General Chat / RE: WW not holy enough? What?
« on: September 06, 2003, 10:51:53 PM »
I know this thread started out about a Christian website review on Zelda WW but it has turned into something else entirely. From what I have read most of you seem to be pretty honest about your views on God and/or religion and such. I notice alot of you have said you often question yourselves about God and whether he exists or not. This is completely normal even for those beggining to learn and embrace Christianity. You have every right to strive for an answer to any question you may have. Especially religion and its practices. I don't think every Christian or so called Christian always knows how to introduce Christianity to others. It mostly always comes off as a turn off to others and I can see how this may turn some people away, like some of you.

As a Christian myself I can't see ignoring this thread now I have read it. There are so many posts I don't know where to start. Though I invite anyone who has any questions about God or Christianity to please PM me, or post a message. I really want to share my beliefs with anyone who seeks answers. I hope some of you will respond. PM's are welcome. and God Bless.

There was a real story just like this. It may even be that one but I don't remember the page looking like that. Anyways, it did happen and the guy ended up giving the money back in the end after the bank had harrased him. It wasn't fraud either because he didn't endorse the check. He only deposited it. It was pretty much a big mistake on the banks part and the moron company that made the check.

General Gaming / RE: SNES issues

my guess is either the cable contacts on your SNES are dirty or something electronic has gone bad in your SNES
try cleaning the SNES video contact with rubbing alcohol and a q-tip and see if that works, just a guess

General Gaming / RE: GTA:vice city performence PC
« on: June 21, 2003, 09:54:37 PM »
Just for the record GTA3 wasn't made very well for the PC at all. Vice City is much different. It runs like a totally different game. You shouldn't have any problems at all with your setup. You could prolly get away with 1024x768 on high quality.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: *sigh* GameCube finally hacked.
« on: June 17, 2003, 07:06:26 PM »
There is a program out that can open a gamecube iso (such as the zelda one) and extract files from it. They have already taken menu banners from some games and converted the graphics. It is the picture that shows up for the game when you enter the gamecube setup.

I have also heard that people using the PSO trick have been able to successfully load up the Action Replay and play around with that.

The gamecube has a long way to go before back-ups work on the sytem. As far as I know the GC cannot read dvd-r media so you would need to alter the hardware(possible the laser) or add additional hardware just to get the machine to read the it. Along with that the GC bios data seems to be embedded inside the flipper chip. I'd imagine the Panasonic Q being a much easier target. Although the user base is much smaller than that of gamecube consumers.

Nintendo has done an excellent job securing its console from piracy.

Power Rangers was a giant ripoff of Voltron. Voltron was much better of course.

As for this movie it better have some good CG if it wants to do good. Alot Better than beastwars cg anyways.

General Gaming / RE: Xbox vs PC
« on: June 10, 2003, 07:05:28 AM »
Theres no way MS will win against PC gaming unless they make a keyboard and mouse for a console and make it upgradable. Doing that basically makes it a PC anyways. Most PC gamers highly value their mouse and kb, especially for FPS games.

General Chat / nVidia vs ATI

I have had a lack of respect for nVidia ever since they were caught cheating on 3DMark 2003 scores.

General Chat / RE: I just got a Voodoo 2!
« on: May 18, 2003, 10:51:17 PM »
I know what you mean Grey Ninja. My first 3D card was a Diamond made Voodoo 2 12MB model. I remember buying the OEM version for $212 online. To this date it is the best video card I have ever owned. For the money I paid for it and the length of time it lasted was well worth it. Not to mention it was widely supported back then.

As for the TNT's, the Voodoo 2 graphics always looked much better, especially for Quake 2. If you had 2 Voodoo 2's hooked up in SLI they would easily beat out a TNT. Sure it costed alot for SLI but it was the fastest thing out for a long time. TNT only marginally beat the Voodoo 2 speed wise, but the Voodoo 2 still looked better on screen.

I do miss 3DFx. Probably because Quake 2 was one of my favorite games and it ran awesome with Glide.

speaking of ugly, you still haven't responded to my reply on your NWN thread, now thats ugly

If I wanted a high resolution "handheld" I'd buy a PocketPC. I already have a Palm and I don't like the PalmOS at all. And if I want to play portable games i'll do it on my GBA.

General Gaming / RE: neverwinter nights
« on: May 05, 2003, 11:21:48 AM »
NWN is based off the Dungeon & Dragons playing rules. It's a diagonal view game like Diablo. Everything is quick turn based, so its not exactly a hack and slash game. What I mean by quick turn based is every attack, spell casted, or move is queued up on a list and it will do each one of those after the next one is completed. Because of the D&D rules healing just requires you to sit down and rest to gain back all your life. This only takes several seconds. This is the same for spell casters. You are allowed to memorize a certain ammount of spells for each spell level. Once that spell is casted you cannot cast it again until you rest. The magic system is not based on mana. So as a caster you will be sitting ALOT.

Multiplayer is alot of fun if you play with some friends. Downside again though is if you are a pure caster based class you will find yourself resting alot or just following along casting a spell every now and then. If anyone in your group is fighting anywhere in the current zone you cannot rest and you must wait until they stop fighting or they leave the zone. There are 4 major maps that are all part of the story when you play multiplayer. Although you cannot go backwards to previous maps once you advance to the next. The Dungeon Master part of the game can be very fun if you have someone who is good at it. Basically someone acts as the controller of the game and they can spawn monsters/npcs/rocks/trees/items etc. The Dungeon Master can create a custom story which others can play live.

The story for this game is not bad. Theres alot of modding being done to the game. There are already custom maps you can download and play. Custom maps, items, npcs, etc. are very easy to create. You can create your own custom map and items and multiplayer host it without people needing to download it. All in all I thought this was a fun game except for the pure magic casters classes.

Nintendo Gaming / Gamecube memory card backup and questions...

I believe he is correct. Imagine it similar to a PC 3 1/2in floppy drive...when it reads/writes don't take it out.

The game may not run well with a higher latency though(just because it wasn't designed that way). Hopefully Nintendo will make it flexible though. I'd really like play with some friends via the net. I can already vision Nintendo brand crossover cables in the store.

How long have you had your gamecube and when did the problem start? If you've had it less than a year it should still be under warranty I think.

Never knew they were sold for so much. I know they are cheap on e-bay...but lots of stuff is cheap on e-bay. I guess you could get decent trade in value on it, even though I'd never do it. Now, I'd like to have the newer top loader like frozen-solid has. I hear thats rare to find and even worth more than a regular NES.

I still have my original NES stored in the attic. It's really not worth much at all maybe $10-15 max? The sentimental value of it is worth more than that. I'd rather keep it and give it to my kids when Im older.
