Which sites can you get 64x64 GIFs no bigger than 20 kbs?  I want one for my profile so it can appear above my name whenever I post.
I got some killaz on my payroll.

Quick question, not to sound stupid or anything, but how can I get one on my "own personal webspace" so I don't get banned?

www.sigup.com

You can host an avatar there, no joining up or anything.

As for 'finding' 64X64 gifs, make your own. Get yourself a nice picture, and chop and resize to your hearts content!
MS Paint can resize and all that.

If you would like, I could probably host avatars as well on my school webspace.

gosh thats bull..dont insult paint....paint and photoshop have completely different purposes....paint is quick and simple...its hella easy to cut things out of. Photoshop has all the cool effects..there are some disadvantages...use both. For my avatar i used flash and exported it to photoshop and i saved it in msgif editor. i made a revision on the photo so i used paint to export and help me resize the picure then i reexported it to photoshop so i could have just the right size without heavy distortion.

Personally, I don't like to use Paint for anything that will get scrutinized on the web.  I use it for saving screenshots, and that's about it.  It doesn't give you any options when saving for optimizing your picture.  I like to produce the highest quality picture I can get with the lowest filesize.  Photoshop will allow me to do that.  With Paint, you save and hope to god it doesn't look like ass.

Quite frankly, Paint is for kids. It's was okay in Windows 3.1 when no one knew any better, but with tons of freeware and even shareware/commercial ware out there there's just no excuse. i don't know why MS doesn't just assign one of their programmers to update it a bit; it's an embarassment to Windows.

If anyone is having trouble getting their pic below 20k, or if you have it below that and want it smaller, email it to me (aoi_tsuki64@hotmail.com). Even images 10k and below can usually be cut down even further, which saves load time.

If an MS programmer beefed paint up it would end up as a sold seperately program like Office

a good reason to use both is to have a graphical mastery..i rmemeber back in the dos days....we didnt have all the cool graphical stuff we have now..so i learned to do things pixel by pixel. I drew this entirely in paint

Personally, I don't know HOW to make an avatar greater than 20k.  Mine sits at 2k I believe, and it's about as big as the forums allow.  I suppose if you wanted an animated gif as an avatar, it would be easy to get to 20k, but I still think that's ridiculous.

grey Ninja: i goofed -- i'm extremly tired right now so i can barely do simple mental math, but i don't think it's possible to make a 64x64 bitmap over 20k. Lessee, 64*64)*4096=16,777,216 bytes or 16,384kB. So i guess even an uncompressed bitmap couldn't get above 16k.

ThePerm: Excellent work. i saved the pic so i view it on GIFshow next time i'm on a DOS box. ^_^
