TalkBack / RE:Voice Actors Reach Agreement with Publishers

You know what, f#ck them, let your coders do the voiceovers. Works pretty well, companies like Blizzard produced fairly good stuff without hiring actual actors. Actually compared to the performances of actual actors the coders seem to be much better at the job. The actors say they deserve the pay because they only get one or two jobs a month. Well, maybe you should get a real job, then!
Oh yeah, and while we're at it, let the animators do the voices for all cartoons. They know how to talk, so they could do voice acting, right? ...Right?

I beg to differ.

Voice acting can either greatly add, or detract from a game's presentation, and using coders with no experience for the job is really a "hit a miss" decision. More often than not, a miss.

Ooh, by the way, I looked up many VAs from Blizzard's games on the IMDb. Quite a few of them seem to have a pretty good amount of VA experience.

However, I will agree that I hate situations like XIII, where companies pay barrels of money to celebrities so a few idiots can go "OMG this has David Duchovny!! BUY!!" rather than hiring  someone who specializes in voice acting, and knows how to (or at least cares enough to) deliver lines with the proper emotion and tone. The exact same thing has been happening in animated films for many many years.

lol i'm speculating that the song "Do You Want A Revolution?" by Kirk Franklin will be used to promote Nintendo's new console, as heard on this site.

I don't get what you mean by that. The original Super Mario Kart let you hop with the shoulder buttons, yet it was the only game to include the feather.
It was very useful because it let you jump over obstacles or projectiles, and create shortcuts.

Gamespot has new movies and a developer interview up, and I must say, I'm very impressed.

It looks very good in motion, and I had no idea the game would move this fast. =D

Nintendo Gaming / Ultimate Brain/Card Games to be... Online?!
« on: April 16, 2005, 10:50:04 PM »
Source: Nintendo NSider Forums OMG (Page 2, 4th post)

Take a close look at the text at the top of each screenshot. It'll show a number, followed by players online. (But why are the numbers in the thousands? @_@)
I was pretty sceptical at first, especially with it being the NSider forums, but apparently these scans are from the same DS booklet that contained the first Metroid Pinball shots.

I don't really plan on buying either game,  but if this is for real, I find highly interesting that a 3rd party as minor as Telegames would have an online DS game in the works.

NBA Courtside, imo, was phenominal.

Whoa... Are you kidding me?
The N64 versions were pretty good, but aside from graphics and C-Stick passing, how did the Cube version even hold a candle to Sega's NBA 2K series?

And you do know that EA's NBA Live pre-dates Courtside by 3 years, right?

Mandark has a more devious-sounding voice.

I personally think that Oikonny sounds much more like that pimple-faced teenager from The Simpsons.

Ooh... 7.0wned by both Bloodworth and IGN.

The number of on-rails arwing and tank levels, as well as no Warp World-like stages in this game disappoints me.
I'll still give this one a rental at the very least.

So many have said that Assault uses many remixes from the previous Star Fox games, yet all the music I've heard in the many videos I've seen has either been completely original, or remixed from Star Fox 64.

Can anyone confirm for me whether or not Assault has any remixes from the SNES Starfox?
I've always felt the original had the best musical score.

Something I've been wondering...

THQ has been publishing Rare's games on the GBA.
Now if Rare were to make a THQ-published game for DS, wouldn't they be able to use Nintendo's characters?

Appearantly this deal only applies to DS games, which is why I posted it here.

If this game has got anything similar to the warp worlds or "Out Of This Dimension", I will be very, very, happy.

To me, the Out Of This Dimension stage from the SNES Starfox is the greatest thing in video games. Ever.

The star from Super Punch-Out is indeed nameless. Well, until now at least.
I named him Joe

DeMasked being announced at or before E3 is quite unlikely.
Warp Pipe's project manager Chad Paulson constantly says so on the WP forums.
