the service came during Nintendo's financial results briefing.

Upon signing into your account, you are greeted with options to visit your activity feed, your own profile, your notifications, and the various communities. You can access all of your favorite communities and even comment on other Miiverse posts.

Currently, you are unable to do the following in the web version of Miiverse; these functions are only available on Wii U:
・ Create a new account
・ Make new posts in a community
・ Create handwritten posts and comments
・ Send and receive messages
・ Send and receive friend requests
・ Follow/Unfollow users
・ Edit profiles

The application appears to use OAuth, an open login standard, which could hint at support for logging into other sites using a Nintendo Network ID in the future.

This web-based Miiverse was made available ahead of the major Wii U system update currently scheduled to arrive later this week. Nintendo is currently referring to the browser-accessible Miiverse as a Beta, suggesting that they are still actively working on this new aspect of their social network.

Dang, you need to have a Nintendo Network ID first and you can only get one with a Wii U (which I don't have yet). I had hoped to be able to get a taste of it for now.

It probably would have just been eaiser to post what you can do in the web based version.

Pretty neat.  I signed in and checked my feed.   Will be nice to see this expanded, and I can't wait for it to get to 3DS later this year.

*Edit*    This kinda also allows one to save their screenshots to the pc, that they posted on Mii Verse.  That is kinda nice.

Works like a charm on my iPhone. Maybe soon they'll have an app I can put on my grid with geek pride.

Although I did spend 5 minutes looking for the "post" button before I came here and read I couldn't make new posts. Sucks.

EDIT: NFS screenshot love

The drawings are messed up on my old ipod touch. I guess they only tested it with retina displays.

I love that with this announcement other sites have already ignored it and started complaining that you can't open Miiverse through the browser on the Wii U itself, or on the 3DS.  Some people just have to complain about everything Nintendo does.

Complaining that it doesn't work on the Wii U is ridiculous, but I think it not working on the 3DS browser is a legitimate complaint.

I randomly checked my forum profile and saw that my XBL gamertag and steam ID are linked to my personal profile on respective services.

With Miiverse going online i think we can do the same with Nintendo ID's in our profiles. Forum has has to link to

https://miiverse.nintendo.net/users/<insert-yourNNID>

Modifying forum plugin to do it should be simple enough.
