Hello all, it's time to get started with the next and ninth Safe Words game, hosted by me, the amiable Mop it up!

This time around, I'm adding a little twist to the basic premise: When you choose a word, you also now choose a player on which you want to target with the word. If the word you chose is safe, then the player you chose is safe. If the word you chose is the bomb, then the player you chose blows up! Each player can be chosen only once per round, so everyone will still be in danger each round. You cannot choose yourself. If you are the one who has chosen which word is armed as the bomb word for a round, you are not allowed to tell other players which one you chose. I'm watching you! I'll know!

As the quote thing seemed to work fine in the last game, I thought it might be funny to have the words be quotes from NWR members. For example, Ian Sane's famous "I'm kind of a snarky bastard" seems like a good one. I was even thinking about making it so you insert the name of the player you wish to target into the quote, so in this instance it would be for example someone would choose "Mop it up is kind of a snarky bastard" if they wanted to target me. I don't think anyone would be so mean as to do that to me, but you know, just an example. I can't decide if this is a good idea or not. Thoughts, anyone?

Sign-ups will run for one week, though depending on player turnout I might extend it a few days to draw in more players.

Amiable hosting? That's not how Safe Words hosting works. What is this? We'll see how long this amiableness lasts once Pokepal148 starts nosing around the current Safe Word game....

I like the idea of inserting names into quotes. What you could do is just make the selection with blanks in the quotes for people to fill in other players names. For instance, the list could be:

"______ is the worst!"
"______ is the best!"
"______ is a pedobear cosplayer."

Then when a player selects a phrase, they insert the name of the person they are targeting. Player A would post "Insanolord is the worst!" Thereby targeting Insanolord and using the phrase. Player B would select "RABicle is the best!". Player C would select "UncleBob is a pedobear cosplayer." etc, etc. In this way, depending on the quotes you use, the statements made could be considered fighting words.

Yeah, that's what I plan to do if I use the idea. And it looks like I will use the idea!

I was planning to scour the forum and use actual quotes from forum posts, regardless of how old the posts are, but I may end up being too lazy to search very far. I'm open to suggestions for quotes to use.

One less player than last time, which already had a few less players than the time before... Where is everyone? I don't think I have the magic recruitment powers of Khushrenada, so I may just have to stick with this and hope for the best.

My magic recruitment powers are basically pm's to anyone one the forums who haven't already signed up to play and begging them to show me some mercy and play the game I'm hosting. It's pretty sad.....

That said, I'm not sure why Nuclearspeed, Triforce Hermit and Silenced are absent. Maybe a pm reminder would help. I did send one out to oohhboy for you since he forgot to sign up last game despite me sending him one. It looks like he may miss out on this one again. However, I know he also likes the traditional format so it may be a conscious decision to miss out on this one.

Otherwise, if you want to try and be daring, send out some invites to new forum users who haven't played yet and see if you can get them to join in. It's up to you of how much you want to pressure/guilt people into playing and what sort of number you'd like to achieve. Any host can do that. Maybe you can even get Pokepal148 to jump in for another game or some others who've tried this game out before. With the set-up of attacking other players, it may appeal to him to play again. If you can find a way to get over your own guilt of asking people to join up, you may be able to increase the number you've got now. That's my magical power.

I think you still have things I don't, like the power of intimidation and manipulation and such...

The problem with adding twists to the game is that I don't feel like it would be a good place for a new player to start. It's best to start with a basics rule game.

I need to get set up with the game anyway so in the mean time I think I'll leave signups open a couple more days, I've sent a few messages so we'll see if those people wander in. I'd be okay with these 8 people though as they're all pretty regular and I think I can expect them to follow the rules. Expect to start Thursday or Friday.

All right, ten players, pretty good.

I've now sorted the player list and have sent the PM to the bottom player for their choice in bomb for round 1. As soon as I receive the response, I'll start the game topic and the game will begin.

I apologise for the delay in starting the game, hopefully it won't cause a slow start.

Just make sure to send out a multiple recipient pm to all players notifying them of the start of the game and you should be fine.
