Like I said, I just can't anymore. While they clearly have a building goal that they are sticking with, but I've grown too accustomed to the no-stakes game, terrible villains, and forced comic plotlines

Agents of SHIELD is the answer my friend. especially when you get to S4.
Season 4 is the best thing about the MCU so far, and it's all contained to AoS s1-4.

First Look at Brie Larson as Captain Marvel (in costume)

I'm assuming all the green is to be computer enhanced later.

The green is most likely a nod to the Mar Vel (original Captain Marvel) costume, which was green.

So I watched Ironman 3 w/ my daughter.

She made it about halfway before she decided to take a nap instead.
she passed out about 10 minutes before the action started to kick off, and was very uninterested in going back to watch any of it when she did wake up.
Personally I liked it, but it did have a lot of dialogue heavy sections, and she was just not following what was going on...... now I'm just hoping she makes it though Thor 2. I don't remember much from it outside of the ending, and like most of these movies, it'll be a first time rewatch for me.
But she loves Thor and Loki... so it has that going for it. Mew Mew has a good scene in too. ;)

Speaking of Mew mew.

I do wish they brought Darcy back for Ragnarok.  I always enjoyed her in the first two movies.

The James Bond of superhero movies... you seen nothing like this in a superhero movie
100% African and Dope AF
MBJ (the villian) deserves an oscar..... brought to tears over his message and performance
1st Marvel movie with real purpose and identity

The amount of praise this movie is getting is pushing the HYPE through the roof.

just knowing that it has a deep touching story with a real message and a political voice neatly wrapped in a Marvel Big budget CG Action Superhero costume, is like finding the biggest and best burrito you ever had, and finding out that it had more than all the daily nutrients, vitamins, and proteins you need, and eating the entire thing is not only healthy, your doctor would recommend it.

I know these are just early impressions, and obviously they are gonna be full of praise, but even the ones that stated what issues they had with these types of movies and even this one specifically, still gave great praise in the end.

Marvel's The Dark Knight
I wish everyone would stop invoking The Dark Knight when making comic book movie comparisons. It’s lazy and almost always false. Black Panther can just be Black Panther, an excellent movie that stands on its own merits.

Anyway, Antman and The Wasp trailer looked good.

Whoa whoa. Captain America: The Winter Soldier was Marvel's first film with purpose.

Then they contracted the Russo Brothers to suffer for infinity.

Anyway, I'll just say this. "A Marvel film getting good critical response? What a shock!" I am extremely happy that the casting and talent is here with this film, but let's not forget that these films are concentrated, safe, crowd-pleasing affairs.

That Ant Man and the Wasp trailer looked utterly devoid of charm or personality.

I watched Thor: TDW w/ my daughter.

Now I know this movie gets a lot of hate, mostly for wasting a good actor on a villain that barely did anything and an enemy force that was mostly just faceless cannon fodder, but it really wan't that bad.
Actually, my daughter quite enjoyed it to be honest.
From the disappearing keys in the wormhole, Portman getting infected by the Aether, the circle of rain, the trip to Asgard, Loki changing appearances (Cap Cameo!!), Thor losing a hand, Loki dying.... Thor's mother dying, the big battle, the intern slamming the car down on the enemies, Mew Mew looking for Thor. She actually was attentive and engaged the entire movie.

so as a recap so far, in the opinion of a 5yr old, the only movies that were no fun are:
Cap1 and Ironman 3

and at this pace, we should be done with Avengers AoU just before going to watch BP in 2 weeks
Next up is Cap: TWS (on Sun)
GotG (wed 2/7)
AoU (Wed 2/14)

Black Panther (Fri 2/16)

BnM, she calls Mjolnir Mew Mew? That is too adorable. And that was a funny scene, where they were shouting out the names of the things that passed by them and Mjolnir flies in out of nowhere and they shout its name. I agree it wasn't nearly as bad as folks said. If anything it suffered from wasted opportunities than being a poor movie. Christopher Eccleston deserved more.

So I watched Captain America: The Winter Soldier with my daughter

She was pretty into this one. It doesn't hurt that it was pretty much action from start to finish. But I also made sure she stayed engaged throughout by pausing the movie to make sure she recognized certain characters (Old Peggy vs Young Peggy from Cap1, and then the same for Old Bucky v New Bucky aka TWS) and followed what was going on.
When I asked her about her favorite parts, it was "the sad parts" and when I asked her to elaborate a little, she said "the parts where everyone was getting shot, like Nick Fury and Captain America".
So she was really into the scene where Fury got ambushed in his car, and she really liked the final battle at the end where it came down to Cap vs Buck and to quote her "when he wouldn't give up on his friend". I asked her what her most favorite scene was was specifically, she said "when Nick Fury got out the helicopter" and that was the scene were Black Widow revealed herself to the Council, took the Pierce captive, Fury revealed himself to be alive by getting off the chopper and then Pierce took back control, but Black Widow electrocuted herself to disarm the electronic pen she was wearing and took herself away as a useful hostage, allowing Fury to take down Pierce once and for all.

So I was quite relieved that she enjoyed TWS, as this is still on the top of my MCU list.
She immediately claimed that Ironman 1 is still her favorite movie, and as usual cites the scene where Tony is trying to escape the cave, the guy tried to shoot iM in the head, but the bullet bounces off and he ends up killing himself instead. LMAO oh, she loves that scene so much.

Well, Next up is Guardians of the Galaxy.
I know she's seen this one before, as she is very familiar with Rocket and Groot, so no worries on if she will like this one or not.

I've kinda accelerated our watch schedule due to free time, and trying to pull her away from Zelda for a few extra hours a day. If I can slip in an extra movie this week, and an extra movie next week, we will be able to get through Civil War the day before going to watch Black Panther.

Jeez, it’s about time Marvel got one right. Maybe Black Panther will even manage to make the studio a meager profit.
