Super Mario Kart Mafia: Day One. Luigi Circut.
« on: June 21, 2009, 06:16:52 PM »
Welcome!

And with 14 players on the starting line, this is going to be an epic.. and messy battle.

Closing time for day one is midnight EST tomorrow. This will be called by Khush.

Players List:
Stevey
Nickmitch
Stratos
Mop It Up
Maxi
Thatguy
Theperm
Dasmos
Daaaman64
Rabicle
DrewMG
Khush
Vudu
GP

RULES:
For the Red Team to win, they must defeat all the members of the Blue Team and AT LEAST HALF OF the Green Team.
For the Blue Team to win, they must defeat all the members of the Red Team and AT LEAST HALF OF the Green Team.
For the Green Team to win, they must defeat all the members of the Red Team OR the Blue Team.

All players have now received PM's. Second PM's have been sent to necessary people.
All players have three points.

FAQ:
Can I ask you how many players are on the other teams, or is that not something I'm supposed to know?
You will not know how many players are on the other teams. Feel free to determine this on your own.

How long do I have to decide who to use my item? Will I lose it if I don't use it today?
You have until the end of the day to use the item. Midnight EST. For Day One you have until Midnight EST tomorrow. If you do not use your item you will retain it until it is used.

Are item usage time-sensitive?
Yes. They are processed in order in which I receive. Green Team will jump the queue.

What happens in the event of a tie?
The person with the lowest amount of points would die.

Lets say someone has the identifier. And asks you who has the Pow Block. Does that mean that that person will find out and join the team of who has the Pow Block?
Yes.

LET THE BATTLE COMMENCE!

Do I understand correctly that the Green Team needs to be eliminated first in order for the Red or Blue team to win?  If so we need to somehow band together to find out who's on the Green Team and vote them out.  Anyone have any ideas the best way to determine this?

Half of the green team need to be eliminated for either red/blue to win. The exact number of that team is unknown (except to them).

I think there are conflicting win conditions, but perhaps I'm just not understanding them.  Here are the win conditions that you posted:

For the Red Team to win, they must defeat all the members of the Blue Team and AT LEAST HALF OF the Green Team.
For the Blue Team to win, they must defeat all the members of the Red Team and AT LEAST HALF OF the Green Team.
For the Green Team to win, they must defeat all the members of the Red Team OR the Blue Team.

The rules state that for the Green team to win either the Red or Blue team need to be defeated.  For the Red or Blue team to win they need to defeat all of the opposing team and half of the Green team.  But if half of the Green team is still around, won't the Green team win instead of the Red or Blue team?  Doesn't that mean that for the Red team to win they need to defeat all of the Blue team and all of the Green team (and vice versa for the Blue team to win)?
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

Edit:  I already need help.  Weird.  The sign-up topic mentions a Pow Block and a Star in the descriptions of the items.  Are they items too?

My guess is that the Pow Block would hit all players not on your team, and take a point/block item usage, and that a Star makes you invincible from attacks and hits anyone who votes for you the same day.  Can anyone confirm/clarify that?

Because of the amount of players this has changed. For example, for red to win, they would need to defeat at least half of the blue team. So if 8 people were on the team, 4 or less is required to win. The green team needs to retain at least half to auto-win, so if there was 10 people on their team then 6 needs to win. 5 or less and they are unable to win. (I'm making all of the numbers up).

un-vote GoldenPhoenix

My guess is that the Pow Block would hit all players not on your team, and take a point/block item usage, and that a Star makes you invincible from attacks and hits anyone who votes for you the same day.  Can anyone confirm/clarify that?

The POW Block and Star are items too. Not all items are used on the same day. A star makes you invincible to all attacks and votes for the same day, and the next one. The POW block randomises the opposing team yes, but at the same time it carries the risk that who they were meant to target will change.

Boo and Identifier are separate items. Boo allows you to swap two people of your choice (green team has this only). Identifier allows you to ask me a question, such as "Who has the red shell?" but it carries the risk of changing team.
Red/Blue team members can only have one item at a time.

I'm not too clear on the Green team, either.  They need half of their members left to auto-win.  What conditions allow for an auto-win, then?

The only chance for Red or Blue victory is when there's half or less of the Green team left.  The only chance for a Green Team win is either for both sides to lose, or for one side to lose, and there be over half left, from the numbers you stated, I believe, though I could be mistaken.  What I'm asking is this:  What happens if the Blue team is alive, no one's left on the Red team, and there's more than half of the Green team left?  According to the rules, the Green team would have won, but the Blue team would still have a chance to win, if they can kill enough of the green team.  Is that how it works?

Edit:  Alright, if you have an identifier, and you want to win this game, send me a PM.  It's that simple.

If there's nobody on the red team then green wins. Red/Blue need to keep at least half to be able to win. Green need to stay above half.

So, for example:
If Red/Blue has 10 and Green has 4.
Either Red or Blue would be out of the game if their team drops to 5. Same applies to Green, but they must have three or four (they have a smaller team, but need to keep more people to win and have less items to do it with).

If you are Red, half of the other team and more than half of Green. The same rule applies if you are blue.
If you are Green, half of either Red/Blue. But just the one team. (This is what i mean by auto-win, red/blue may have defeated each other but green is hiding away and wins by surviving)

I'll say it a second time, in case anyone missed it:  If you have an identifier item, PM.  If I can get PMs from everyone with an identifier, I'm certain I can make sure that anyone with the identifier can win, provided that all players, dead or alive, on the team win.  However, it requires cooperation.

Stratos-     3
Mop_it_Up- 2
Khush-       1

But that's just a quick glance.  Stratos has an important item for one of the teams, though, so I would back off from him, and go after someone else, really, until we've gotten a chance to figure out a bit of things.  Seems a bit early to kill someone who hasn't pointed a load of fingers at someone else, doesn't it?  Mop_it_up was the first to attack the guy, though...

Mop it up has had a rolling, pent up Vendetta that has been simmering since the end of the first mafia game. I've apparently been an agent in Mop it up's demise in most of the previous mafia games we've played together.

I retracted the vote for Stratos so now it looks like this:

Stratos-     2
Mop_it_Up- 2
Khush-       1

What happens in the event of a tie? Unless both players survive then somebody had better throw a vote my way before the day ends.

I should point out to everyone that you need to PM me to say if you wish to use your item. Secondly, if applicable, you would need to PM me telling me if you will use it offensive or defensively.

We don't know that yet. My intuition tells me it is you but usually it is wrong when it comes to this game.

What I'd rather do is vote for those who don't show up to vote. I know some of the players have come online today but haven't posted in this thread. Non-participation shouldn't be a winning strategy!

A three way tie would just lend the results out of the hands of the public, and into the hands of whomever used some items.  It'll close off information.

Well, now you've done it, Mop_it_up.  You done gone and given me reason to vote for you, real reason, as flimsy as it is, it's all I've got that's legitimate.
