Nintendo Gaming / App market
« on: April 06, 2011, 03:20:05 PM »
Has there been any word on whether Nintendo has even considered allowing an app market a la Android and the iPhone? If they did, it could very easily be the first and final nail in the coffin of iPhone gaming, though knowing Nintendo I very much doubt they've even thought about it.

Oh yes. It's coming, and when it does, it shall be glorious. Personally, I'm hoping the single-player campaign will have co-op functionality, because I'm not sure if I can slog through Epic Setpieces: Modern Warfare by myself. Naturally, I'm eagerly awaiting news and real information about the multiplayer, but my understanding is that the beta is starting up sometime soon, so I guess we'll know then!

$10 on Steam, on sale for the first week for $7.50.

Another one of those "audiovisual experience" type games. It's a top down shoot 'em up in the same vein as geometry wars, only all the stages play differently (mainly in how your weapons fire) based on what song you play.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IoePn7iMQg4

I can't tell if this guy is just really good, or if this is an easy song, because I played on nothing but hardcore for like three hours after I bought it yesterday, and I only cleared like two songs, and only one of those was a perfect. I tried some Infected Mushroom, but they have such a tendency for buildups that explode into absolutely nothing that I'd be left with two huge scary bosses to fight and the music takes a dip and I have no guns!

A lot of fun, hard as hell. Haven't tried easy or normal yet. Don't know if I'll bother.

I doubt anybody cares, but I can't resist making threads for games I'm excited about.

Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QDJ7-OUPMto

Trailer definitely looks interesting, but based on what they've said   about the game so far (third-person cover mechanics, regenerating   health, experience upgrades your augmentations and weapons instead of   skills), it's probably going to end up being just as much of a   lackluster follow-up as Invisible war was.

I have literally no hope for this game so if it sucks, I won't be   disappointed. That said, I still can't wait until it's released so we'll   finally KNOW.

Wow, comes out tomorrow and no thread yet! Better get one up!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSIkVak4otY

I've been itching for this game ever since I first heard about it in Game Informer a couple years back. The bazillion guns is a big selling point, but my main attraction to the game is that it's basically Diablo with guns, and it looks to be doing it much much better than Hellgate: London did.

Anybody else picking this game up? I probably won't get it until later this week or next week, but I'll be looking for people to play with (better loot woooo). My XBL name is Shralla.

General Gaming / Eternal Silence
« on: October 15, 2009, 02:17:00 AM »
Probably a long shot, but Eternal Silence is a sweet space combat mod for Half-Life 2. You destroy the enemy corvettes then storm their capital ship on foot. It has a bit of a learning curve but is very satisfying once the curve is passed, though most people don't get that far and leave, so it's not very popular. Pretty much anytime before midnight EST you can find a full server though.

You can also find it on Steam.

with the addition of much-improved textures, a boosted framerate and, in the biggest undertaking for Rare IP on XBLA yet, online multiplayer functionality over Xbox Live.

I can't wait.

This game doesn't have a thread yet, so I just made one on account of they just announced it'll be coming in October for Japan, and January for western markets, a decision that I don't really understand.

in b4 anybody complaining about the sex appeal in the game

Looks pretty sweet to me. I'm in love with the melee combat. It looks fluid and awesome.

General Gaming / New Xbox Experience (NXE)
« on: November 27, 2008, 02:07:51 AM »
What does everyone think of the NXE so far? I can't say I'm a big fan of the UI. Compared to the blades it seems clunky and unnecessary. However, I love the ability to easily access media on your computer.

The avatars aren't very good, especially when put up against Miis, and I honestly don't even know what they're used for.

Nintendo Gaming / They should make a Smash Bros. RPG

Remember how awesome Super Mario RPG was? Imagine that only with dozens of different Nintendo characters to form your party out of. I'd play it.

Nintendo Gaming / Stage Builder
« on: March 12, 2008, 04:34:47 AM »
We need a stage builder thread, so here it is. I'll post some stages I made eventually, but first, a question...

I unlocked all the stage builder parts, but there was a part in yesterday's (the 10th?) stage that I don't have. It was a sort of vertical gazebo looking thing, that you could walk through, but also stand on top of. wtf was that?

So when the hell do we get more information about this? I don't care about the DS game or some stupid city building game. Crystal Bearers actually looked like it might be less fail than the original. Anything new about this since that trailer at all?

Nintendo Gaming / My Wii hates me 2.0
« on: January 23, 2008, 06:36:53 AM »
So I got my Wii back from Nintendo today, just in time to play No More Heroes, only to find out that the problem wasn't actually fixed. They replaced the disc drive, for lord knows what reason, and I still have the overheated GPU graphical artifacts problem. So I just got off the phone with Nintendo (again), and I'm sending it back (again), and hopefully this time they'll fix it.

Nintendo Gaming / Nyko Wii remote battery pack in Wavebird
« on: December 31, 2007, 09:22:34 PM »
I received a Nyko Wii Charge Station for Christmas, and finally got around to hooking it up and whatnot today. I had previously been using batteries out of my Wavebird in my Wii remote, so when I went to put the battery pack in the Wii remote, I put the batteries back in my Wavebird. Upon doing so, I noticed that the shape and layout of the Wavebird and Wii remote battery slots were identical. Being of the curious nature that I am, I tried putting the Nyko battery pack in the Wavebird, and it fit! Then I tried turning it on and using it, and it worked!

You can't put the battery cover back on the Wavebird with the battery pack inside, and I don't know how useful it would be, but just figured I'd share that little tidbit.

Nintendo Gaming / My Wii hates me
« on: December 02, 2007, 03:20:43 PM »
Some of you may remember me reporting some funny graphical glitches in my Wii a few months ago, which cleared themselves up overnight. Well I finally picked up Mario Galaxy today, pop it in my Wii, start playing, and lo and behold, there arestrange lines and blocks all over the screen. Sometimes they're harder to see than other times, but they're always there. I'd almost call them artifacts, like in a JPG, only scattered randomly about the screen as opposed to being clustered around objects. They're blocks and lines of discolored pixels, mostly red and green from what I can see, and they're never really in the same place all the time.

EDIT: Also clusters of darkly colored pixels, mostly in vertical lines, and very noticeable on the green of the grass.

EDIT2: Also they show up en masse on bright white scenes, such as when you first talk to Rosalina.

Does this sound familiar to anyone? A product of the GPU overheating, maybe?

Nintendo Gaming / It's been a year...
« on: November 22, 2007, 02:35:48 PM »
And Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection still sucks. I mean sure, Check Mii Out, the Wii Shop channel, the Weather Channel, and all that are cool. But I don't CARE about any of that. Friend Codes are still the most unnecessarily retarded creation of all time, barely any games even have online play, and the ones that do are completely lackluster. And Friend Codes wouldn't be HALF as bad if WE COULD JUST USE OUR GODDAMN WII CONSOLE CODES UNIVERSALLY.

Yes, Nintendo. I realize you're worried about the children. But you need to realize that taking care of kids isn't your goddamn job. It's not YOUR fault if their parents are retarded.

No wavedashing, no wavelanding, no L-canceling, Fox is nerfed, Peach is nerfed, Bowser is insane, and the entire game is slowed down.

MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Nintendo Gaming / More Wii issues from Dirk
« on: September 05, 2007, 10:37:06 AM »
I have one old and one new issue. The old issue is something I've suspected for a while, but never confirmed until recently, which is that my Wii can't send or receive messages, except from Nintendo. I've tried it with multiple people over the last few weeks, and nothing's come of it.

The new one is a graphical issue. Well, at least I think it's new. I didn't notice it until I plugged my Wii into my mom's HDTV with component cables (I imagine just due to the increased size, and probably the progressive scan). There are these little sort of gray-ish lines/areas scattered about the screen. They're not very pronounced, and hard to notice unless you're looking for them, but as you can imagine, it's still quite irritating knowing that they're there. Has anyone heard of anything like that happening to a Wii before?

Nintendo Gaming / Disc Read Errors? On MY Wii?
« on: July 12, 2007, 09:12:33 PM »
It's more likely than you think.

I haven't played my Wii in a while, as in actually playing a disc game on it. Probably about a month or so. I went to play Wii sports today, and it said it couldn't read the disc. I swore loudly to myself, knowing what this probably meant, before ejecting the disc, checking for scratches/dust, etc. and reinserting it. Still no luck. I tried another Wii game. Same thing. Tried a Gamecube game. Same thing. Swore more loudly.

So now I'm going to call Nintendo tomorrow afternoon, see what I can do. At least I'm still under warranty. =/

Nintendo Gaming / This drought is killing me

There's absolutely nothing out that I have any interest in until the end of July. I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE. MUST HAVE NEW GAMES. How is this drought effecting you?
