Baten Kaitos seems like a high quality game coming up for GC. How come there isn't much hype for it and nobody ever talks about it? Who knows it could even be at Final Fantasy's level of quality and few will ever know about this game.

Yes the game will be awesome, but it doesn't come out until October/November. Thats the reason for little info new coming out for it now. Besides, most of the game elements are already known.

Nah there's more to Baten Kaitos than that. I have a good feeling about this game cuz I heard people who worked on Chrono Cross (my fav. RPG) are working on this game. The gameplay will be very innovative and fun which is what I've heard. I just feel that Baten Kaitos, which is an addition to a dried out GameCube RPG harvest, gets less attention than most if not all other upcoming GC games imo.

Funny thing is that some poll results showed BK as the second most anticipated 3rd party game for the GC, beating out Tales of Symphonia by a few percent.

I think the game sounds nice. AFAIK NoE already promised us they'll bring it here by Q4/04-Q1/05, like Symphonia...

I believe the reason that nothing much has been heard about it is that Namco wants to pimp ToS first, then once ToS is out it will pimp baiten kaitos. Both games are by the same company and they are competition for eachother, it has to time things right so that people will end up buying both of them, instead of just one.

That, and from the movies i've seen, it is one very unique combat system. Check out the trailers at www.gametrailers.com

The gameplay elements of BK are out and known. Sure there will be little intricasies that we won't know about until the came is released, but the vast majority of it is out. I have played the game plenty both before and at e3.

I am also in almost continuous contact with a person at namco with the game.

Maybe I'm mistaken, but maybe the reason is that Baten Kaitos seems like a very niche title. Not something that's usually 'hyped'. The battle system is based on cards, which doesn't appeal to everyone (especially here in the US). I know it doesn't interest me.

I think the cards will be fun in this game. They are technically just drawing different commands so there's no summoning monsters, no pikaboos, no dark magicians so I think it will be innovative and still appealling.

What was bonestorm I heard of that before.......I think it was a video game that Bart wanted right?

Nay. The reason I am much more hyped about Baten Kaitos is not he graphical style. It's because Baten Kaitos was made by two of my most respected RPG developers. Tri-Ace and Monolith. These are the guys behind such things as Valkyrie Profile, Chrono Trigger, Xenogears, and Xenosaga.

Well really good RPG's like Skies of Arcadia and Septerra Core will make you whores for floating continents. Speaking of which I lost my copy of Septerra Core for PC....anyone know here I could get my hands on another?

Hey thanks KDR. It will run on XP right? I'd hate to get the game and have it not run. I loved that game, when I moved I have no clue with what I did with it. What today is the 12th...Tales of Symphonia hits soon. I love RPGs.

Edit: I just found it for dirt cheap on Amazon.com. I ordered express shipping and it cost me less than $10. Hell the shipping was $5.50 and the game was $4.14. Thanks again KDR.

Darc: Monolith's site links to a patch that's apparently in the W2k SP3 to play it on newer Windozes so there might be a few issues. I don't know whether it'll run under XP, but there's a demo available.
