Title: New Year's Eve plans?
Post by: UncleBob on December 27, 2008, 02:06:45 PM
I'm putting together a shindig with friends at the place I held the FaceBall 2000 Megafailure. Should be fun, video games, board games, great food by my wife... looking forward to it! Might even have a bit of live music, if I can manage it. If you're in the area and want to come (even if you're not?) lemme know...
Anyone else have any NYE plans to speak of?

Anyway my friend Tim rented a hotel room with a spa. My friend tom,and steve are all going. We are buying booze and bring the wii to play some smash. My friend steve said he will get some girls. Should be a blast.

I hope Steve comes through with those girls.
I'm hanging out with a few friends. We haven't decided on solid plans, yet. Last year, me and a bud hung out in the French Quarter (that's where Bourbon St is) (I'm from New Orleans, in case that last bit was confusing). There's a party going down, but we're not sure if we'll go. My fun will probably be directly proportional to whether or not this chick comes back from Baton Rouge to hang out with me. It's the difference between a good time and a great time.

Tom said he will talk to the asian girls who go to his College Buddhist Club meetings. He isn't Buddhist but he belongs to that clic so maybe some asian girls.
I got a girlfriend, so I don't care about girls coming on New Years. As long as I'm with friends, getting drunk, playing some Wii I'll be happy. We might do mario kart 64 on Virtual Console and balloon battle block fort and whomever loses takes a shot. That's fun.
Maybe some crazy Cho Aniki for new years, and take a shot at every continue screen and we try to beat it.
It should be fun. Good booze, Great friends, and Fun games to play.

Probably heading up to Chicago for a concert. 75 bucks to get in, but the concert has an open bar so everyone there is going to be getting wasted. And that, really, always makes for a great party.

Hey, I'm going to New Orleans for Mardi Gras this year. I have a pretty large room waiting for me & from what I'm told, the room is in the quarter (French? i dunno). Assuming you are of age (21) maybe we can purposely cross paths. I'll be there for 1 week for my birthday. It would be nice to meet a fellow NWRer in person
As far as New Years plans... no idea yet. Just gonna go with the flow.

I have no idea why you mentioned me, but coincidentally I've been thinking about going to Mardi Gras next year for quite sometime. I have a place to stay in the French Quarter and everything.

I have no idea what I will be doing New Year's Eve.
Ever since my grandmother died in 2005 we haven't felt the desire to gather with friends and family and have a party. 2006 was a great year, though, because I spent it playing Wii with S_B while we drank some wine and exploded a lot of things. 2007 was also a modest affair.
But 2008 looks to be the bleakest of them all. First, my uncle died last summer and he was one of the last members that actually threw parties, so even if they do throw a party it would be all bittersweet and depressing. Second, we didn't buy any fireworks or explosives this year so we won't be noisy this year.
Finally, my older sister is very angry with the family right now (long story short, she was being a bitch and we told her the truth), so the only ones left will be me, my mom, dad and nephew.
My only hope is trying to find people online and celebrate new year's in City Folk, but I doubt that's going to happen.
*Sigh
I've been in a downer because of this. I really love new year's eve and I really love spending it with friends and family and it looks like it won't be the case this year.

when heath ledger died i was like "he finished batman right?"
and cheer up pap! Not to be a douche, but everyone loses someone. Get out and have some fun. I know this is a video game forum, but alot of people just wind up trying to shrug away their problems by playing video games. Your 26, just go to some public place(maybe a bar) and meet some people. If anything just go crazy and loose yourself in the new year.
im not sure what im doing for new years
A: hang out with my brother B: hang out with my friend dale, his girlfriend(a stripper), and her coworkers c: drive to yuma to visit friends there D just see what happens E Sit in my room and not do crap

Or if you really would rather play AC:CF online, how about you head up to AnimalXing.com or some other sort of fan site. I'm sure they have a community there that are hardcore enough to celebrate New Years virtually. Hell depending on if i have to work new years day or not, i might just meet up with ya! ;)

I have no issue with partying with new years. Its the family the one that refuses to do anything due to a loss in the family. Besides, there aren't any cool places to spend new year's at around here.

So yeah, no party or nothing. I'll just spend the night with my girlfriend, have a few drinks, etc etc.

That was pretty harsh Rab, even for my tastes. I still laughed though.
Happy New Years!
Anyone making any resolutions? I never have, but this year might be the one I try it out.
I didn't (laugh). I could swear I heard crickets breaking what would of been an awkward and tense silence if this happened IRL.
(Putting all that behind us...)
No, never made a resolution and probably won't this year unless its "get to work on time so i dont get canned"
I laugh at awkward moments, especially if it doesn't involve me. What Rab said was especially awkward.
Anyway, as a new years resolution I am going to stop drinking (and in turn, stop smoking cigarettes; I only smoke em when I'm hammered). It's been 5 years since I've started drinking and my longest break has been 6 months. I think it's time to give it up for now. However, when I go on trips, I'll drink a few.

Anywho, no big party for me. I spent a quiet evening with my girlfriend; we had dinner and rung in the new year with an intimate night. No resolutions made.

That picture is money.
I ended up not going to Chicago and instead throwing a little sum'in sum'in at my house. Party was pretty tight; lots of booze and a good ratio. I lit up a tulip joint (look it up) at midnight and declared my resolutions (my other resolution is business related). I kicked everyone out at 4 except this very cute Japanese American that I've been spitting at for 4 fucking years GOD DAMN!! I've never put in that much effort. I was a little disappointing that she had nipple rings, but whatever. I still finally sealed the deal this morning in my jacuzzi ;). Then I kicked her out too!
Oh and by the way: who had to work today?! Even though I didn't have to be in till 11, I couldn't see I was so tired.
