Podcast Discussion / Re: Episode 264: All Good Things...
« on: October 24, 2011, 04:08:27 PM »
@John You may well have been bashing the Pats for years, I have been listening for less than a year so this is the first I have heard it. I listened to several episodes in a row so it seemed more pronounced to me than if it had been spread out over weeks.

@Greg My comment was made about several episodes, not just the few seconds of this one and was intended as ribbing between rival teams, not to truly upset you as it seems to have. I do apologize if it did. Although I would like to point out that at least one rival coach has said the footage they got was pointless and could not have been any use in their victories. True they have not won a Superbowl since then, since the Giants managed to twist the injury rules in their favor at the end of the game.

I honestly have nothing against the Bills and wish them the best of luck this season, you guys do deserve to finally have a decent run after these last few years. Now lets all focus on complaining about the games Nintendo is not bringing to the US and/or Europe.

What is with all the Patriots bashing on this podcast lately? Just because the closest your teams will get to a trophy is if Brady lets them clean his does not give you the right. Focus on the games.

Does anyone know if the CD is going to be the actual soundtrack or just one of their 6 track specials? If the later I do not think it is worth getting upset over.

Was hoping for Startropics and Punch Out, but oh well. Not too excited about the golf game but the rest of the list looks good.

Just got home with mine, my local Target dropped the price to watch Walmart. Chance thing I saw it too, my kid dragged over to the toys and I caught the price out of the corner of my eye.

My Mother worked for Walmart for a while and was treated like garbage by a couple of the managers (given impossible tasks with short notice, having no help, being pulled for some "emergency"project then getting written up when her real work was not done). It got to the point she was punching out then working another 6 hours or so in order to get her work done and not get yelled at. It reached the point she fell asleep exhausted during dinner with a knife in her hand and I had to try to figure out how to remove it without one of us getting stabbed. All of the managers knew what was going on and did not care. My hatred of Walmart is not some hipster they are evil thing, it is personal.

I really hope Target follows their lead if this is true. I want to get one but do not want to buy it from Walmart if I can.
I would also like to thank Nintendo for dropping the price to exactly how much I received in birthday/Father's Day money. That made the decision of what to get a heck of a lot easier.

I received mine the Christmas it came out and loved it. I still have it and all of my games. I recently booted it up to play WWF Royal Rumble with my son. I did not have any of the big RPGS when they first came out but a few years ago a coworker sold me his copies for $5 each. Chronotrigger, FFII and FFIII, Secret of Mana, Mario RPG, most of them still in the box.

This podcast made me decide to go back and play through the game again, for the first time since it came out. So far I am enjoying it. I kind of enjoy the slow build up in the beginning, I like having a reason to care about what is happening in the world and the ability to see the relationships the characters have for myself.

Wow Nintendo actually made the Donkey Kong posters a standard size. I have had the Zelda history one in the tube for over a year now because I can not find a frame for the thing anywhere and did not order the Mario one for the same reason. Nice of them to finally fix that problem.

For anyone who has never worked retail here is the bottom line. You will almost never find anyone truly knowledgeable working a register/sales counter. Large scale retail operations pay their people as low as they can go (part of their strategy for keeping prices low) anyone with any real knowledge will want more money than a store will pay. Anyone decent will have moved into another position rather quickly or left the company.

The thing that drives me nuts about Gamestop is they will sell what I consider to be "used" games at full price. I bought a copy of Okami for the will there, their last copy, the guy took the game out of a sleeve and popped it into the display box that had been sitting on their shelf forever. I was not happy buy did not have a lot of choice as no one else around had the game anymore.

Instead of drunk dialing we now have drunk pre-ordering. Interesting. Wonder how many Hannah Montana games will get sold that way.

What the heck, I will take a shot. One more in means all of us have less of a chance of winning. Ha Ha!

Did anyone notice that they added onto the time again (sort of). The site now says that "All members who registered the game by 12:01am Pacific Time Tuesday, June 21, 2011 will receive the CD. Beyond this date, we will continue to send CDs to registrants on a first-come, first-serve basis, while supplies last." So if you did not get in on the first day you still have a shot to get the cd.

I was a huge fan of the show you discussed at the end and never realized who the two characters were based on until I heard it on here. I always assumed they were original creations. Wow. Do not feel bad about how long it took you to figure it out.

Kind of wish I had not read this, now I will spend the next month checking the mail box excitedly and getting sad when I do not get one.

I was at the panel and had a blast. I brought my wife along and she enjoyed it as well. I was one of the people who got cutoff from asking a question due to time, but oh well. It was cool meeting you guys after it was done. Thanks for the frisbee.

Just wanted to thank you guys for answering my question about Xbox vs PS3 and actually pronouncing my last name correctly. Could someone please give me some more information on overcoming the motion sickness? I was able to play Goldeneye on the N64 more or less ok but had trouble with Perfect Dark. I tried Metroid Prime on the GC but could only play for 10 minutes or so before I had to stop. Any suggestions for newer games to try that might not affect me as badly as those ones?
