Can you switch the camera view so that it looks like you are riding them?

I  wish the Wii versions would offer save states like the 3DS versions do. Sure it's cheating but you almost have to for some NES games...  any why should they really care if you cheat in a 25 year old game?

I only use the Wii remote and Nunchuck, the Gamepad is not needed.
The review doesn't make sense...  the game is better on the Wii U but you don't recommend it because you can't take the portal and gamepad into another room???  first of all...  that is a bonus, you can't do that on the other consoles either.
Also, waiting until the characters can be used with the sensor on the gamepad is a horrible idea, that will never work right,  how in the world would you  play with characters and items sitting on the gamepad?  and lets not totally screw up character swapping like they did with the 3DS version.
Sorry, but this isn't a well done review at all.

I'm not sure I echo your criticisms about the review specifically, but I'm very happy about the wired portal.  I wasted too many batteries on the first game.

Ok, that may have been a little harsh...   I just really hated the thought of having to use the near-field communication in the gamepad, that would totally break the experience.  The review shouldn't fault the Wii U version because of potential ideas that would be bad anyway and you can't fault the Wii U version because you can't take the portal into another room with the gamepad. you can't do that with the other console versions either.  The Wii U version does everything that the others do plus more, the bonus of being able to see stats on the gamepad if you want to, etc...

I'm using my wireless Wii portal with it. It may cost me a couple of sets of batteries but it's better than watching my portal go flying off the table when the cats attack that wire  :)

You say no motion controls for Mickey?   do you mean with the gamepad or are you saying that the Wii remote & Nunchuck is not an option for single player?    if so, I may get the Wii version instead.

I'd pretty much skip all of these because I have the old cartridges but that save state feature they have been giving the virtual console games is nice!  it's the only reason I repurchase them.

What about Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2013?   2011 was actually a great game on the Wii, elements similar to Resident Evil 4...

Holy Cow!   the frame rate for the last Sonic Racing game on Wii was bad!  I thought that finally I would get a smooth game.  I'll save my money for something else,  I can't deal with poor frame rates.

Move it out East, I miss when this stuff was at the consumer electronics show in Chicago, that was a lot closer.

I wish they would release a 3DS with a 1 inch screen so the people whining about pixel size would be happy.

So Nintendo can never have a Super Mario Bros 4 in the USA?   because you know if they ever came out with a new one named Super Mario Bros 5 almost everyone in the USA would be saying hey, where is 4?

I'll be back in about 6 weeks (after E3) to say I told you so :)

For the last time, Super Mario World is Super Mario Bros. 4.

Yes... in JAPAN.  That means nothing, just look at all the Final Fantasy games numberings in the USA compared to in Japan.  the new one will be Super Mario Bros 4 in the USA and Super Mario Bros 5 in Japan.  Do you think they just now got around to regestering the domain name in honor of a 20 year old game?

Seriously, is it not obvious that the new Wii U game is Super Mario Bros 4?
lets see...  Nintendo registers a domain name for SuperMario4.com,  they they announce the new 3DS Mario game (not called Super Mario Bros 4), then they say Wii U is getting a new 2D Mario game... it's not rocket science guys

The review seems like a repeat also.  What's the point of reviewing the game if you aren't going to comment on Grobda (the one brand new game)?  instead the review wastes space complaining about stuff like how hard it is to roll Pac-Man around...   disappointing...

I bought Darkside Chronicles and have several  friends that are playing it as well...  but I am the only one that purchased the game!   the hardcore players are the people that know how to hack their Wii and steal the games...   grandma does not know how to do that, therefore mainstream games that appeal to grandma are the ones that sell!   Wii fans are destroying the Wii, not the developers!

oh yeah... one more thing...  If we are so worried about graphic resolution then why are most of us playing the Wii?   It's not the pixel resolution that counts!

Give it a break.  I love the Gameboy Player on my Gamecube!  I know we'll probably never get anything to play DS on a TV screen so I'm definitely looking forward to anything with a larger screen.  If Nintendo wants to increase the screen every six months it's okay with me!

« on: May 20, 2009, 05:29:52 PM »
The camera killed it for me. I played it for a few days and sold it.  The camera angle is annoying, it's pointing down and you can't really look where you are going unless you stop and move it up to look around.  Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life on the Gamecube was so much better, it was full 3D, not 2.5D or whatever this is.  Even Harvest Moon: Magical Melody on Gamecube was excellent, it wasn't full 3D but the camera angle was so much better.

I know the Wii isn't the fastest system out there but some titles on the Wii are a step down from their previous Gamecube titles... I don't get it....  do the programmers just not try anymore?
