the alarm can use your town's song. this means that DSiWare games can talk to DS games. Pre-existing DS games, not just ones that are designed for that.

Actually, I think that you can only program in a "town song", with presumably that same frog interface.

Yay, no S&S for the US before it hits Europe (if the announcement was accurate).

Not on the VC there isn't. Weird.

Was the first even on a system that is supported by the VC?

Though I do know some games that don't have originals. Space Empires only goes back as far as 2. The original was more of an elaborate beta from how I understood it to be and it was never publicly released.

It was released on the Commodore 64 and Sega Master System, so they had two separate opportunities to release it. Maybe it wasn't a good game or something...

Or licensing/publishing issues barred it's release.

True.

I know Breath of Fire has a similar issue since the 2nd is on the VC but not the first. Though I think that one was a different publisher issue.

Breath of Fire 1 was a Capcom game, however it was translated and published by Squaresoft.

Galaxy Force II was published by Sega and Galaxy Force was published by Activision. So it could be the publisher issue.

I would also point out the Contra series. "Super C" and "Contra III: The Alien Wars" have both been released on the VC, but not the original "Contra" (which is the one I really want).

http://www.destructoid.com/nintendo-dlc-majora-s-mask-marks-300-virtual-console-title-132531.phtml

Destructoid is reporting that Majora's Mask will indeed be the 300th Virtual Console release today.  Great choice, as this is my favorite Zelda game.  Let's just hope that the game doesn't have the massive framerate problems that the Collector's Edition version had.

I played through the first 25-30% of the collectors edition version and didn't notice any such problems.

Odd, I found it prevalent nearly everywhere in Clock Town and in Termina Field.

You're right, they need to announce a NPC version soon, so you can  buy it a 5th time.

Hey, nothing says "awesome" like having to play your Ocarina Wii Music-style.  The game randomly chooses what song you actually played when you're done jamming, so it's always a new experience!

4th version? I assume you don't mean 4th different version (as this will be the 3rd time it's been released).

I wish I could say I was excited, MM is the worst real Zelda game IMO and this is a massive disappointment for the 300th game. Super Smash Bros. is a much better game and should have had the honor of being the 300th game. At least we got 2 WiiWare games and 1 DSiWare game too. Well, I guess it's not a bad choice but I just don't like the game.

I'm not sure about the framerate, but the Collector's Edition version of Zelda: Majora's Mask would sometimes freeze up. That would be a terrible problem to plague the VC release. It also had sound issues, I hope they were sorted out too.

Note I said `copy` not `version.`

I already have:

1.  N64 version, gold cart, high definition 3D cartridge label
2.  GCN Zelda Collector's Edition, opened/played when GameCube was still promising (free)
3.  GCN Zelda Collector's Edition, unopened (Nintendo sent me a another free copy!)

MM is the best that 3D Zelda can be.  It should've been released much earlier, as soon as people got tired of Ocarina VC after 2 hours of collecting hidden rupees in the first village.
