Nintendo Gaming / RE: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
« on: May 27, 2006, 06:07:53 AM »
Well, most of the side-quests that are listed in the Bomber's Notebook take place (or begin) in Clocktown.  There are a few outside of Clocktown (the dance instructor, invisible soldier, etc) as well.  But beyond that, in the four compass areas... there were many mandatory mini-quests that had to be completed before you could even gain access to the dungeon.  I thought they were very well done.  Overall, Majora's Mask was a brilliant game - by far the better of two games Aonuma directed.  Hopefully, he'll out do it with Twilight Princess.

Sorry for the double post... I got an error message after both posts so I didn't think they went up.  Anyways, yeah, in responce to the post below.  I think you can use the GC controller in 1-player mode (it's been a long while since I've played), but the pot carrying was very annoying to me.  And I think the GBA wasn't used in a very practical way as it was in say, 4 Swords.

I thought Crystal Chonicles was pretty weak.  I hated being forced to use my GBA for everything that could've easily been shown on the big screen; and worst of all, carrying that damn pot sucks super monkey balls.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Super Paper Mario~!

Super Paper Mario is a pleasant suprise... it came outta NOWHERE!

Can't wait for this one!  I wish it was coming out in the summer though...

Also, I'm waiting for more details as far as the genre is concerned...  Some reports say it's a tried and true Mario adventure (platform) game with Paper Mario-style graphics, but I've read too that's it's supposed to be an RPG.  Judging from the movie, it looks to be a platformer with RPG elements, which is fine by me.  I'd love to get more clarification though.

There has been a lot of debate in the last couple of days as to which version of Twilight Princess everyone is going to purchase.  I'm personally gonna go on and buy both versions.  I'll play through it on the Cube first, and then I'll have at the Wii version on the second playthrough.  I'm hoping the Wii version will have a few extra bonuses... an extra dungeon maybe, an alternate ending perhaps, a super-ultra-hard mode for the Zelda masochist in me...

Speaking of difficulty...

My main concern with Twilight Princess is that it'll be another Wind Waker - an utter and complete pushover with disappointingly no-brainer puzzles and enemies that pose absolutely no challenge whatsoever.  I never had to use a fairy and I didn't even heard "Game over" piece until I bought the 2-disc soundtrack - and that's just unacceptable.  So hopefully, Nintendo will punish me.  At the very least, they should include a hard mode a la Fire Emblem to give us Zelda veterans a formidable challenge (and a nice bonus for completing the hard mode would be nice).

TalkBack / RE:PREVIEWS: Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

My only beef is that they're making the game less difficult.  I'm sure however, judging from Prime 1 & 2, that there'll be a Hard mode though...

The "Kokiri Forest" motif pops up quite a few times.  Outside the Deku Haven, Inside the Deku Haven, and on Outset Island.

Nintendo Gaming / Zelda soundtracks? Which is the best?

I'm kinda stuck when it comes to which Zelda has the best soundtrack.  I'm stuck between Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask.  I haven't gotten my Wind Waker OST as of yet, so I won't include that until I've given it a proper listen through.  I'm leaning more to Majora's Mask, becuase of its surreal, evocative melodies ("Last End", "Clocktower"), and it's zany and demented themes ("Mask House Theme", "Majora's Theme", "Ikana Valley" etc...).
