The Times They Are a-Changin'
« on: January 22, 2011, 02:49:42 PM »

I promise the title of this article will be the only Bob Dylan reference I make.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/sitenews/24849

Before we get into my "I'm excited to be Director, and here's what I plan to do" speech, let's look at some interesting facts about Nintendo World Report and its almost 12-year history.

First off, in succeeding Jon Lindemann, I will be only the fifth director in site history, which is kind of ridiculous if you think about it in the volatile world of the Internet. Nintendo World Report, known as Planet GameCube until the Wii launch in 2006, debuted the same year as College Humor, OverClocked Remix, MobyGames, Something Awful, and Urban Dictionary. We have a rich history, and I hope to keep the tradition going under my watch.

Your New Director

While my game-writing experience pales in comparison to some members on staff, I'd like to think that I've proven my worth over the past three years with numerous titles ranging from Staff News Writer and Contributing Writer to News Editor and Senior Editor. Before I began working for Nintendo World Report in March 2008, my only game-writing experience  was for my college newspaper and a few shoddily written personal blogs. I can honestly say that even though I graduated from college with a B.A. in English, I learned more about the craft of writing while working for this site. It is for reasons such as that that I am honored to be named the next Director of Nintendo World Report.

There won't be any huge drastic changes right away. The biggest shake-up that will come out of my promotion is the fact that some staffer's titles, such as our beloved James Jones' ascension to Senior Editor, will be altered. However, I can promise that we've got some awesome ideas in the works, including new features and a variety of behind-the-scenes improvements. All of this, of course, will be done in the interest of improving the site.

We're on the cusp of the next big step in the history of Nintendo as the 3DS is set for a March 27 release in North America, and we here at Nintendo World Report are also at the next big step in the history of the web site. It's going to be a wild ride, and we hope you enjoy it as much as we will.
