Mario Tennis GC
« on: July 27, 2004, 10:53:44 AM »
I just took a look at this article  http://www.gcadvanced.com/article.php?artid=2841 , about the new Mario Tennis, its from Famitsu.  It looks like Nintendo really wanted this game to be really good, considering how much time they took on it.  The article doesnt give too much specifics but it does let you know that its gonna be a good game.  Does anybody know who the heck Thresea the Ghost is? She is a confirmed playable character.

Uh, I think that's just the Japanese name for Boo, but I'm not entirely sure...

From what I understand, the reason Mario Tennis had so long a development cycle was because half way through they didn't like the direction the game was headed so the scraped it and then started over from scratch.

To answer your question though, Thresea is just the Japanese name for Boo, so they are saying that Boo is a playable character. I have been told that Thresea is a play on the english word "terror," but I'm not to sure about that.

Edit: Darn, Bill you beat me to it.

Well, its good that they are making this game until its finished and not working towards a deadline resulting in crappy games.

If only they could move real fast to give us Golden Sun for GCN, that would make them even greater in my eyes.

The game looks good. I hope there are way more unlockables and gameplay modes than the N64 MT.

Yeah, in my opinion Nintendo doesnt know what they are doing with there sports titles.  Besides the recently released GBA golf game i havent seen any real story mode in a mario sports game.  There was a little in Super Smash Brothers, if they could expand on that that would be really cool.  Imagin this a tennis game with exhibiton and tournaments and addictive minigames, plus about 10 side scrolling worlds where you can control your character threw a mario brothers 3 like level.  Or else take out the side scrolling stuff and put in a mode where as you win and lose tennis matches a story line changes.  EIther one of those possibilites would be cool.

"plus about 10 side scrolling worlds where you can control your character threw a mario brothers 3 like level"

Why?  That has nothing to do with Tennis...If anything there should be an "overworld" of sorts like there was in the GBC version(at least, I think I remember this being in it)

There was something like that in the ssbm, and that had nothing to do with fighting games. Plus you could have a tennis racket as a weapon.  Well maybe its a bad idea but its better than just having tournaments
