We only watched Nintendo's Treehouse play this game, but man, does it look amazing.
It wasn't even playable for the show's attendees, but the long-awaited sequel to Xenoblade Chronicles (which was itself long-awaited) left a big impact on Nintendo's presence at E3 2014. We finally got a legitimate title for the game (not just "X"), and we learned much about the game's story, which involves Earth being destroyed in an alien war and the human refugees crash-landing on a mysterious new planet that serves as the game's enormous setting.
Perhaps more importantly, we saw first-hand that X will definitely continue and expand its predecessor's trademark theme of exploration through a rich, massive, living world. This new planet is rendered in far greater detail and even more clarity than was ever possible in the first game, and that alone should be enough to sustain our hype for the sequel, considering that the world is arguably Xenoblade's best character. We stood front-row as Treehouse representatives played the game, from the very beginning, for a solid 45 minutes. They didn't even get to the signature mechs or many other new features, but the giant dinosaur-like creatures and lavish waterfalls made one thing clear: Xenoblade Chronicles X presents a world where we want explore every square inch -- and get experience points for doing so!
