I wonder how much changing the display on Vita would affect anything with my gaming habits (at home only, especially since there's no Streetpass-like function). I'm assuming not much. The speaker placement looks questionable. I feel like they could get blocked by the player's thumbs. I'd probably wait for the 3000 model.
I was pretty excited about PS Vita TV until I read that it doesn't play all Vita games due to the lack of touch controls. Ultimately, this and the 2000 model get outclassed by 2DS as casual versions of their respective platforms. 2DS has no Japanese release plans yet, but Vita, in any incarnation, is still up against 3DS/XL which is about get Monster Hunter 4. I don't think they do enough to appeal to their target audience. One can't play all the games; the other costs almost as much as the original Vita after the price drop. Alternatively, there's a distinct reason for 2DS to exist and Nintendo has a very clear game plan there. The 2000 model makes a lot more sense than Vita TV, but I would have liked to have seen more improvements. Thinner and lighter is nice, but losing the OLED screen and barely improving battery life at a price comparable to the original seems like a missed opportunity for a new model. Two steps forward then two steps back.
I don't really understand the point of Phantasy Star Nova on Vita of all platforms. Phantasy Star Online 2 is already out in Japan for Vita. From what I read, Nova is more like the original PSO with a single player and online/offline 4-player mode. If Nova takes place in the PSO2 universe, I don't really understand why the game is coming to a platform that already has PSO2. I would have preferred this on PS3, Wii U or even 3DS. Admittedly, I'm a bit biased since I already own those platforms which would make playing this (eventually) cheaper for me.
