Level-5 puts on the first Guild02 title while dinosaur pets, Game & Wario, and more permeate the eShop this week.

It has been a busy week for Nintendo in Japan. Two Nintendo Directs have aired and the company is gearing up for a few big releases later this month. Game & Wario, one of the main first party releases this month, was also highlighted, showing off gameplay footage and giving gamers information about what to expect. Of course, a lot of other stuff was released this week, so check out below to see what’s happening on the Japanese eShop!

Video Content

On top of the two videos from the latest Nintendo Direct presentations, there are a few other points of interest in terms of video content. A new commercial for Animal Crossing: New Leaf shows how the world of Animal Crossing is transforming into a spring wonderland and offers a variety of things to do, such as Ohanami (cherry blossom viewing) and getting special holiday items for the upcoming series of holidays, Golden Week (for example, koinobori, or “carp streamer” for Children’s Day). There is also a new commercial for Luigi’s Mansio: Dark Moon and short preview videos for Monsters Come Out on Friday, Dinosaur Pet 3D, Challenger and Pretty Rhythm - My Deco-Rainbow Wedding.

As I mentioned above, there is also a preview video for Game & Wario on the eShop. The game features sixteen different kinds of games that should be somewhat familiar to fans of the series, only this time the developers are making use of the Wii U’s unique features. One game had the players searching for a person in one of three buildings that are displayed on the television screen. Using the GamePad as a camera, players can search and zoom in to take a picture of the person you are searching for. Another game had the player hold the GamePad in on its side (ala Captain Falcon’s Twister Race in NintendoLand) and guide their skiing character down the snowy slopes using the gyro sensors. The touch screen is also used in mini-games for drawing, flicking items, and a lot more. I haven’t played many games in this series, but from what I’ve seen, there are some interesting uses of the hardware that seem like fun for everyone. Game & Wario releases in Japan on March 28.

I'm actually looking forward to Game & Wario when it arrives in the west.
