I'd be down with some C64 action. I never played it so I would love to try some.

Come on, Nintendo, I'll buy at least $50 worth of Wii points right away if you just give me the storage solution!

You could do it like the rest of us and just throw the games you aren't playing currently at the SD card.

I do that, and I probably will end up making space for Onslaught, but there are a bunch of things that I want to play but aren't worth it to me to delete things to make room for them. As my signature says I have over 80 VC & WiiWare games but I only have room for about a dozen of them on my Wii. Part of the appeal of these is that I can just be sitting here and say "I feel like playing Donkey Kong Country 2" and be playing it in less than a minute, and having to go into the menus and swap things around takes away from that. They've already said that it's coming, I just want to know when. Even if I have to wait a while for it I want to have a date that I can obsess over.

I thought they already said it would be in Spring. If rumblings are to be believed possibly as early as February (not much longer there).

I want to get Onslaught and maybe try Last Ninja once I get some room available.

Looks like Hudson Soft has changed their mind and decided to support the VC in North America again. Their website has Bomberman '94 listed as a March release (along with Detana!! Twinbee from Konami).

Why would anyone want Bomberman '94 when Bomberman Blast is available?

Bomberman Blast uses polygons with a fixed camera view.  Bomberman '94 uses SPRITES!  The appeal is obvious. :)

Maybe its my nostalgia monster again, but movements with sprites feel better than 3-D models. But the Wi-Fi is what sells the WiiWare one.

Bomberman '94 is 700 points instead of 600 because it's an import title. This is the TurboGrafx-16 version of the game, which was never released outside of Japan (though it was ported to the Genesis as "Mega Bomberman").

Interesting. I did not know that. I don't remember which ones I played when I was young. The Bomberman series was one of the popular rental games we got from time to time se we played several different ones on the NES and SNES.

Weekends upon us, anyone have Monday predictions?
Will we get more C64 games?
I have no idea what to expect, though there are a lot that I would love to see.

There are about 15 Commodore 64 games out in Europe and not North America, so those alone are a lot of choices. Not to mention "Skate or Die!" and "Devil World" for the NES and "Mario's Super Picross" for the SNES. Not sure what we will get, but there are lots of titles Nintendo can choose.

March 2, 2009

In like a lamb and out like a lion, or vice-versa? Whether March finds you digging out from a late-winter blizzard or reeling in the spring thaw, the fun is both mild and wild at the Wii™ Shop Channel. Even the littlest lambs in your household can take part in a cool new family-friendly WiiWare™ game, while strategy-loving gamers will be roaring like lions as they battle evil foes in a classic Virtual Console™ title.

Nintendo adds new and classic games to the Wii Shop Channel at 9 a.m. Pacific time every Monday. Wii owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points™ to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets. This week's new games are:

WiiWare™

Family & Friends Party (Gammick Entertainment, 1-8 players, Rated E for Everyone, 1,000 Wii Points): Have fun with all your friends and family as you take on some very exciting challenges. This is an interactive board game for as many as eight players of all ages. The goal is to be the first to complete a series of challenges. During each turn, a challenge will be played by one or two players per team depending on the type of challenge you've been given. (Other players on your team can still help and support you). There are six different "Single" challenges that must be played cooperatively by members of the same team. Family & Friends Party can also suggest "Versus" challenges, which must be played competitively by all teams at the same time.

Virtual Console™

Ogre Battle™: The March of the Black Queen™ (Super NES™, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone, 800 Wii Points): It's up to you to defeat the Empire. It's been nearly a quarter of a century since the Zetegenian Empire first conquered the Kingdoms of Zenobia with a wrath of fear and bloodshed. You are the leader of a band of rebels who've fought to preserve the last shred of honor in this desperate time of treachery. Manage the ranks of a full-blown rebel army, complete with hundreds of characters, magic items, weapons and mystical Tarot cards. You must succeed in ousting the evil usurpers-your fate, and that of the entire population, depends on it.

I'm definitely getting Ogre Battle.

I've been wondering if Nintendo will ever release Majora's Mask on VC.

I think they may have issues with expansion pack games since N64 games have to be reworked the most also I heard Nintendo is having issues porting SNES games with the Super FX chip in them.

Ogre Battle!  **** YES!  SOLD...in a few weeks when I get paid and can afford it.   ;)

Truth be told, while I like the concept of the original Ogre Battle and the stuff it pioneered for the series I don't really like the game all that much.  I'll buy it anyway because maybe I'll like it better now than I did back in the SNES days (when the ludicrously difficult-to-manage Reputation meter just caused me to quit playing shortly after the Pogram Forest level).

But the main reason I'm buying this is to hopefully prod Square-Enix to release the other Ogre Battle games over here, particularly Ogre Battle 64 (my favorite game in the series by far).
There was a Signature here. It's gone now.

I just won Ogre Battle 64 on eBay and have been loving it to death.
I'll get this as well on my next D/L spree. Since I left my N64 at my folks house for a couple of weeks so my sister could play Harvest Moon I'll need a new Ogre Battle to tide me over 'till I get it back.

I'd buy Ogre Battle 64 if I came to VC just to support the series and hopefully convince Square to let Quest make another one.

WiiWare was sadly 'meh' again.

I would so plunk down up to $20 if Ogre Battle 64 came to the VC...that is the only U.S. released one that I do not own, and have not played.

I snagged it for $30 on eBay ($26 + $4 shipping).
There are copies appearing on there all the time. I was surprised at the number of them being listed.
In fact, with the economy in the States floundering I'll bet a number of people are willing to sell old games to earn a penny or two. Keep an eye on eBay.
