Once again when I'm away from a computer for a day Nintendo announces something.
Anyway, it's nice to see Punch-Out has a release date, really locking forward to seeing how it turns out. Of course I wonder why Nintendo hasn't released any screens of Excitebots yet. I mean, usually when Nintendo announces a new game, they at least show screen shots right away. To announce something new that will be out shortly and not show something with the announcement just seems like they either just forgot to sent out screens or NOA is trying to troll the internets.
Why it took them so long to localize it is beyond me.
Actually it's quite obvious why they're finally localizing the series, the latest Starfy game bombed last summer in Japan. It also doesn't help that the last one before that, while not a bomb, failed to match the success of the GBA Starfy games. What makes this even worse is the fact that the DS is selling much better then the GBA did, and that ever other Nintendo series in Japan has had better sales on the DS then they did on the GBA except Starfy.
In other words, the reason Nintendo is finally bringing the series over is because it's dieing in Japan, and Nintendo probably wants to see if maybe the American market can revitalize it. This is why I imagine this announcement has more to do with NCL forcing NOA to localize the game in order to have a reason to keep one of their franchises alive, then NOA suddenly having a change of heart.
Considering how they've released 5 Starfy games in only 6 years, that shows how it's a rather important series to NCL. One that they probably want to keep around for a few more years as well.
