Title: Clandestine Claws
Post by: EasyCure on November 30, 2009, 11:04:27 PM
pssst!

want in on a secret?

If you've received a PM from me, and are interested, please say so here. If you know someone cool that might be interested in participating, please send them this way.

Why all the secrecy? well I don't want anything to go wrong like LAST year... (http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/forums/index.php?topic=26798.msg481572#msg4815)

also, to avoid further incidents, when we get this thread rolling, be sure to use all the standard funhouse lingo.. for instance, you'll all eventually have to post your HOOLA HOOPS in this thread.

well if you stop flaunting your Penis Fencing PhD maybe you wouldn't scare her off!

by the way, to everyone that IS participating.. PM a person or two who you might think is cool enough and more importantly RELIABLE enough to participate. I never wanted these threads to be like some invite only event, but ..

"fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me" ya dig?
Title: Re: Clandestine Claws
Post by: BlackNMild2k1 on December 01, 2009, 06:47:09 PM
should we just assume that if they haven't responded, then you haven't PM'd them?
or are you hoping that a 2nd PM to to those people maybe get them to respond?
Title: Re: Clandestine Claws
Post by: EasyCure on December 01, 2009, 06:54:08 PM
i only sent PM's to members who participated in the past. considering the majority of these are the forum regulars, that means new people like maxi and stratos did NOT receive pm's. Maxi knew about this thread because he had sent me a PM saying "check your PM's" and after i replied confused, he asked if I would be hosting this again this year.

i did not send PM's to GP or Kashogi; gp because she quit and claims has no time for gaming, stogi cuz he doesnt have a wii anymore.

When i decide when cut off should be, by the end of the week, i'll pimp this thread out to get more participants. Last year's SS was much smaller than the first years.. i don't want a repeat.

sweet. anyway, i'm sure you're all expecting me to post rules or whatever but i don't think i have to, do i?

it'll be similar to last years, since it worked out well enough.. however I might ask you to email me instead of PM because it'll be easier for me, since:

a. i'm not on the forums as much an ymorme
b. i might have to keep my computer offline to get my wii online..

but once i figure things out, i'll add whatever you need to know to the OP. In the meantime, if you all wanna suggest a date where we unwrap our members presents (hopefully its their members!).. feel free! Know you'll be out of town/away from your wii on a certain day/week of the month? Tell the whole forum so we can plan accordingly!

All this secrecy is confusing me, but if this is what I think it is I'm in, even though I'm pretty sure I still haven't played what I got last year. I won't be able to access my Wii until the 19th or 21st, though.

To be honest, like most Funhouse threads, I don't even know what's going on here. But this is in the Funhouse so chances are I don't want to know.

I have no idea what bnm's talking about and he's starting to sound like a bot.

In other news I think I have the flu so I'm staying home from work, but I'm in such a grumpy mood that I'll say I don't care much for this thread right now, so **** you all, and you're all getting lunar pool for xmas.

What Black N Mild doesn't realize is that the title was changed before EasyCure posted that.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Not Lunar Pool!

Yes I'm being overly dramatic just for the heck of it.EC won't be that cruel.I'm sure of it.

I didn't notice my title change, but...

Mop it up had a conversation in a different thread that led to a choice quote from herself that she said would make a great tag for herself. I PM'd a mod to try and make it happen since it was late at night I think. It is now in her sig.
Title: Re: Clandestine Claws
Post by: EasyCure on December 02, 2009, 12:25:39 PM
aha i was just about to point out that, as maxi said, and i reiterated; your title was changed before i made my post, which is why i used it in my post to begin with. as weird as i am, penis fencing PhD's arent something i come up with on a whim.

but i see you edited your post to reflect that, so we can all just drop this and go back to the topic at hand;

CHRISTMAS WAS CANCELED THIS YEAR

That is obviously a rule you just made up since that is pretty much how everyone got their title up until "change the title of the person above you" thread.

& I requested it for her, she just thought of it first. ;) [/loophole]

Are you going to send an invite to GP?  I think she participated last year.

Whoever is her Secret Santa has the duty of picking the absolute perfect game for her.  If she gets the right gift maybe she'll fall back in love with video games and come back to NWR.

No pressure.

She has a few VC/WW games already.

Maybe she will be happy with one of the Mario games unless she has them already. We need a list of all the VC/WW games she is interested in.

I haven't participated before, but count me in.

WELCOME!

When do we start posting our wishlists and umm... let's see if I can get this right... our HULA HOOPS?

yeah.. about that..

I'm gonna get this thread back on track starting today. I'm no longer sick nor irritated, so i'll be able to concentrate a little more.

First things first, temporary cut off date will be this Saturday, December 12th. I'll extend Sign-ups if i have to.

Secondly, everyone here can feel free to start posting their wishlist. As for HOOLA HOOPS, i'll try to post any hoola hoops i have from previous years in the OP. If the info i have is wrong you can say so here or shoot me a PM/Email to fix it. I know you guys can be lazy, so i wanna save you a step in this whole process :P

Wishlist "rules" will be the same as last year, in other words; loose like your mum.

(prefferably)
-You'll post 2 or 3 games you'd like to receive, and the platform they're on (be kind, list an NES game or two in case your Secret Santa is poor or going thru hard times)

-You can post a list of games you ALREADY have downloaded, if you'd like to be surprised.

-^if thats the case, you can post the kind of games you like to play (ie RPG's, Fighters, etc)

-or your can throw caution to the wind and just state which games you absolutely WILL NOT play, and let your Secret Santa go nuts.

Thats pretty much all there is too it since i'll try my best at handling the HOOLA HOOP situation. Obviously, if you've never participated before (maxi, stratos, mop_it_up), you'll have to help me out with that.. but i'll still rummage the  appropriate NWR threads to see if you've posted it on this site at all. Again, if i have the wrong info just let me know and i'll fix it all in the OP.

Other than that, just help me figure out when we should have our little key party ;) here. Know you're going away for the holidays and you'll be away from your wii? SAY SO! Oh, and don't forget to clean out your fridge delete wii-friends you no longer associate yourself with I'm looking at you NEOTHUNDER and RACHETMAN!
Title: Re: Clandestine Claws

My HULA HOOP:
2824 1354 9222 2480

Note that my limit is 1,000 points, so whoever I get had better not have only World of Goo on their list. Likewise, my wish list will not contain anything above 1,000 points. It will probably be mostly WiiWare but I'll see what I can do. Thank you so much in advance! *huggles*

As for the exchange date, I'm going to toss the 26th out there as a suggestion and see what people say.

I didn't participate last year and I'm not really the type to celebrate Christmas, but I'm all about fat ninjas so I'm in!

My HULA HOOP: 1883 0346 0631 0634

I play all kinds of games, but I find I like Virtual Console more than WiiWare. If Shadow Dancer comes out while this is all going on then I absolutely must have that game!

Is this the excuse you need to finally add my Wii Console Number?

EC, you forgot to add your own name to the participants list, and not to be a stickler for insignificant details, but can we get some proper capitalization for the names?

Were you even on these boards last year 'round this time? Oh and for clarifications, this isn't Christmas related; just an excuse to relish in the generalized "Holiday Season" of consumerism. The term Secret Santa just makes it easier to get the point across of what we're doing here. :P

EC, you forgot to add your own name to the participants list, and not to be a stickler for insignificant details, but can we get some proper capitalization for the names?

I didn't add my name because I haven't really stated if i'd participate. If i can't get my wii online, obviously i can't send a gift or receive one, so until my situation changes I'm merely the host. As for punctuation, its coming, don't worry.

I would be willing to donate to a 'Forgotten Poster' fund for anyone who gets left out this year.

No need, as host its my duty to come through for the forgotten. However, my duty as host (and originator of the un-official NWR annual Secret Santa) is also to prevent **** like that from happening in the first place, hence moving this from General Chat to the Funhouse as well as inviting people to join via PM (like Fleece) who might not stumble across the thread (or the funhouse in general).

Glad to see people posting their friend codes for me, I'll add them to the OP eventually. Everyone else should start posting their wishlist, and perhaps help me get other people to participate! I'll decide Sunday if that'll be the cut-off date for sign-ups and get an official Gifting date. Is anyone else leaving for the holidays and won't be around for certain days this month??

UncleBob already owns every WiiWare and VC game available.  Even if he didn't, if you gift him something he doesn't get the Club Nintendo Coins, so he won't accept because he'd rather buy it himself.

thatguy, thats good but can you supply me your HH? you're the only one missing from the OP aside from Dasmos, who doesn't count because he's an Aussie and can't gift or except anything for/from the rest of us.

Tower Toppler (C64 500)

Detana Twin Bee (TGFX16 700)

Overturn (WW 800)
Little Tournament Over Yonder (WW 800)

Flowerworks (WW 1000)
Strong Bad Episode 2: Strong Badia the Free (WW 1000)

It was kind of hard coming up with stuff I didn't have that I wanted; it's been a lean year on the VC.

•Super Mario Kart (SNES)
•Zombies Ate My Neighbors (SNES)
•Super Empire Strikes Back (SNES)
•Excitebike: World Rally (WiiWare)
•Bit.trip Void (WiiWare)

There's a funny story in there if you can piece it together.
From those I deduce that it is a trick website similar to Rick Roll. However, that still doesn't make sense to me in the context EasyCure used it.

scroll your mouse over the links. at the bottom of your browser it will tell you where is goes.
All 3 lead to a thread on NWR forums.

Click on the 1st link, then scroll down to the 6th reply made by DaAAaaMAan.

Someone signed up the for exchange and then never showed.  He got his present but never gave one.

Crap, I think that was me!

Who didn't I gift to so I can send em a gift this year, please? *goes to check PMS*

I checked, I got Decoyman. Is he still around?

Yes he is still around. So where have you been? You took a very long "vacation"

My vacation turned to nightmare. Got my back injured, ended bedridden for 3 weeks, lost my (paying) job and was jobless till March. Also still studying and had to cut back on gaming. I didn't play anything till recently, and I just came back to NWR.

BTW, I don't like the new forum. It's messy, or is it my browser (Chrome) acting up?

I owe someone a game, and that person better pm me what he/she wants!

If I recall correctly you went to Colorado correct?

The forum a few days ago had a redesign. You can change how it looks in your profile under Looks and Layout.

Don't you have Decoyman's system code added. Just send him a Wiimail.

Yeah, was in Colorado for my best friends wedding. Had a blast! Also, first time I ever see snow since I live in Puerto Rico.

I'm going to dig up the old Secret Santa thread, I owe whomever gave Decoyman a present and ended up gifting 2 times (or so I believe).

Looks and Layout? Let's see.

Check the first post in this topic. EasyCure has it linked to but it is kinda hard to see since it is just 3 periods. I believe EasyCure gifted Decoyman Super Mario RPG.

If I get how last year went EasyCure will send you a PM of who you have to send the game to. So it is best to add everybody's Hula Hoop.

Maxi is correct.

I will send you all a PM with the person you're assigned to send a gift to. Obviously you'll need their Hula Hoop for that right? Well you don't know who will be sending YOU a gift, which is why its important to add everyone participating.

As of today, I've added links to the OP; If you've posted your wishlist, your name is now linked to that post! I hope this makes it easier for you all when its time to send your gifts out.

Please, provide a wishlist for me to link to, or if you chose not to compile a list, state what types of games you'd atleast like to receive, OR any games you absolutely refuse to play!

Oh, and I also added Caterkiller's name and hula hoop to the OP.

While reading over the thread, I've also taken not of suggested gifting dates and would like to recommend the following dates:

Friday, Dec. 18th
Saturday, Dec 29th
Monday, Dec 28th*

I think i'll put up a poll on these dates actually.

*vudu never mentioned when he'll be back, just that he'd be gone after the 22nd. bustin98 however mentioned he wouldn't be available from the 22-27th, thats where I got this date from.

edit: Looks like i can't impliment a poll, so please give me your feedback on these dates! Cut are 11:59pm, tonight, EST since I haven't heard back from any one else I've PM'd. My next post will be me figuring out how to assign you people.

My Hula Hoop:

1658 6792 3856 9599

Checked it twice.

This is a list of titles you could easily get for me, and I'd be happy.  Other titles, I probably already have.  Anything on this list would be great.

NES
Wario's Woods
Star Tropics II
A Boy and His Blob
Blaster Master

SNES
ActRaiser
Kirby's Dream Land 3
Super Punch Out
Pilotwings

N64
F-Zero X
The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask

Genesis
Sword of Vermillion
Beyond Oasis
PulseMan

TurboGrafx
Detana! TwinBee

Virtual Console Arcade
Gaplus
Golden Axe

Wii-Ware
Toki Tori
Tetris Party
Tales of Monkey Island Ch. 1
Maboshi
Lost Winds
Lost Winds: Winter of Melodias
FFCC: My Life as a King
ExciteBike: World Rally
Crystal Defenders R1
Crystal Defenders R2
Contra ReBirth
Bust-a-move Plus!
Bit Trip Void
Bit Trip Core
Bit Trip Beat

Not as massive a list as I thought it would be, but that covers just about everything.  If you think I'd like something not on the list, or I overlooked a title, it might be because I already have it, like FFCC: My Life as a Darklord or several VC titles.  What's most important is that it's something you like off of the list, I'd suppose, so I get to experience that.  Make sense?

Title: Re: Clandestine Claws
Post by: that Baby guy on December 14, 2009, 04:24:07 AM
Well, I started thinking I would have around fifty, and before I posted it, I said humongous, so I went back to change it.  My main goal was to be open to just about anything, and I half expected to list about 15 titles for each section.  In that perspective, it's smaller than I thought it would be.

I've added thatguys hula hoop to the OP, I'll fix the formatting later.

Also, after work I might just go out and buy a wireless router to aoid the heache of dealing with my current set-up and going back and forth from where my wii is to where themodem/router are and power cycle things until it works etc etc.. so I'll be adding my HH and wishlist later!

I won't be back until the evening of the 30th.  Do whatever you want to do and don't bother working around my schedule.  My plan is to give my gifts before I leave on the 22nd.  Ideally, I would like to know who my recipient is by the end of this week so I can plan accordingly.

I don't want to go through the trouble of making a wish list.  It worked out for me last year well enough.

As for dates, I will be on vacation without my Wii after Christmas until the 3rd, so if you don't pass out names before then, someone will be getting a late gift.

I'll try to have all the HULA HOOPS entered by Friday.

Here's my problem:  I already own all the great games I want to play on WiiWare and Virtual Console--at least the ones I know about.  Therefore, I can't really give any specific requests for what I want.  However, I'm open to new experiences so if you see something that's missing from my list that I simply *must* play or even something that you know nothing about that you want to force onto me, feel free.  Here are some guidelines to help make your selection.

Here are all the games I currently own.

WiiWare:
Virtual Console:

NES:
SNES:
Nintendo 64:
Genesis:
TG-16:
NeoGeo:

Ok, so I'm in. I'll try my damndest to get my wii online for this ASAP, so add my Hula Hoop as well as any others you've missed. Here's my quicky wishlist:

NES:
Blaster Master
Super Mario Bros: Lost Levels
Kid Icarus

SNES
zombies ate my neighbors

N64:
Mario Golf

Turbo Grafix:
Cho Aniki

WiiWare:
Contra Rebirth
Dr. Mario ONline Rx
Excitebike World Rally
Lost Winds 1

Believe it or not, I don't have many of the classics on NES or SNES like SMB3, etc. I've only listed a small amount of games that I'm very interested in or have played but never beat, but really anything GOOD is fine. I know there's a lot of great games on the service I've missed because I never played them in my childhood, or just didn't own the systems they were on (like Genesis or.. well, anything non nintendo lol).

Dear NWR Posters and Secret Santa participants,

I, EasyCure, regret to inform you that due to personal issues that have recently been brought to my attention, I can no longer host this years festivities. My girlfriends pet cat for many years, Jasper, will be put to sleep tomorrow. Although possibly allergic, that big fat cat was like a pet of my own and as sad as it is for me to see him go, I can't begin to imagine what my girlfriend is going through. She's had Jasper since she was a toddler, when he was a small kitten that could fit in the palm of your hand (I've seen the pictures) till now.. where he's so big that when he sits, you can't even see his hind legs; cutest thing ever. This is obviously a rough time for her, and for me as well, and I have to be by her side during this.

With that said;

CHRISTMAS IS CANCELLED

Yeah, I feel for you guys. My family has a really old tabby around 20 years old who is in real bad shape. He used to be a big old fat thing and now he's close to skin and bones and much weaker. He's very close to passing away. He is a good buddy and I'll miss him a lot when he goes. He can still get around the house but he does have trouble jumping up on anything higher than a couch or chair.

All right, so I've never had a pet and therefore this may be something I don't understand, so I apologize in advance if this question is insensitive.

Why does the death of a pet have to be sad? As it would seem in this case, the animal has lived a long, full, and happy life. Like all living things, its time on this planet was limited, and this is inevitable. Now, I'm not saying it is a joyous occasion or anything like that, but I don't understand why it must be met with sadness. It may no longer be with you, but its memory will never die. Be thankful for the many years you've had together, and the happiness it brought you will live on.
Title: Re: Clandestine Claws
Post by: BlackNMild2k1 on December 16, 2009, 01:03:47 AM
Lots of people look at their pets as their children.
They feed and care for their baby every single day and likely cuddle with them whenever possible.
To lose a loved pet to them would pretty much be like losing a child or a really close family member. THey'll no longer be there to do the things you expect of them on a daily basis, and  regardless of how much the little things might have irritated you at the time, you will still miss them because that was what your baby used to do.
Title: Re: Clandestine Claws
Post by: Mop it up on December 16, 2009, 01:12:58 AM
But if a parent loses a child then that means it was an untimely death, because it wouldn't have been from old age. The pets mentioned in this thread who were 20 years of age when they passed away lived out their full life span, maybe even longer. It was just their time to go.

I guess it isn't something I can understand unless I experience it.

ICANZHAZ:

LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias
ORZ
Spaceball: Revolution
ORZ
Super Mario Kart
ORZ
Excitebike: World Rally

ORZ Anything else!  Its much appreciated, or porno poker if you get bored.

The LostWinds sequel came out?  Holy crap I've been out of it for a while.  I still don't have time to make a list thanks to work, but that's something that would probably be on it.  I guess I can at least say that while I like a very wide range of genres, I generally don't like tower defense or traditional sports games.

Sorry for your loss EasyCure.  You know what would ease your pain?  Dwarf Fortress.  The game where you have to kill your cats before they kill your FPS (http://dwarffortresswiki.net/index.php/Catsplosion).

Friday is the gifting day so then on Friday we send the gifts or can we send them on thursday and wait?
I'm sorry about your cat passing. I have had cats and have had to see them go- it's not easy, but in time you will feel better. It seemed like he had a nice long life, that's something not anyone can have.
Dwarf Fortress on WiiWare is now my #1 wish for 2010.

Dwarf Fortress on WiiWare is now my #1 wish for 2010.

Thanks guys, but it wasn't MY cat, it was my girlfriends cat that passed. I'd been with her for a long time now so i've had my own lil history with the cat, but she's the one having the really tough time. I'll tell her you guys gave your condolensces though. It's been a rough day...

Back to Becret Banta though; Fleece if you'd like to send your gift Thursday because you're unavailable Friday, be my guest. There's really no set time for anyone to send a gift come Friday, so sending it out thursday doesn't matter because perhaps your gift receiver won't be able to get it until the following day. Now that everyone has been assigned who they must gift to, it's pretty chill from here on out.

Tomorrow is a busy day for me, gotta run out and get last min gifts to ship out, run home and connect my wii (hopefully!) and generally preparing for not only gifting day friday but some big weekend plans i have. I'd like to apologize in advance to:

-the person I will be gifting to, in case i can't get your gift out on Friday, it's not because i didn't try. I'll work something out with you, no worries.

-and a general apology to all whom participated for being a crappy host this year. I started this thread when I was ill and tried the best I could to get things done in a timely manner  but simply lost track of time and had to rush to get things done. If things seemed a little hectic because you didn't find out who you had to gift for until last minute, my bad.

I'll see y'all Friday!

Added all you goons! And since i've known many of you since Junior high you all better stay on my list! Well that is to say please keep me on your lists, for random hellos from time to time.

I would like most anything. All I have is Ecco the dolphin 2, Mario RPG, Star Fox 64, Strong Bad 1, Kirby Dream Land 3, Kirby avalance and thats it. Used to everything under the sun on my new old wii.

But Lost Winds sure does seem fun. Or any of the Sonic games, the good ones! Sonic 1 -Knuckles is cool. Or a complete surprise would be awesome to!

I got all the codes entered last night.  I spent a little time looking at stuff in the shop to maybe make a last minute list, but I decided that, like last year, I'd like to use this as an opportunity to get something I wouldn't normally buy myself.  Browsing the shop reminded me that I should point out I already got all the episodic games on Steam, though.

Who would buy someone an episodic game unless it was specifically requested?  Here's a $10 game!  Now you have to buy $40 to finish it and see how it ends!

Better yet, you could just buy someone like episode 4, just to **** with them.  ;D

All right, I added all of the hoops last night.
Here's my list, it's all WiiWare but there are various point values on there so there's still options. Thank you so much in advance! *huggles*

Art Style: Cubello
Bonsai Barber
Flowerworks
Gravitronix
LostWinds (either)
Water Warfare

Sorry if that's a limited list... the WiiWare library is just mostly uninteresting to me.

Actually as I've just discovered, it is "hug" and "snuggle" made into one word. I had always thought that "huggle" was just a cute way of saying "hug".

Ah, I don't care though. However you want to say it, I like to give people hugs, even though sometimes people find it to be awkward.

Sorry for ruining Christmas, everyone! The last week of school before break was insane and I didn't have time to check NWR at all recently so I wasn't aware that the gift day was so soon. We must have a whole bunch of new participants in this this year because I should still have everyone from last year in my Wii (save for Kairon) and it seems like a ton of people are complaining about me. Big thanks to Maxi, I might not have gotten around to checking this thread until tomorrow if not for his PM. I'll go add everybody now.

So I maxed out the number of Miis I can send in a day. Didn't even know there was a limit. I sent my Mii of myself to everyone and a bunch of other more unique ones to BnM before hitting the limit. If anyone wants some I have a couple good versions of the following I'll send out later:

Boo, Charlie Brown, Bob Marly, Peach, Zelda, Mario, Luigi, Darth Vader...I forget who else. I think Michael Jackson is on there somewhere. Post here if you want some of those.

I wouldn't know, been a good couple years since I did any Mii management.  One of the biggest problems with Mii etiquette is someone would make a Mii like, "John," created by "John,"... and i'd have NO FLIPPING IDEA who to associate it with since the author didn't bother to use a recognizable screen name (in our case, a forum name).

So basically all of my latest Wii Friends (1/3 of my list) have no FACE cuz I just can't tell what to assign.

I'll send mii's to everyone, once I finish adding the rest of you! I know a lot of you probably have my mii, but I'll send it just in case. Wow.. my santa wasn't affected by the recession at all it seems.. if I didn't no better i'd swear it was Uncleob who sent me gifts!

Id like to thank pro by saying: Pro does what Nintendont. Seriously man, thank you. You will be repaid..

As for everyone else, hope you enjoy your gifts when you receive them! I know Stratos will enjoy his (he better!).. by the way I connected my wii with minimal effortt last night, it was amazing. I actually got it on my first try, no headaches at all! Things like that really put me in the holiday spirit... ;)

I'll send mii's to everyone, once I finish adding the rest of you! I know a lot of you probably have my mii, but I'll send it just in case. Luckily for you guys I had the same foresight as UPB and you'll either get "mike" by easycure or "easycure" by easycure, so no confusion there. Before I can receive your mii's, I'll have to murder some other ones :( but really, do I need 3 michael jacksons? Even if they are of 3 phases of his life...

Thanks for organizing this gig.

Here is the problem with this situation. I am guessing everybody else got their gifts yesterday. Everybody added me a few days ago or yesterday. Therefore I should have my gift.

What makes you think that? There are still six more days until Christmas. And I don't think I have received my gift yet either since I don't see the wondrous blueminated disc slot. So I don't think you should be worried.

Post by: EasyCure on December 19, 2009, 06:03:37 PM
As usual people should listen to Pro's prose.

Mop_it_up, in the past we try to all send gifts by the gifting date so situations like this don't happen and someone isn't left waiting in the cold (winter pun intended), however situations arise whereone poster can't gift another. For instance, I very well had the possibility of not getting my console online yesterday and it would of had to wait until today. There's also at least two posters I know of that have already mentioned they won't be able to send their gifts until Sunday, so please be patient; **** happpens.

I'll get to the bottom of this situation, and no matter what happens, you ALL have the EasyCure Satisfaction Guarantee tm.

I'm about to send out my gift now.  No, it's not to Maxi, or I'd have done it before I left!  He was my gifter, and I found he choose the secret #1 most wanted gift on my list, Kirby's Dream Land 3.

Merry Christmas, and my gift is about to be sent!

Also, if I'm you're not BlackNMild or haven't sent me a message about receiving a Mii, PM me or send a Wii message requesting one if you want it.  I don't use the Wii's messaging system often, so I'm not particularly worried about sending one to anyone who doesn't really want it.

Edit:  Whoa!  I hit a snag for a moment, the person I was giving a gift to already had bought the game I planned to send!  I thought there might've been a problem with my shopping channel, so instead, I went and tried to send the a second title, and it went through.  Merry Christmas!

I've played both, but never completed either.  Goemon 64 was awesome, especially thanks to Impact.  The sequel, I haven't played much of, mostly because it's my roommate's and he found it used after the N64 generation, when we were busy playing other things.  It was a very rare game.

Unfortunately, neither are on the VC yet.

All right, I was originally going to wait until the 24th to send out my gift, since I have a couple of others to send out at that time. But it would seem this has caused much worriment in my recipient, so I decided I'd better hop on the shop channel to send it out now before he gets an ulcer. So worry not, as ye who feel left out shall soon be greted by the illuminant blue!

Go back into your address book and click on the name of the person, and there should be an option to change the Mii.

I heard that there was 2 N64 games. Has anybody played those?
It is probably no surprise that I have. The first one on Nintendo 64, Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon, is a 3D adventure game akin to Zelda. It's a pretty good game and also pretty weird. It's a pretty easy game though, which is a stark contrast from the other games in the series. The second game, Goemon's Great Adventure, returns to the 2D sidescrolling roots, it has co-op and is one of the most difficult games on the Nintendo 64. I never beat it because the final stage is just too long and cheap.

Stratos, you are a rocking Clandestine Claus: thanks for Swords & Soldiers! It is really addictive – I played Bersersker Race or whatever for like several hours last night, and it's an extra mode (not even the "real" game!). Poor Arnie, I got him and his clones killed so many times...

And then the unexpected from Kairon/Easycure! Wow, thanks guys, that was really nice of you. :) Blaster Master was all I remembered it to be, though I'm gonna have to switch from the remote to the classic controller, I think (the remote's d-pad is kind of uncomfortable for button-mashing old-school games like that).

Overall, I can now say with confidence, it's much more fun to get your Secret Santa gift around Christmastime. ;)

P.S. - Nothing against him, cuz he's a kewl dude and all, but why does everyone think I'm Bustin? :P

Also thanks to Kairon and EasyCure for sending me Final Fight, I've been them all and I'm not sure which I like best. Sonic 3 and Final Fight are pure nostalgia for me, but the action in Lords of Thunder is too great to be ignored!!

Haha, no worries. :P: I'm just glad you liked the games!

Also, I hesitate to mention this, lest my game cr3d take a hit, but I couldn't find Sonic & Knuckles on the virtual console. I saw that Knuckles was in Sonic 3, but as an enemy... are you able to like recruit him or something, so you can play as him later in the game??? I never had a Genesis, so I only very rarely played Sonic games as a kid.  :-[

Well Sonic and Knuckles might not be out for the American VC. But when it comes out you should be able to "lock" Sonic 3 with Sonic and Knuckles. Thats how you play Knuckles in Sonic 3 and 2, basicly to get his full story. The events of Sonic 2 using knuckles never happen though.

Also bustin, and the lot of you, I'll be sure to add you all and send mii's your way. I don't normally cut people from my friend roster so anyone who did secret santa in the past should still be on my list, the rest of you will stay get added on so that next years event goes even smoother.

His gift to me said "From EasyCure and I" so I guess he's just including you since you orchestrated this little event?

Thank you very much kind sir.

I will try to get as much play time out of each of these games.
I just tried MM9 and Blaster Master and know that I'm am gonna need to bring my A game for both of them.

SuperMarioRPG is in my queue after I finish M&L and Z:ST.
I've been a very heavy DS gamer for the last 2 weeks.

It would have to be didn't register through Nintendo.  I added everyone last Friday, or at least everyone on the list at the beginning of the thread, which includes you.  I've not idea why it would say I haven't added you.

Thanks to Bustin and Kairon for the gifts, I fully intend to play them at some point.

Since I got a few Miis and a couple requests for Miis, I just sent everyone my Mii. It's named J.P., but I changed it so it says it's created by insanolord so you can tell what it is.

This sounds like a WONDERFUL nation.  It's hard to believe it wants to censor THE INTERCONNECTED WEB NETWORK.

So it seems RAB did get me a game, I didn't see that post he made earlier. It comes however just as I have emptied my bank account to pay for Christmas presents so I cannot retaliate until next week.

Oh, just to repeat myself and get in on the awesome recapping, TheFleece was totally awesome. He got me both a Commodore 64 classic Twer Toppler, which is surprisingly solid and challenging, but also forgiving (in that touching enemies only bounces you down the tower, doesn't instakill you hardcore-like). He also got me Detana Twinbee, a neat vertical scrolling shooter whose easy-mode I can actually beat! YES! Also, co-op and a pretty interesting power-up system, and the coolest thing ever: auto-targeting homing ground-attack bombs! My brother and I both played it, though we realized that the Twinbee from our childhood must've been a previous game in the series.

Oh, and also, Vudu surprised me with a gift of Bonsai barber. Today I tried it out and it was... awesome. So awesome my brother and I were inspired to get a little creative and "blue light" everyone. I love games where you can post screenshots to the Wii Message Board...

Oh, no, sorry, I'm broke. &P This time, the blue light is just that, a blue light (and a pic of an awesome Bonsai barber haircut!).

Recaps! Vudu was great, he sent me Sonic 3, Final Fight 2 and Lords of Thunder. Kairon and EasyCure also sent me the first Final Fight, thanks y'all!! I played the Final Fights with my girlfriend and I relived the horror of getting killed over and over by the other player more than the actual enemies. But I still can't stop playing them and I don't know which I like better... yet. Lords of Thunder is totally fun and crazy. The opening sequence had me in tears and awe. The gameplay is really fun and crazy. I haven't beaten any levels yet, but I've also just returned home. I found the erie blue light this morning haunting my dark room, thanks for the Bonsai Barber image Kairon! I haven't played it, but I heard it's fun.  I've been trying to reply to the thread all day, my internets are acting up. I hope everyone's having a cool holiday!

Oh Snap! Insanolord just gifted me Pokemon Rumble! This is great! My brother and I thank you this much [------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------] ! (or more)

Now I can get my Gauntlet fix satisfied. Phew. It's been a long time since I beat Alien Syndrome.

You deserve it after how awesome you were, and you comparing it to Alien Syndrome, a very underrated game that I loved, is going to get me to try out the demo.

Can you ply that Pokemon Rumble game online? My sister loves it. I tried it with her and while it is a bit repetitive it was still fun to play with her.

Well, the comparison is only that both really scratched my co-op top-down hack-and-slash urge. My brother and I are a little more than 4 hours in I think and have beaten ranks C, B, and A now. Rank S awaits, but I think we also get to unlock and play a mode with more than just the original 150 pkmn? Anyways, we're having a blast. I think it would really be not as fun without a second player, because two players can choose complimentary pokemon/strategies and cover each other's back. For example, if my brother is using roll out to just blast through hordes of enemies, I can just keep running after him and mopping up the occasional straggler. OR he can be oddish, I can be gloom, and we can just set up a front, using a ranged poison spread attack to lock down an entire corridor of enemies slowly advancing on us.

It's worth trying the demo to see if you could be a fan of that sort of experience.
