The writing is pretty funny at some parts.  Not as clever as Mario & Luigi but much more than Paper Mario.  Though honestly I remember the story more than the specific writing.  The whole game has a great attention to detail though.

As someone who can't stand RPG's, is there any reason I should check out SNES Mario RPG?

Depends what you dislike about RPGs.  There are no random battles in Super Mario RPG and the story isn't full of generic angst.  Mario can jump and move around the world pretty freely so it isn't as stiff as most RPGs.

Super Mario RPG is pretty much the least RPG an RPG can get before RPG fans won't like it.  Paper Mario is more of an RPG for people who don't like RPGs.  But if you're going to like any RPG that plays like an RPG Super Mario RPG would be it.

Perhaps I'lll give it a shot as its usually that stiffness, and random battles that turn me off.  How is the writing?  Clever?  Funny? Witty?  Mediocre?

For 1996 the writing was pretty good and the localization is good. Like Ian said Square and nintendo put an awesome amount of detail to this game. The gameplay is simple and fun, it even introduced the timing system used in paper mario and mario and luigi except it's cruder since it was the first mario RPG.

I've been working my way through a low level game of SM:RPG, and it is frustrating.  At this point, I'm about ready to give up on it, not because the bosses are too hard, but because I've been having trouble failing the experience points bonus game afterwards in attempt to lose all the exp from the battles.  I had to beat the bundt about ten times :o

It's less fun this way then I thought it would be :(

i finished super metroid, andi i'm almost finished with Super Mario RPG...

EARTHBOUND NOW!!!

also, i'd just like to say that Super Metroid was amazing from begining to end. i wish i didnt already know how the final boss plays out becuase it would of made completing it all the sweeter.
I will go back and try to get 100% completion (finished at 87% lol) and maybe even a speed run down the line, but not any time soon.

oh and finally playing this made me appreciate the prime series even more for stayin true to the metroid feel. I remember going into the depths of Norfair to fight Ridley and the music changed, i was like "Oooh OOH! its THAT song" all excited. i had no idea that Magmoor Caverns tune was from SM!

I love the music in Super Metroid! When the game came out originally I first beat it with 87% at 8 hrs 57min. I went back and beat it I got 100% at 2hrs 42min.
Awesome experience
On SMRPG I am in that town where that apprentice and sensei are.

i downloaded mega man and super mario RPG.

damn mario RPG feels good with the classic controller.

Mega Man I never played before so this is new. I might of played it from a friend or something but the memory is very faint so this is new to me. the game is hard but not in a horribly cheap way (Ghost and Goblins) so I like it.

I have NO clue what levels to go into. I got wind first and now in Electricity and that level is annoying with the ladders. That game feels right just WiiMote on its side NES style.

I have NO MORE Points left on the Wii. Oh well I'm happy.

EasyCure we are twin brothers separated at birth.

Vega I use the classic controller as well while playing the game as well.It feels great.
As you might know the main draw of the Megaman series is picking the right order. It is entirely possible to beat it without going in a specific order. Have fun on Gutsmans stage.

I am glad you enjoy it Kairon.:)
