When a system that has been out for almost a year can't even manage 100,000 system sales with a killer app...it's not doing very well.

DSL     104,487
PS2    24,727
PSP    21,603
GBASP    2,299
Xbox360    1,743
GBM    1,714
GC    653
DS    273
GBA    37
Xbox    3

Yeah, 360 is dead in the water.  Blue Dragon will sell a few tens of thousands of systems, and then Wii will come out and pwn all.  He heh, well maybe not...I mean, Microsoft has a few more RPGs up it's sleeve, so there's the slight chance that this is the start of something, but I'll believe it when I see it.  Or when Square Enix suddenly announces a FFXIII port to 360.
That's my opinion, not yours.

I think it's interesting how everyone assumed that with the announcement of Dead or Alive, 360 would start selling. The console hardly sold but it had a huge penetration rate amongst owners of the console. Then everyone said the same of Dead Rising. Same result. There may be a micro-rush for a limited edition console or something, but Blue Drag isn't going to creative massive attention for 360 in Japan. Yes, essentialy every 360 owner will buy it. Even with both of them behind it though, it'll be another installment in a long line of Japanese games that everyone called "Teh great MS hope" that ultimately do nothing to prevent MS from falling further and further into oblivion.

I know, KDR. If there were 10,000 preorders then it selling less than 2000 systems would make no sense.

It still has zero chance of reviving the system.

If Microsoft really wanted to increase sales of the Xbox360 in Japan they should drop a large sack of money on Square's door step and get a port of FFXIII. Think about it who would be stupid enough to continue to go with the PS3 when they can save $200 by going with a 360 instead.

The only thing keeping Sony afloat is the extreamly few exclusive titles they have left. If they were to lose Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid its game over.

I'm still more then willing to bet that before Metal Gear Solid 4 is released we'll be hearing that a port will be coming to the Xbox360. Final Fantasy on the other hand I'm still unsure, but maybe if PS3 sales are very poor Square will port it. They have hinted that its not out of the question so who knows maybe we'll get a 360 and PC port.

I have a feeling Sony will toss them an even larger bag of cash in that case.

Hopefully the battery issues continue to get out of hand, then that bag of cash will shrink to a bag of peanuts with the PS3 logo on it.

I disagree Cap'n.

MGS 4 is intensely centered on what Kojima wants, I think, and I'd think that Hideo I-want-to-be-an-auteur-and-the-next-Kurosawa Kojima would feel his magnum opus would be "purer" on one console as opposed to having two different versions, one or the other being inferior.

Besides, MGS4 is supposed to be pumping tons of power out of the PS3. I doubt that Konami Koders would be very happy with having to build an entirely new uber-ambitious engine from scrath for the X360.

BUT...

FFXIII I CAN see mechanically being possible to switch over to the X360. After all, it's just some pretty graphics, unambitious real time play elements, and cut scenes. The problem here is whether ANY amount of many would convince Square to release their flagship titles on a system that hasn't even moved 250,000(?) in Japan in about a yead...

I disagree, Kairon.  Everything you just said about MGS4 applied to MGS2 on Playstation 2, but they ported it to Xbox anyway.

As for Final Fantasy XIII, I don't think a port to 360 is very likely, but I guess it could happen if PS3 flops.

MGS2 for the Xbox came a full year later than the PS2 offering though, and was never even released in Japan (which is a common scenario with a lot of multi-platform games for the system there).

Ya know, you're probably right. Good point. I'll bet MS offered a LOT to get MGS4 lol. I think in the end though, MGS4 will probably be ported to 360.

Substance sold like crap and Kojima has said he wants to stay on Sony.

Hence MGS3 never saw an Xbox version.

Nintendo should have a huge vault full of money like Scrooge McDuck.  I would swim in it every time I released a huge batch of DS Lites only to wind up with shortages again a week later.

At this rate, the DS Lite is in danger of not outselling the PS3 on launch week.

September's NPD U.S. game sale stats just hit and man do they look ugly for the Playstation Portable.  From August 29 to September 30 403,435 DSes were sold, but only 153,353 Playstation Portables were picked up.
