A Treky friend of mine Swears that the Animated Star Trek may be the best TOS Trek there is.  It is lean and cuts the stories down to essentials, and I think it is voiced by the original cast.

The point is Star Trek has always been an adventure show. So there is always a threat or a mystery and danger. The point isn’t the fighting. The point is the overall world is a hopeful positive future where mankind has surpassed many of the more trivial problems for survival and peace. Now we only have these real specific threats and problems.  But the overall quality of life is pretty stable in the Federation.

Wait you can download the Japanese SNES and NES apps from the US store?

Thanks for the information.  Yeah, that sounds boring and uninteresting.  I was taking a guess because I didn't know much of the lore around that.  Basically it sounds like Star Trek's version of the Clone Wars...it can be left with no explanation and be fine as a historical event.

Well, I think TOS always had guns because of the potential of hostility on planets and they are still an army.  I think Next Generation did a better job since Phasers didn't look like guns (Then again they might in that universe) So when carrying them it didn't seem like they had weapons.  If my memory serves there were many away team parties that never carried weapons with them, and that really fits in with Star Trek.

I think the obvious answer is Eugenics is such an evil and disgusting thing, nobody wants to touch it.  It is probably why the Wars were called that to begin with...lets add the two worst things we can think of together...Eugenics and War.  Is there any clues on what the wars were supposed to be about?  I mean the only things I can think of...is a war to either A) Purify the universe with a supreme alien species be it Romulan or Human or another alien species...heck it would be really surprising if if it was Vulcan...a single supreme alien species is only logical.  I agree, Trek should never go backwards, as interesting as characters like Pike could be...you can't put any of them at risk when you know how they die in the original timeline.  It just isn't exciting...its like watching Obi-won duel in Episode 1...you know he can't die.

I do think a short series telling how about a War and then how the Federation was able to smooth out the ridges and make a functioning optimistic universe that is the Star Trek Universe would be interesting.  Almost as interesting as a series set in the future where that hopeful federation was destroyed and people are trying to rebuild back to that ideal but the world and trust is too fundamentally broken to go back there.

I love the Trek Universe, but to me it died after Deep Space Nine.

Tetris Attack is easily my favorite puzzle game so this makes me happy.

I just cancelled my Disney Plus account.  I wasn't getting much use out of it.  I guess I will go back to using it when the Marvel shows come out, or maybe I will wait until closer to one of the movies is coming out then I can stream all the shows and then watch the movie.  seems easy enough.

I mean Disney needs to get the player running smoothly and start adding countries to the list that can show its material.  I also think Disney+ will need to evolve and be willing to add more things for adults.  But that is another thing entirely.

Oh, I understand it.  I just hate it.  I wonder about classics that I love how much better they could have been if the original vision wasn't compromised.  But you know that is just life.

160
Was?  I hate when companies change story beats and plans because of the real world.  Like Lilo and Stitch is infinitely a worse product because suits got their hands on it.  And edited the original vision.  Then the sequel to the TMNT was written and directed to make all the fights more cartoony so children wouldn't imitate the violence.  And that 2nd movie SUCKS!!!  Just release the original vision.  We can handle a little does of reality in our fiction.

Boba Felt looked cool.  Had a cool job, and he also fought the first Jedi we ever fell in love with, and captured Han Solo.  Yes, he didn't do much, but he was cool...and that is all that matters.  The problem is, rarely do characters ever live up to our own built up hype for them.

162
The Trailer could just be edited bad.  But it literally looks like it is a military space operations version of The Office.  They are going to have to nail the characters, because this won't have that instant relatability an office comedy would have.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Super Mario Maker 2 - Did anyone here get it?
« on: April 27, 2020, 07:54:53 PM »
I think you still have to wade through the crap and the good stuff.  I found a fun little game that was really simple but pleasant, the creator obviously took some time to create a lot of impressive gimmicks but overall it was just an easy like children's Mario game.

I think finding good theme games and adequate level and difficulty will be hard.  But it is worth the effort.

I have to go the Mario Kart 64.  The game has aged poorly when you put it up against the more modern Mario Karts, but that is what is supposed to happen.  Mario Kart's formula is defined and in some ways perfected in Mario Kart 64.  Mario Kart 64 has my personal favorite version of the Blue Turtle Shell, and I think a better less chaotic weapon system.  It is equally about combat and racing, which I think is lost in some of the more modern Mario Karts.

On the other side of that, some States have been closed for 3 weeks or so now.  Many small business owners can't really afford to be closed that long.  And many more employees can't be without a job for that long.  The stimulus checks are barely enough to cover needs for 1 month is pathetic, so I can see the desire to open early.

Add to that some of the countries that are doing really well in this Crisis didn't shut everything down.  I know South Korea didn't...the government advised some business to shut down and many did, but it was like for a week.  If you allow businesses to be shut down for longer than 2 months, then the only businesses left will be corporations, and not the small business corporations, but the big large ones that people don't want to gain even more power.

I don't know what the answer is, because it seems like Americans are being foolish and stupid when they go out.  Not wearing any kind of face masks, and American healthcare leaves so much to be desired that I understand not going to the doctor and just risk being sick, because of costs...so I get why having longer shut downs is important.

And yeah it does eventually come down to the dollar and money, and that is life unfortunately...because the only people that can truly afford a long shutdown are the wealthiest and they aren't suffering through this.  This isn't to say I am for reopening, I just understand why people are moving quickly to try to reopen things.

Last of the major updates. I hope they will more characters like Link. I also wonder if this map maker and the Zelda tiles from the new Zelda could be testing a Zelda maker.

I kinda wonder what would have happened if you we had a Kart Bracket, a Sports Bracket, an RPG bracket, and a misc. Bracket.  Then we would at least learn what people think are the best of the Kart games, the best of the sports games, and the best of the RPG games.

I am bummed that some of the best Mario sports games are getting voted out early.  I mean I absolutely hate sports games in general, but Mario Tennis 64 and Mario Golf 64 are some of the best absolute sports games ever.

Yeah, Harley Quinn's show is pretty good.  It seems to have a twisted but still accurate take on all the Batman characters.  I kinda take the stranger portrayal of characters as how Harley Quinn sees them.  It is so great to see that they gave Harley Quinn a good ensemble cast which helps balance her madness and tell a good story.  Also, Poison Ivy is easily my favorite version of Poison Ivy.

Strong spinoff franchises:  Mario Golf, Mario Kart, Mario & Luigi Sagas, and new entry Mario Maker.

The interesting thing is, this is about genre preference...more than quality.

Stevey: The jankiness of the animation just makes it better for meme material.  Good job.

All I really want is the show all games to be first and then the most recently played games.

I think New York is highly reliant on public transportation to get around.  If people were infected and didn't know about it on Subways will just infect everyone around them.  I also wonder about the homeless population in New York, the death toll may be higher because there are several hundred people with no insurance or not good insurance in New York?  I honestly don't know how the Affordable Health Care Act benefits everyone.

As for Italy, they are still highly touchy civilization.  Italy and Iran still greet with kisses on the side of the face.  So when it got to them it spread faster.  Iran also has several open markets that is a major form of commerce which helped spread it.

Also, since this virus attacks the respiratory system, weaker people or anyone that may already have an illness becomes weaker and more suseptible do facing the worse of both illnesses...again really attacking the weak and poor people in countries.

Community seasons are all great, and the replacements are funny because they do a lot to make fun of fans of classic characters, but also honor said fans and characters.  Also the show gets better and better when it gets weirder.
