My guess on playable characters is several of the Assist Trophies from Brawl will be playable characters this time.  Since Sakarai said some of the Assist Trophies were based off of heavily requested characters that didn't make the final cut, I'd imagine several of them will make the cut this time.

For one, I'd say Little Mac is 100% guaranteed this time.  He was heavily requested for Brawl, got an Assist Trophy, and his series was recently revived and it sold quite well.  So when all of this is put together, he's the one character I expect to be 100% in.  Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if he's included in the first trailer that will hopefully be shown at E3.

Sonic and Solid Snake are videogame icons.  Any other third party characters in SSB should also be icons.  Mad World and Red Steel 2 are not in any way shape or form iconic videogames with iconic characters.  While I would consider any Nintendo character to be fair game the third party inclusions should be like a videogame hall of fame where only the best of the best get in.

Considering it's a Japanese game I highly doubt American third party characters would be included.  NCL probably wouldn't know or care who they are.

For Capcom Mega Man is the obvious choice though it would be kind of interesting to have a fighting game character like Ryu in it.  Konami already has Snake and I think Simon Belmont or Alucard or some Castlevania character would be the next logical choice.  Hell, why not Dracula himself?  I figure Pac-Man would be a given if Namco was involved.

I think Nintendo has enough characters and IPs that they could find all the fighters they would ever need. It seems like such a ploy to add 3rd party characters.

I kind of wonder if part of the reason the Mii isn't playable in Smash Brothers is because of how violent the game is in relation to the typical games the Miis appear in. I can see Nintendo being worried about a possible controversy over it.

Also, I expect a new Starfox,  F-Zero, Animal Crossing and Pikmen 3 as Nintendo's launch titles for the Super Wii. Nintendo will also use the new SSB as a way of showing off all their IPs in high definition and they will not mention a new console Mario game until about a year after Mario 3DS has had enough time to settle into the market. The reason for this is the sales of the 3DS system seems to me that Nintendo will use the title to spur sales for the 3DS. Lastly, a Galaxy 3 launch title is not out of the question, however.

Ian Sane probably didn't skip that game.  He was making a point.  The character even though he is in a good game, doesn't deserve to be in Smash Brothers.

I want characters 3rd party characters that are iconic of Nintendo...characters you would still think Nintendo first.  Mega Man, Simon Belmont are great examples.  I also want a villain from each series and LESS Star Fox characters.  Geez.

I would say Sonic should be added, but seeing how Sega refused to bring Generations to the Wii maybe Sega isn't enough of a friend to Nintendo for that.

Characters that should be in the game, or that you wish would be in the game?

I think it's the general consensus that Megaman is the biggest name on the wishlist.  I think adding that many 3rd party characters would cheapen the novelty of having them in the first place.  Having Sonic & Snake in Brawl was such a cool thing because they were a few special additions. 

Other than Megaman, I would also be good with Viewtiful Joe, or maybe even something like Haggar from the Final Fight games could be potential fun.

We all know that it will be Capcom Vs Smash Bros.  This is all in setup for Capcom Vs Namco Vs SNK VS Smash VS Cartoon Network VS Team Ninja VS Marvel VS DC VS Whoever else has ever had a fighter or a character that might be capable.

I agree that there should be more enemies. The problem with that though is most franchises don't have iconic enemies. That's why we got King Dedede, Bowser, and Ganondorf. If there are more that are just as iconic (other than Ridley who is way too big), I'd like to hear them.

I wonder what an AR Smash Bros. would look like? It'd probably only be able to work best with two players dueling it out, but it would be cool nonetheless. Especially if you could build your own stages with tissue boxes and coffee mugs.
