SANTA MONICA, Calif., (March 27, 2008) - The battle continues as family-friendly video games publisher The Game Factory announced today its popular Teen action-oriented franchise will return to the Nintendo DS™ system in "Code Lyoko: Fall of X.A.N.A." Boasting an exciting new storyline, multi-player modes and a unique real-time turned base-battle system, "Code Lyoko: Fall of X.A.N.A" offers a new role playing game experience and newly-designed characters. Based on the hit animated TV series CODE LYOKO, from Taffy Entertainment, players can expect fierce cyber action with challenging missions set in the CGI 3D world of Lyoko. "Code Lyoko: Fall of X.A.N.A" is set to be released in June 2008.

Their final challenge is to defeat the mysterious and dangerous Volcano Replika containing the very core of X.A.N.A.: a crater containing a number of towers one of which holds William…

... It's Code Lyoko, some crap cartoon targeted at 7-12 year-olds and it lacks good hidden adult humor like other cartoons.  Percent chance of suck is at least 50%.

Um, saying it sucks because it lacks good hidden adult humor is silly. That's not the reason the show is weak.

Here's a better explanation:
Code LYOKO  is best described as Reboot meets The Matrix. The show is about a virtual world called LYOKO who is constantly under attack by XANA, an evil computer program. It has its sights on conquering the real world. He then invades the real world and attacks it through various methods. For example, taking over the minds of rats, affecting gravity, creating a harsh winter etc.

A group of kids and Aelita, their virtual friend, go to LYOKO to combat XANA and restore order in the real world. They do this deactivating XANA's towers and returning to the past, before XANA.

The show's biggest problem is that its one of those formulaic series in which the premise is run to the ground and by the end of the story you are tired of the same song and dance routine.

Also, the show doesn't make sense in parts. For example, its understandable when XANA is able to take over powerlines and the internet because he is a program and can access those systems. But how can it control the weather and gravity? Is this program so powerful that its coding can go beyond the rules of metaphysics and pretty much alter reality at will? Most importantly, how can they return time? The LYOKO program is able to do this, but they never explain how a program can alter time.

I know this is a sci-fi show and they expect us to suspend belief but I found it to be far fetched at times.

Its good for when you are bored, and at the very least it tries to be clever and more than just another cartoon, but it crumbles under its own ambitions.
