It's Gamescom week in Europe, and the Geoff Keighley-hosted Opening Night Live did have a decent Switch 2 / Switch presence in it.

The headlining announcement was a Switch 2 release of the forthcoming remastered version of The Witcher 3. Originally released on Switch in 2019, the Switch 2 upgrade will be available on September 29, and owners of the Switch version will be able to upgrade at no cost: if the game was purchased without the Hearts of Stone / Blood and Wine expansions following their separation, they are also included in the Switch 2 version by default. The Switch 2 version is also expected to receive the new "Songs of the Past" expansion next year.

Other announcements:

• A demo is now available for next week's Onimusha: Way of the Sword (Switch 2): the demo was previously released on Steam and PlayStation.
• RedOctane is getting back into the plastic instrument game with Stage Tour, which will be released for Switch 2 on December 10: guitars, microphones, and drums will be available from the manufacturer's website though the Switch 2 drums will not be available at launch.
• Pixel art platformer Mariachi Legends, which was previously targeting a 2026 launch, confirmed a release date of April 27 of next year.
• Saber Interactive's Turok reboot Turok: Origins was also delayed to spring 2027 following its announcement for fall release in the June Nintendo Direct: no word on if this delay is to add more LLM-generated content.
• Capcom showed a new trailer for Mega Man: Dual Override, which confirmed Proto Man will appear in the 40th anniversary game when it launches next year. A coinciding announcement will see a Mega Man costume added to Pragmata.
• A new trailer was shown for the upcoming Final Fantasy VII: Revelation which confirmed the return of the Weapons (bosses that scale up to superbosses), and some new summons that were not in the original 1997 game including Typhon (FFVI).
• Worms: Galactic Tactics, the next game in the long running strategy series, was revealed for a 2027 launch: a second new Worms was also announced but gave no platforms or windows.
• The Arcade Crew (Blazing Chrome) will publish Arconia: Mirror Worlds, a self-described "action adventure shop manager" next year.
• Also due in 2027 is co-op adventure Age Twisters from publisher Krafton and developer Piccolo Studio.
• The debut game from MCB Studio, a supergroup of developers from studios including Bungie, Hi-Rez Studios, and BioWare, will be fantasy co-op game 1001 Threads of Mizan for Switch 2 among other systems. No release date was given.
• Lego is moving to build entire cities with Lego Skylines, which will launch on Switch 2 at an undetermined time.
