TalkBack / RE: New DS Colors to Come Bundled with Nintendogs
« on: September 21, 2005, 06:27:50 PM »
My girlfriend is gonna be pissed that the pink DS is coming out here... She imported her pink one from Japan.

Thank you. It doesn't need to support GameCube games... The Revolution has ports for GameCube controllers already. I'm pretty sure Nintendo won't make the Revolution controller able to work for the GameCube games, thus not having to limit themselves in any way for the Revolution controller.

Also, maybe a final render or design of the controller could be slightly smaller and more manageable. I know my mock-up is not 100% ergonomically designed at the moment. I invision that it could also include a strap to your hand so you can let go, and be comfortable, yet still have the controller in finger reach. To stop involuntary movement of the gyroscope, most tilting would rely on the fact that you're either squeezing the grip at a pressure that would be gentle, yet intentionally squeezing, or holding down a trigger button.

Also, while the gyroscopic technology is certainly good for changing the camera and aiming, why should they set limits on themselves? It COULD be used for moving around, but I'd assume most of the time not. Like in my Zelda example, the control stick still moves Link.

This is a model + theory about the Nintendo Revolution I made in my spare time. So far, the feedback on other forums has been great. What do YOU guys think about it? Can you think of any other ideas of how this technology could be used?

Nintendo Gaming / REGGIE IS ARIES!
« on: May 18, 2005, 10:31:50 PM »
REGGIE IS ARIES!!!

Today, I was at E3, and we met Reggie. One of the people that met Reggie, along with my friends and I, flat out asked the question that had been pushed momentarily to the back of my mind. "Are you really Aries?", and Reggie answered plainly and simply "Yes."

Here is a pic of my buddy Alex, standing beside the Reginator himself.

He was even nice enough to sign my girlfriend's Nintendo DS! Great guy...

So what does this mean? Maybe Revolution will be revealed tomorrow at E3? Who knows...

I sense a tidal wave of money pouring from gamers pockets to Nintendo when this is released in North America....

My girlfriend is going to be happy, but I am slightly disappointed. Why are we getting “Americanized” Nintendo DS colors instead of the stylish pastel Japanese ones? I really want the white Nintendo DS so badly; I’d be thrilled if Nintendo released it here. It looks iPod-eqsue. I don't get it... We get two colors, Japan gets five +? Shows who Nintendo is thinking of.

This is probably Reggie’s fault. Him and his talk of hip-hop ElectroPlankton. Psh…

TalkBack / RE: Pac'N Roll is Coming this Summer
« on: April 14, 2005, 11:21:37 PM »
Screw this, we need Pac-Man VS for the DS! ... Eh, no, I want this too. Give me both!

Pac'N Roll was fun when I played it at E3 last year. But they can't do the "everyone was changed into a ball" story line because Kirby's DS outing already did it! (Reccomended game, btw)

The floor plan is important to me because I go every year. It helps me plan what I want to hit, and in what order... That way my day at the show is more organized. I always use the middle day for just hopping around wherever I want, though.

Can't wait to hear what Iwata has to say. I feel flattered to live in California... all the events happening here, and all.

TalkBack / RE:New Famitsu Scores
« on: March 01, 2005, 08:13:28 PM »
I was getting these two games already, but now I'm getting them and being more excited about it.

I'm so happy for Meteos' score. Masahiro Sakurai and Tetsuya Mizuguchi (this article totally spelled that wrong o_O) seem to make an awesome team. They're both developers I really look up to. Tetsuya Mizuguchi's views on the game industry are very akin to my own. He's a great guy. And Masahiro Sakurai? Do I even have to say? ... Do I? I have one word for you. KIRBY!

TalkBack / RE: Nintendo DS Download Service Revealed in Japan
« on: February 25, 2005, 08:56:33 AM »
I think this is great. Looking at my perspective, as an owner of Daigasso Band Bros. (Jam with the Band), this is incredible. Nintendo is doing something that is going to help me get MORE out of the game I paid for... and free!

So you could, essentially, do something like download new characters or trophies for a Nintendo DS Smash Bros. (they'd have to be pre-programmed in, but this would be a way of unlocking them, giving the casual gamer the illusion that the Nintendo DS Download Kiosk is loading it into your DS) or little kiosk exclusive tech-demo games, sort of like the little Garage Games for Play-Yan... or even demos of games that are not out yet! Think about it!

I see MUCH opportunity for this. It's a step in the right direction, it really is...

General Gaming / RE:Sony admits PSP mistakes and commands users to adapt
« on: February 22, 2005, 07:56:15 PM »
"This is the design that we came up with. There may be people that complain about its usability, but that's something which users and game software developers will have to adapt to."

Kutaragi has a lot of courage to not only take a piss on the consumers, but also the developers. Seeing Kutaragi as a businessman, I can't believe he even made some of these statements. With 4,800 Japanese PSP systems being returned for square button problems, there is a serious issue here. And he is telling everyone to adapt? I actually thought the article was a joke at first.

“The Walkman only ran for about two hours when it first came out, too.” - Sorry Mr. Kutaragi, but by today's standards, that short of a battery span is an absolute joke.

"I believe we made the most beautiful thing in the world." - I'm not even going to touch this one.

"Nobody would criticize a renowned architect's blueprint that the position of a gate is wrong. It's the same as that." - Is this guy some kind of psychopath? I think the PSP is a fairly decent system and all... But if an architect makes a blueprint for a gate that leads you into a swamp, there's gonna be a problem.

TalkBack / RE: Nintendo Ships Wario Ware: Touched! For DS
« on: February 15, 2005, 09:14:19 PM »
I think WarioWare: Twisted is better than WarioWare: Touched (going by their Japanese versions)...

I just got WarioWare: Touched today, and I am really enjoying it. I am taking my time too, not zipping through the game.

Why do people need accessories like these anyway? I find that my Nintendo DS just the way it is ... works just fine.

TalkBack / RE: First Homebrew DS Game Created
« on: February 13, 2005, 06:15:52 PM »
I'm shocked about this, but at the same time, I sort of expected it. People want to experiment with doing their own thing.  There are some pretty good Mario hacks too, especially those done by Dark Dhiaz (the ones mentioned above) and a few others. These are games that with a little graphical updating, people would BUY for today's consoles as a new Mario game, and they would sell great. Why can't Nintendo just make a new freaking platformer Super Mario game already?!?

AND, this one is important-- I wouldn't doubt the idea that they got their hands on the Software Development Kit (SDK), because the Japanese web-site for the company (which I think is a division of Nintendo) called Intelliigent systems had a hidden index page where I was able to download the SDK for Nintendo GameCube and Nintendo GameBoy Advance (both of which are currently on my computer, I have proof if you really need it.) They slipped up for a while and had the "Nitro" Software Development Kit on there for a while, before they realized the public could access this and took it down.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Yoshi Touch n' Go Does Well
« on: February 10, 2005, 02:52:06 PM »
I don't get where the fun or engaging part of this game comes in. It's not a true platformer or anything, is it? Do you fight bosses? ... Or is most of it baby Mario, just falling to his doom?

I played Balloon Trip at E3 last year and it was quite fun, but not worthy of being in a game all by itself. This game just doesn't seem very meaty. Someone, please tell me there is more to it?

TalkBack / RE: Two New Patents From Nintendo
« on: February 10, 2005, 02:46:35 PM »
How could V-Pocket be Play-Yan if the article says "According to the Japanese Patent Office"...

Play-Yan is already that product's official name in Japan. Why would they patent something different? Something tells me that this is going to be a shocker. Possibly a Nintendo DS Option Pak of some sort.

I think this looks interesting, but a lot of casual gamers might be turned off by the anime art style.

TalkBack / RE: NCL talks DS Sales and Revolution
« on: February 06, 2005, 08:54:51 PM »
Is it just me or does anyone else think that Nintendo is in no position to not just blow their freaking wad of information on the Revolution at E3? It's a damned TRADE SHOW, that's what it's for. Are they gonna conceal it so long that the consumer gets hyped into a competitor's console instead?

Nintendo has various different departments that do many different jobs. That's like saying Nintendo shouldn't have a magazine because it distracts them from making games.

This idea is one of the smartest things Nintendo has done for a LONG time. Genius... In a good spot to start too. I could see this being like the Apple Computer Stores which were in select places at first, but then began to pop up everywhere because it was such a hit. This gives consumers the chance to enter a Nintendo environment and see Nintendo things that maybe they normally wouldn't pay attention to; thus bringing Nintendo back into their lifestyle. Remarkable idea, really.

Thing is, I already live in Los Angeles. Not only that, but I've reserved my Nintendo DS at the EB Games in Universal City Walk! So, I'll be there anyway! I hope to meet up with the winner of this contest and congratulate them. ^_^

I'm 17 myself. -_- If only I were 18, I'd enter in a heartbeat!
