 On Monday, May 17 at 10a.m., Nintendo of America and the American Heart Association are set to make a joint announcement at a press event in New York City.    

The American Heart Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting healthy lifestyles in order to curb conditions such as heart disease and strokes.    

Nintendo is no stranger to promoting healthy activities either, with their Wii Fit games achieving unprecedented popularity, and their upcoming Vitality Sensor sure to promote healthy living as well.    

News of the announcement was sent out as a media alert with very little details.  NWR will have more news as it breaks.

Both of those are already known though, so they wouldn't be announcements. We don't know what the announcement with the AHA is.

Yeah, I have to say this upcoming announcement and the earlier announcement for Wii Party have made me much more excited for E3 this year, just because they can't do a grand reveal of these two (?) particular titles at their press conference now.  It sounds like the Press Conference this year will be all about the titles we actually care about, with only a minimum amount of time relegated to the obligatory Blue Ocean stuff.

Considering that E3 is for the industry and only the HARDCORE are paying attention, then it would be wise to get all the casual focused stuff out the way early when all the magazines can cover them and non-gaming news sources are likely to give it some coverage too(when it's the only thing in the news).

Save the core stuff for the core audience at the press conference, give the casual stuff to the public before hand. If that is the strategy, then I'm liking it.

Nintendo "is" changing the game as we know it so what if they're trying to get the casual involved or at least interested in E3. This Vitality Sensor announcement may be tailled with "a see more at E3 2010 blah blah date." Instead of this being an article in Fitness Magazine, it may me on the Yahoo ticker for "mom that needs to relax" article.
