And the way Mario keeps on running and jumping from small planet to planet reminds me of Sonic Adventure 2 where you just keep on running and jumping from platform to platform until you reach the end of the level.

I hope this game doesn't go the way of Sonic.

I wonder if this will mean less innovative 3rd party games for the Wii?

Nintendo's hope with the controller was that more people would buy it's version of 3rd party games because the games would utilize the controller.

So with the sony controller tilt and twist function, instead of making games that take advantage of the Wii controller they just port the code for Sony's over and save money and time and so Sony kills a bird with this stone.

Hmmmmm I just got a picture of the powerpoint slide that Sony used in their press conference when they gave out the numbers.

It clearly says those are WORLDWIDE SHIPPED numbers not sold ones.

I don't remember Nintendo saying their sales for 2001 fiscal year was 3.5 million.  Do you have a link of that?

Also Microsoft said they expect around 6 million consoles sold for their fiscal year which ends in June.  So for XBox to get 10 million right now they should have sold 4 million in their 2001 fiscal year and that was when they only had American sales and recently launched in Japan and Europe and during that time the GC was beating them in both Japan and Europe and before Microsoft dropped the price.

If what you are saying is true, it doesn't make sense why IGN would say it unless they are fanboys or something.

The key is nintendo's comparing MS's 8 million units (Dec 31, 2002) numbers and comparing them with Nintendo's CURRENT numbers (9.3 Million March 31st).  That's pretty much one sided.

Big N did the same thing last year when the Xbox launched in euro.  Nintendo was using current numbers and comparing them with number MS gave two months eariler.

So really nintendo isn't LYING but at the same time it's a bunch of PR BS at it's best.

It says for the month of March PS2 took 37.8% of the market, XBox 14.7% and GC 10.7%

Nintendo Gaming / Does anyone have a Gamecube connected to a computer monitor?

Well my Gamecube is connected to my PC via a TV Tuner card and a RF switch which costs extra.  The quality is crap compared to connecting it to my TV with A/V cables.  The graphics on my PC are more fuzzy and bland(probabaly because of the RF switch).  Check your monitor to see if it will accept A/V cables.

This is a shock considering the GC was #1 last month with 14,000 sold with the price cut and the release of Metroid Prime.  This is before the XBox price cut which is supposed to take place this week.

Don't bother listening to Epitaph he is an XBox fanboy.  I know this because there was another guy named "Epitaph" in the Gamepro forums who would diss GC all the time and praise the XBox.  I'm guessing this guy and the Epitaph at the Gamepro forums are the same.

Fact is ELSA released a report with Gamecube owning 2% more market share than XBox worldwide at the end of 2002 and with the huge sales in Europe that made GC sales beat PS2 sales for 1 month so far and the 20% increase in America because of Wind Waker, the gap has probably become bigger than just 2%.

I think Epitaph should look at his XBox which is in last place than the GC.

I don't think your list is correct.  According to:  http://www.gamepro.com/gamepro/domestic/games/npd_list/28560.shtml

It has the NPD list for February and no GC game made the top 20 list but two XBox games did with Ghost Recon and Splinter Cell.  So how can both Metroid Prime and Mario Party beat Splinter Cell and Metroid Prime beating Ghost Recon when neither of the games made the top 20 list?

Can I please see a link confirming these numbers?  Because I've been seeing links that say Splinter Cell has a higher spot on the latest NPD charts than Metroid Prime and Mario Party 4.  But your sales data says both Metroid Prime and Mario Party 4 beat Splinter Cell.

Notice how BattleField 1942 and Splinter Cell both won. They are both related because they are about war and terrorism and notice how 13/15 judges are AMERICAN companies and only 2 are Japanese.
Fact is if Metroid Prime had the slogan "Protecting American Freedoms" and called the space pirates "Terrorists" then it would have won.

How is the AIAS official when most of the judges are American and Japan is a big part of the gaming community and 2 out of the 3 consoles are Japanese?

Plus 4 of the judges are from companies are that are Microsoft 2nd party and 3 of them work closely with Microsoft. 7/15 judges are Microsoft allies.

I think Silicon Knights and Retro should have been on the judge list since Microsoft got their 2nd party on it too, so should Capcom since it is a Nintendo ally. They should have evened it out.

This is like the O.J trial where O.J won because of the jury selection.

I guess you can buy sucess after all.

Notice how most of these companies back Microsoft and have made deals to make games only for the XBox like Oddworld Inhabitants,Infogrames,Bioware corp and Ensemble Studios which is OWNED by Microsoft.

Basically Microsoft had 4 companies that make games only for XBox including Microsoft which is a judge too which is 5 judges on its side While Nintendo has none of its 2nd party as a judge or any allies like Capcom. So Nintendo only had 1.

While others like Sierra are hardcore PC gamers so they are more attracted to games like Splinter Cell and Activision has dissed Nintendo is the past and wants to leave the Gamecube.

So right there Microsoft already has 7 judges on their side. While Nintendo and Sony have none.

Microsoft automatically has 7 out of the 15 votes. No wonder a game like Splinter Cell which has gotten mediocre reviews compared to Metroid Prime won.

I guess money can buy you success.  lol

Uh are you saying the XBox 1 will finish in 1st place?  Because PS2 was sucessful because the PSX was in #1 place.  Since reputation of good games will get the customers.  Fact is even #2 is not good enough to get a following if the games aren't spectacular just look at the N64 and its game drought even though it was #2 and sold 50 million.  But when the GC came every dumped it.  Look at the XBox now.  Now I'm not going to say XBox games blow but according to gamerankings their games are mostly mediocre.  Do you think people are going to buy XBox 2 because the games on XBox 1 ruled???  You and I both know XBox is only #2 because of the early price cuts and free games.  GC was dominating in Europe and Japan and starting to in America until Microsoft pulled that stunt.

Do you think the same people who bought the XBox for the free stuff will buy XBox 2 for full price?  Yeah maybe if the games on the XBox were award winning.

Nintendo on the other hand have been releasing award winning games like every 2 months and I'm guessing they want to create a good word of mouth for the next console based on the repuation of the good games on the GC.  

The second reason why people want an XBox is because of the power.  Sorry but Microsoft says they want to get XBox 2 out the door as early as possible so the XBox 2 might not be as powerful as the next Nintendo system since it is coming after XBox 2 and usually the newer technology is the more powerful.  This could turn off a lot of XBox owners because a lot of them bought it because it was the most powerful hardware wise.

So in the next gen wars Microsoft will lose both console hardware and not enough good games so far.  Just like the N64 did.  But again I'm not saying this is 100% fact it is a THEORY.
