Title: The Can't Be Derailed Thread
Post by: GoldenPhoenix on August 13, 2007, 07:48:39 PM
This thread is about nothing in particular. Any discussion that does not follow the board rules is disqualified and does not count as derailing.

This thread is now about discussing the theories around the new information from the Metroid Prime 3 trailer.

Now the thread has a point.

/derailed =D

Nope, now this thread is about how Mashiro purposely tried to derail a thread that is un-derailable, and fails miserably in the process.

wait.... that still gives this thread a point huh?

It's not about whether the thread has a point or not. It's whether there's any one track that it should stay on./ Theoretically this thread can talk about anything, and that topic be deemed "appropriate," and thus, always "on rail."

Those in glass avatars of ugly borg queens shouldn't throw stones.

On the subject, "nothing" is an example of two words becoming one word. Like goto and alot.

I love Shyguy and his line of thought.

On a side note a mod can derail this by changing the order of comments and the topic . . . *hint hint mods*

I'd like to talk about how ugly Kairon's new avatar is.  The fish-women are rendered with a very small number of colors which makes them look all weird and unpleasant.

How could it blind and kill both mermaids with one hit, however critical it may have been?

Is it from a clock or something? At first i thought it was, as the time read 12:20 and I first saw it at 12:18. It still reads 12:20, though.

Bacon is great. It's so versatile, too. You can have it with you eggs and grits for breakfast, on you BLT for lunch and on you cheese burger for dinner. Yum! <3

Bacon is great on pizza and wrapped around shrimp. Bacon can be crumbled on a salad or used in a Potato soup.

Runs up to window and begins firing wildly with the Zappers while shouting sound effects.

"BANG! BANG BANG!"

The infrared light and imaginary ammunition do not find their target (not that that was any surprise). Sits down on a nearby chair glumly, taking off hat.

"I knew I should've picked up that Super Scope instead o' these pea shooters..."

When I was 15 I was watching Showtime and this movie came on late at night. It was Cinderella. But it wasn't. The Fairy Godmother was a black man. And Cinderella left more than a glass shoe at the ball. Then the shoe broke, so there was only one way to prove who was Cinderella.

Ooooohhhhhhh yeaaaaaaaahhhhhh *cue the cheap 70's porno music*

Time for the Prince to get busy.

Post by: EasyCure on May 29, 2008, 10:57:50 AM
how is the pasta? my gf was curious but we settled for the Dinner For 2 since my only reason for going there was the wings. The wings were good but i didnt like the blue cheese.. it tasted, odd. It was almost sweet which is odd.. i should've asked for ranch.

They were really really short staffed too so it took forever. I wasn't complaining though, it was a spur of the moment thing and we had no plans for after dinner. They had 3 people waiting tables, only one of which was a dedicated waitress. The other two were the cashier and the hostess performing double duties, thats how crazy it was. Meanwhile the manager in the bank is helping make food and i hear him on the phone talking to someone about "she isnt going to work, this is the 5th time she's not shown up and hasnt called". It was nuts in there.

I left a good tip cuz i felt bad, i just wish my waitress wasn't the least attractive of the three. Does that make me a bad person?

The pasta was excellent! Highly recommended. I would say that it balances out about the waitress and tip.

thanks. i hate tipping only because i hate giving someone a lousy tip even if they deserved it. Then there are places i go to where i hate giving a really good tip because it might get split up at the end of the night. Why should part of my tip go to someoen who didnt even wait on me or anything? its a stupid system.

oh and maxi, nice avatar. poor jeff always gets the shaft though :(

as for the nuts on pizza debate; i havent tried it but i dont like them in my salads so i dont think i'd like them in my pizza. Nuts are a standalone snack to me.

On the subject of Pizza, we have this place here called Girdis (don't ask how to spell it ok" anyways they are this old style brick oven pizzaria and will litterally put any topping you want on it, they make the best pizzas ever and will put any topping you can think of. They don't do delivery though, but they are all you can eat also.

So a side note on the Pizza Hut, I find it funny that they are just now gettign around to advertising their pastas, which they have had forever, and now people are like "oh wow Pizza Hut now sells Pasta" when they always have.

On the Cheeseburger Pizza, yeah it was grose and didn't last long.

Now onto the tip subject, tipping is a must anyone who doesn't leave a tip is a cruel heartless bastard! you try working for LESS THAN minimum wage and then get stiffed on a tip you worked your ass off to get. Seriously the tipped employees get paid, after taxes, like $3.00 an hour, they LIVE on their tips.

Even if the guy was a jerk, you have to think outside of why he was a jerk and figure hey his life sucks ok he is working for table scraps and sometimes payday rolls around, the power bill is due and he put everything he had into the gas tank.

If he really needs the tip, maybe he shouldn't act like a jerk.

I wonder what RAB would think of that, he pretty passionate about no fruit on pizzas, what would he think of nuts?

I could be pedantic and point out that tomatoes, bell peppers, and many other "vegetables" are fruits, but instead I'll say that pineapple on pizza is absolutely disgusting.  Jalapeños, on the other hand, are a fine compliment to pepperoni.

Rat i do tip, even if they suck, i just don't tip as well as i would if they sucked. My rule of thumb is to just leave whatever the Tax x2 is. From there i'll leave more or less accordingly.

for example when i was at pizza hut last night. Total bill was $30.36
the tax was $5 and change so i put down $43+ cuz even though the service wasn't great, i just assume it would've been better if the girl waiting my table wasn't also running around doing the majority of the place. I felt bad because she was obviously working her ass off because they were understaffed so i gave her a little something extra, and i only saw her 3 times that night.

Now it'd be different if i go to a a nice establishment with a full staff and got ignored while there. If they just ignored me or seemed like they didnt care i'd give them whatever the tax is, maybe even round it up to the nearest dollar. You'd have to be pretty bad to make me leave you less though, but sadly its happened before.

and that, everyone, is why i hate tipping. I know i have to and i feel bad if i dont, but i'm too nice of a person to NOT leave a decent tip so it really hurts when i do and the person might not deserve it (or if i thinkt he person that DOES deserve it gets screwed because the joing splits tips)

Wait, so was your total bill $30 or $35?  (i.e. is tax included in your total bill figure?)

Regardless, you over tipped.  If tax wasn't included, you tipped approximately 25% ($30 x 1.25 + $5 = $43).  If tax was included, you tipped almost 50% ($25 x 1.75 + $5 = $43).

i said i felt bad the girl was bustin her ass and had to deal with assholes while i was there. I sat there trying to enjoy my food and had to put up with customers yelling at the poor girl for napkins or refills, when they know damn well the place is understaffed at the moment and have apologized numerous times. Then when the waitress would bring them what they want/needed they'd snicker and talk **** behind her back, you can just tell those other customers weren't going to tip her well. If you were in her shoes wouldn't you like a $10 tip for trying your hardest?

I don't believe in tipping.  I do it anyways 'cause I feel bad that restaurants have based their payment structure on their reliance on tips (and I'm afraid they'll spit in my food next time).  I shouldn't have to pay an extra five bucks or so every time I eat out to pay you for doing your job, god damnit!
Title: Re: The Can't Be Derailed Thread
Post by: DAaaMan64 on May 29, 2008, 03:44:04 PM
Owning a restaurant is a pain in the ass, and the money is no where. Thank god for tips or no one would do that job.
Title: Re: The Can't Be Derailed Thread
Post by: animecyberrat on May 29, 2008, 03:50:45 PM
If you can't afford to tip, then don't eat out. If you can afford to eat out, remember the person busting their ass to provide your service does not have that luxury.

I was saying if they sometimes have a bad day or something or are really swamped, they are doing their best, the people who suck balls and don't deserve the tip, they don't last anyways and will draw welfare when they get fired for being a jerk.

It is kinda different for Pizza Drivers cuz they get a paycheck, gas money and their tips, but for the servers, their tips are allocated from their paycheck and taxed as income so in reality they still make less than minimum wage, which last time I checked was a joke.

You have to keep in mind that if someone is willing to work such a shitty job it is likely the best they can do, it is often their second job and is still not enough to pay the increasing bills.

But I do agree it should be based on service, but only in as much as you take into consideration the circumstances, watch Waiting, it will put things into perspective.

I just don't understand the concept of obligatory tipping.  Waitresses need to make more money?  Raise the prices of your food to match the standard tip, and get rid of this stupid system.  It's just annoying.

I can afford to tip, I just think it's stupid.
Title: Re: The Can't Be Derailed Thread
Post by: BeautifulShy on May 29, 2008, 04:32:24 PM
When I got my pizza the other day I got it delivered and they charged for delivery. The charge was like five bucks so the delivery guy got screwed out of a tip. Would you pay the delivery guy a tip if you got charged to deliver it?
For restaurants the standing rule is 15% at average restaurants and 20% at top of the line places of what the bill is. At least that is what it is California.

If they did that nobody could afford to eat out, and even then they waitress still gets taxed the same.

Post by: Maverick on May 29, 2008, 04:39:06 PM
That wouldn't change anything, people just wouldn't tip.  It would be the same overall priced just conveniently included in the meal price.  Tips get taxed now anyways, so I don't see the problem.
Title: Re: The Can't Be Derailed Thread
Post by: animecyberrat on May 29, 2008, 04:42:51 PM
So what about sales people? Should they just get a flat paycheck, no commission? A tip is obligatory in that they need it to survive, but the amount is and should be based on the level of service.
Title: Re: The Can't Be Derailed Thread
Post by: nickmitch on May 29, 2008, 04:53:54 PM
Being paid on commission is essentially giving your own tip. On the subject of tips, I only tip when the waiter/waitress deserves it. If I don't like the service, they don't get a tip, simple as that. Some people get paid less because of their ability to get tipped. You can spot these people because they work harder.

I agree with you really. It'd be much easier, even though i hate eating out and seeing it listed on the freakin bill. For some reason that just angers me.

oh and rat your thoughts on the matter dont count cuz you obviously can't eat out much currently because of your lack of funds. Just kidding (i've been there) I do have a problem with the "the service might of sucekd cuz they were having a bad day" excuse. I've hated that excuse for anyone performing their job. I've been there, i've had terrible days in my personal life but i've never once let them affect my job (unless of course something drastic like a death or serious accident). Its BS because when you accept a job (especially in the customer service industry) you're expected to be some sort of saint, its your freaking job to please customers so saying "oh he was just being a dick cuz he had a rough day" is no excuse. Half the time they're having a bad day cuz they hate their job, how is that my problem and why should i sympathize enough to want to pay them for that? It's not my responsability as a customer to compensate them for a job they hate.

I shouldn't even tip as good as i do when they treat me like dirt, but i know its a rough world out there and money is important to get buy so i do my best, why can't they do theirs? I go to this one steakhouse often enough that they know my face, and there's one guy we get stuck with every now and again thats just bad at what he does. He's not having a bad day each time i have him either, he just sucks at what he does. He's not friendly, he forgets orders/request, he just sucks at his job.

I used to be a bus boy.  You know, the guys who set up your table and then clean all your nasty **** off of it when you're done?  The guys who do every little demeaning chore all day at minimum wage for the entire restaurant.  You know how much money we got in tips?  About two dollars max from each waiter working on our shift.  Usually culminating in about 10-15 bucks or so per person.

I didn't mind that though, 'cause it was extra money.  I was already getting paid minimum wage and that was what I agreed to.  The tip money was gravy.

Hot Topic inc; Sales Associate: $5.15/h
Hot Topic Inc; Pt. Ast. manager: $8.40/h

i busted my ass at that sh*tty retail job to work my way up from a seasonal associate to a part time assistant manager and i went from min. wage (in NYS in '04) to a dollar over what minimum wage was in '05.

Nintendo World Store paid me 12/h which was an awesome jump, too bad that was only seasonal for wii's launch. After that a held a few other jobs that paid 10/h and now i'm at one thats got me pulling 14/h (plus time and a half for overtime.. which i do overtime every week) so i'm OK financially now, but i wish i was doing better. Gas sucks and having to fill up every week is really killing me. I'm making enough to put stuff into my savings though so its good... now if only i could leave this job and find something i LIKE doing.. sigh :(

so i went to this ok italian restaraunt today.

i asked for chicken alfredo and they brought it out, it was just plain fettecini (sp?) alfredo. I asked the guy i ordered it with chicken so he takes the plate away and i expect to get it back with chicken, instead i got a whole new plate... and it was actually smaller than what was originally brought out to me.

oh and he took my fork when he took the plate th e first time, so i had to wait for him to come back again with a fork. it was a good meal. it was just me and my gf again so we're talking, and one of the bus boys comes and asks if i'm done and want my food wrapped up. his english wasn't so good i guess because i said 'no no its ok, i think i can finish up' and he grabs the plate and says 'so wrap it to go?' in his spanish accent and i say '.....................ok sure, i'll take it to go'

10 mins later i ask for the check and never got my food back. i don't think i'm going back there

oh and teee heee that banana looks funny

Human body parts. All I need is an appendix (you'd think it'd be easy since NO ONE needs it anymore).

But seriously, I like to collect nature. Like for instance I like to collect sand, water, shells, and flowers from beaches across the globe and stick them in a nice looking glass bottle. This may seem really gay, but I like to take a part of it with me, ya know?

I was in South Africa last October and while I was there, I went to Cape Point. This is where the Indian ocean and Atlantic ocean meet. There I was able to collect two different types of ocean within the same hour. You could really tell the difference with the Indian being warm and greener, while the Atlantic was colder and bluer. I'm almost positive I'm the only one in the world with a bottle filled with two different oceans.

I have a lot of favorite authors (Isaac Asimov, Arthur C. Clarke, Douglas Adams) but I figure if I'm going to pick one for this I should go with the guy whose photo I use for my avatar, John Swartzwelder. In addition to writing more episodes of The Simpsons than anyone else (59) and being the best at it, he's written 5 (so far) comedic novels. "How I Conquered Your Planet" and "The Exploding Detective" are two of the funniest things ever.

Help bring about world peace.

Get to a point where all of my clothing is hand-made by me.

Become a brickmason.

Become a neuroscientist.

Have 100 children.

Learn to shave with a straight-razor.

Fall in love.

Gain an understanding of the theory of relativity.

Become a magician.

Raise a family.

Create some good art.

Get back to a healthy weight.

Become a truck driver.

Become a caver.

Become an urban explorer.

Find a good religion.

Write a book or two.

Do I think I have what it takes to accomplish the above things? Yes.

I still have all those dreams except maybe the one about making my own clothing.

I sometimes wonder if my attempt to make light of his trollish thread about Wii review scores really was the last straw for him, but I honestly can't give myself that much credit.  I think I merely reminded him that he once threatened to leave when he reached 5000 posts, which in turn gave him the idea to self destruct for the attention.  I also think we haven't seen the last of him.  Chances are high that at least one of his dupes is still actively posting.

Title: Re: The Can't Be Derailed Thread
Post by: EasyCure on October 01, 2008, 11:05:18 AM
Oh yeah, a few times. I remember each in lots of detail too, especially that violated feeling you get plus the anger.

The first time i was about 5 or 6. Our family lived in an apartment house and we (my brother and i) were good friends with the upstairs neighbors. One night we went to a family parth that was actually directly across the street from us where our aunt lived and when we came back our room was slightly trashed and my brother noticed some of our stuff missing.

He accused the kids upstairs, our "friends", saying that they snuck in thru the window because it was open when we arrived home but closed when we had left. Our parents took us up there and explained the situation, their parents brought them out and they admitted to what they did. My brother got back our NES games and a couple of his TMNT action figures but the one thing of mine that i couldnt find wasn't returned. The lil brat was holding out on me and no one would listen. The item? It was the Bat Plane/Jet whatever it was called. It was an awesome little toy back when toys could be made of METAL. It was super durable with only a few scratches in the paint from the few times i'd dropped it. I loved that thing as well as my other Batman toys but that was my favorite.

The only other significant time i remember getting something stolen was in highschool. I was in PE at the time, but i wasn't playing because i was ill. I did however change into shorts (no, not gym shorts) so i could get a "participating" mark for the day but after a few mins of sitting on the bench i decided to go back and get my wallet out of my jeans which i left in the locker. When i did there was one other guy in the locker room and he saw where my locker was...

I get my wallet, go back out there and then decide to go back to the locker room and get get my cd player. From across the room i see my locker open... everything was missing, and by everything i mean my jacket, my jeans and my cd player. My first reaction was to punch the locker, which startled someone who walked in a few seconds after me and went to the bathroom. He comes out of the bathroom and was like "yo.. is that your **** in the bathroom? Theres like some clothes toss around in there." I go and in the last stall my jacket is hanging over the stall and my jeans are on top of the toilet with a pant leg dangerously close to being dunked in toilet water.

Inside my jacket was my headphones, which were ripped, probably because they yanked the cd player they were attached to out of the pocket and the headphones got stuck (it was a weird pocket). Blah..

I went to the PE 'teacher' and told him the situation, his response was "well the schools not responsible because you shouldnt of had it [the walkman] in school anyway." I tried to argue that it was the schools fault for not supplying locks for the fucking lockers.. There was no combination pad, there was no external lock/combo given to you it was just a rusty lil cubbin in a wall, half of which never even closed properly.

The worst part of it all? I couldn't even tell who the guy was, the one that saw me go in my locker and get my wallet out, because i didnt see his face and he probably wasn't even part of my class, just some kid that decided to come play basketball with his friends.

I can't remember much from people stealing from me, but I do recall this.One of my N64 systems( I had 3) got stolen while I was going to March Air Force base.I was in the middle of Ocarina of Time. I was doing the planting of seeds in those holes. When I got back My 64 and all my games were gone. I had Mario Kart 64 Vigilante 8, Turok 2:Seeds of Evil, No Mercy and Ocarina of Time. I was upset to say the least. I loath stealers.

Thanks! Took about an hour to throw it together after work (and take pictures lol) and i'm pretty proud of it, being as it was the first time i used prosthetics in my makeup work (the skull and mouth parts).

I have a few ideas for what i can do this year but i havent gone out and bought anything yet, or really sat and planned what i could do, though i do have some ideas floating around

Thanks, that was my favorite part. I wanted to dirty up the "bone" a lil more but didnt want to mess anything up so i pretty much left it as is. The prosthetic peice actually didnt have an eye socket to look out of and i've never been a fan of tiny slits in a mask to see out of so i had to take some DIY action.

You know those hoods you can buy that has a very dark veil covering your fave really well? I took one and cut out the material and glued it on to the eye peice so it'd look competely black to on-lookers but i could see pretty well thru it. Outside the effect looked perfect, in the pics however you can see the some light shining off it in the second pic.

This one time I was visiting New York and I found a car in a parking lot with a GameCube and a whole bunch of games stuffed in a backpack.  Needless to say, I broke into that **** and stole the whole load.  I even managed to snag copies of Pokemon Colosseum and Box.  But since Pokemon is for babies I sold them to GameStop for like 8 bux each.

I also got an amp and some subs that I gave to my neighbor in exchange for some crack.

Vudu, that's terrible, is that true?

Oh yeah.  ;D (http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/forums/index.php?topic=9880.msg126881#msg126881)

Well the first few posts were trying to give the topic a purpose.Couch monkey mentioned the three things you said. Then it got a little crazy.They talked about Kairon's Mermaid avatar.Bill put up some Pictures There was talk of Mother Brain.Bill was given the nickname Nou-chan.Bacon was discussed. Mashiro and Sir Stabalot had a fight.Bill made a comment about pants and munitions. Then 18 days talked about the Australian election.Then Golden Bumped the topic to combat Mistic Spikes Derail thread.Talked about Speed racer a little. Then Pizza. I  mentioned cashews and nobody liked that idea.Then it went to tipping.Then it went to egg rolls.Then to cab drivers.Then Smoke 39's hand and a banana.Then the rat talked about the sky and how it was blue. Then I commented on how I was trapped in a Dungon and made a game about it and two people found out what I was refering to and got a VC game.Then we talked about Gummy Savers.Then where people worked.Basketball was next.A little bit about Blades of Steel.The rat wanted a new person to obsess over.Then what everybody collected.Wierd Al was next.Favorite Author was next.Dreams came next.Then Wandering after he left.Then what have you had stolen.Then finally Halloween.

I wan't to see everybodys Halloween costume.Also how big was your candy bag.

She had an open wound near her cleavage but i'm not posting that picture for obvious reasons (ie vudu will FAP to death)

i'm sure i mentioned that even i was dissapointed with my costume. I had a really good idea but i had no time to execute it. I worked from 8-7, went out to try and find a vest randomly, tried to take a nap when i got home (i'd been up since about 4:30am and knew i'd be out late) but that didnt work, showered and only had about an hour to re-do my makeup (i had something similar, but very conservative, on for work) and nothing came out right so i just left the house as is. Next year halloween is on a saturday, so if i'm still at this job and have my weekends garaunteed off i'll definately have the time to make an amazing costume. Plus this time i'll make preperations early!

What did you get EasyCure?

Tequila (1800)
Crappy beanie hat (don't wear them)
Homer simpson pj pants (not bad I rarely wear pj pants though)
Boxer briefs (giving them to my mom to re-gift)
$20

Hmm I think that's it.

Xmas eve sucked cuz I was stuck at work longer than I should've been without taking a lunch break. I had to put up with xmas traffic but that's to be expected, and I had car troubles. I went home and couldn't shower since there was no hot water so I just changed and went back out to pick up my brother from the subway and my girlfriend at home. Some guest show up, one of which brings a dog that I'm allergic to so I had to take a benedryl which meant I couldn't drink at all (and I hadn't yet so I had no alcohol in my system :() which made me very sleepy. I ended up passing out at around 12:30.

Woke up took my gf home so she could bake stuff for the xmas dinner at her aunts house. That ended up being much b etteer. We had a great dinner with tons of great food. Her lil cousing challenged me to guitar hero lol. All in all the night was great... until I went home and found a big turd on my floor from the dog I was allergic to.. that family spent the night and stayed all xmas day and somehow the kids snuck in here. Sigh

God dammit I forgot to watch Conan.

I missed some of it but what I did see was awesomely funny. I haven't watched conan in yeears but he's still the same old guy, which is a good thing. My biggest fear when I heard the news he'd be taking over the Tonight Show was that nbc execs would force him to cut back and some of his quirky humour for the new audience he'd reach with the timeslot (ie getting rid of masturbating bear). Only time will tell if that happens but tonight was claaasic conan, and it was awesome seeing andy richter back with him too.

I'm giving jimmy fallon a shot right now, even though I despiiise him. Are The Roots really the house band?? Odd..

He made an xbox 360/wii joke.. it was a pretty lame monologue actually...

"So microsoft released a motion based camera, natal, for their 360. The good news is now that you have your hands free to play your xbox, you can also play with you wii"

Boooo

BEEF STEW RECIPE

Serve this flavorful beef stew with crusty rolls or biscuits for a hearty family meal.
INGREDIENTS:

    * 4 slices bacon, diced
    * 1 tablespoon olive oil
    * 1 1/2 pounds stew beef, lean, cut into small pieces
    * 3 tablespoons flour
    * 1/2 teaspoon salt
    * 1/8 teaspoon pepper
    * 8 ounces sliced mushrooms
    * 1 cup sliced celery
    * 1 1/2 cups chopped onion
    * 6 cups beef broth
    * 1 bay leaf
    * 1/3 cup pearled barley
    * 2 cups sliced carrot
    * 2 cups diced turnip
    * 1 large baking potato, cut in cubes
    * 1 cup green peas, frozen, thawed
    * 2 tablespoons flour blended with 2 tablespoons cold water, optional

PREPARATION:
Cook bacon over medium-low heat in a large stockpot or Dutch oven until almost crisp.

Toss stew beef pieces with the flour, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/8 teaspoon pepper. Add to the bacon mixture. Add olive oil. Add mushrooms, celery, and onion. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until beef is browned and onion is tender. Add beef broth and bay leaf. Cover and simmer over medium-low heat for 45 minutes. Add barley, carrots, and turnip. Reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 25 minutes. Add potatoes and simmer for about 25 minutes longer, or until vegetables and meat are tender. Add peas and cook for 10 minutes longer.

If desired, stir in the flour and water mixture. Cook, stirring, until thickened and bubbly.

I have a confession:

I made up a BS excuse to miss a few hours of work today just to go see up with, someone, and it was well worth it.

I was due in at work by 10 but told them i had some situation that required me to be in New Jersey and i didnt think i'd make it to work until around 1. This was because the first movie time for Up was at 11:30 and with the running time of 1:30(+), as well as the fact that the theatres ten mins from work, it woulda worked out well.

It didnt though. The previews were shown and the movie starts.. they started playing Terminator LOL! I thought we walked into the wrong theatre, but the only other people there were parents and their kids. They goofed up. We get back in the theatre, the lights come on and Terminator stops playing, but Up never comes on so one of the ushers comes in and tells us theres a showing for Up (also in 3d) at 12, in another theatre down the hall. It was only a few mins to noon so we decided not to fuss and just went down to the next, much larger theatre. Funny thing is, i shoulda known something was up when the first preview we saw during that first attempt was for "The Hangover" haha

The movie was great, so it was worth missing four hours of work for.. besides it not like i'm here for another 6 hours! :D... eh :(

Boooo

I saw tonight's show and it was very funny. They brought back the skit "The Year 2000" but now it is called The year 3000.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was there.The guests were funny. Excellent show.

Niiice. I'm surprised it took so long to change the name of that skit lol. They were doing it well into the 200's.

MAN i'm fucking bummed out today.. If no one knows where my avatar is from, its the newest Blink182 logo. They were like the first band i really liked as a kid and say what you will about their music, i'm still a fan because they broke the door down and thru them i got into a TON of different styles of music (like The Cure where my handle derrives from). They recently got back together and announced a summer tour and i FUCKED myself over by missing the presale date yesterday.

Actually, their shitty webpage redisigne fucked me over because i was able to buy tickets last week for a show in New Mexico (where i plan to go visit a friend who moved out there, and take him to the show) but the New York show went on sale this week but the site was redisgned since then so i missed the fucking presale date! I went on the site and it said the "sale date" was 6/6 and i thought "oh man they pushed it back again, gotta wait till saturday.." but no.. there was a tiny link for presale tickets which took you to a different page all together, which is different than last time.

So for the last half hour i've been ignoring my job because i'm trying to buy these fucking tickets cuz i promised some friends i'd treat them to a show (long time friends that i grew up with and we were all fans together) and now i feel like a douche cuz i might not be able to get them the tickets. The public ticket sale is still happening saturday but with my luck i either won't get good 'seats' or none at all.

At least i'll get to see them in New Mexico but damn.. i really wanted to see them twice this summer. FUUUUCK!

I finally got around to watching the first two Tonight Shows with Conan, I'm so happy that at least so far he hasn't changed a thing, it's the same show just an hour earlier. It'll probably change but it's great while it lasts.

I was SOOooo close to taking up whats-his-faces suggestion and naming the Funhouse "Easycure's Whiney Funhouse" because I think my sister gave me the flu, a day before my damn birthday but..

i remembered the rules wouldn't let me suggest myself ;)

So Pale's Not-So Funhouse was my other choice (butchered felt too strong of a word) because gone are the days where we can have a nonsense name that doesn't even have to have "funhouse" in it.

RIP Mocking Bird Pie etc.

When I first returned to the site I thought that the funhouse had been taken away and the "Hungry Hungry Hippos Strategy Forum" was a watered down version of the old funhouse.

The next name should have something to do with McDonald's Play Places or Chuck-E-Cheese.

Yes, you're the Joke Master. I think you are the one person I most associate with the funhouse since you keep the main joke thread going. Though there are a few other regulars as well. Sort of a line of usual suspects.

Yeah we have an obvious compatibility... as friends. But haven't you heard the saying "opposites attract"? Such people who are too similar would never get along as a couple. People need somebody who is the opposite of them so that this person can point out everything that's wrong with them.

I recall several fun days and nights of Mario Kart with the forum gang. I don't see any problems there. This is mostly daily because it is new and exciting...and I go no hours this week from work so I have nothing better than to write papers and post here and play games all day. And do the occasional chore.

Also I get the family computer to myself 24/7 because my parents and little sister are off camping for the week.  ;D

I'm trying to see how much of my beard I can regrow before I have to go back to work. It's coming along nicely.  :rolleyes:

I haven't seen a full room yet. Six players -- myself included -- is the most I've gotten.

We olny peak at 4-5 players, you know. Typically it is just Maxi, Kraken and myself. Occasionally Brandogg joins us but only for a short while usually. Adolph Vega was with us today and hopefully in the future. D_Average joined us for the first time today and Lindy and Jonny have both made cameo appearances once each since the game released (hopefully more, they were a blast).

Playing with Vega felt like a Radio Trivia Podcast, he had an iPod speaker hook up next to the WiiSpeak and was playing a whole slew of old Nintendo tunes. It got annoying eventually but if he had it a bit farther from the mic and had a more appropriate playlist for an FPS it would probably work great. I think TYP would get a kick out of it since it would be so reminiscent of his 'cast. Adolph was even quizing me on what games the songs came from. I didn't recognize half of them.

Wait what? You think I should have said more?
Or maybe a one-word answer would have sufficed? I doubt it. To me one-word answers seem more like the person is denying something. It can be difficult to find that sweet spot of saying just enough for it to not be misconstrued as something more. Or less.

Ridiculous.

I know I feel I've heard half of the music on the show even if I've never played the game in question. It is rather fun and I can get into it trying to guess the game and answer the questions. I'm working on catching up because I fell behind with my computer crash and am on 51.

Since I have some kind of phobia of starting new threads I'm resurrecting this thread to talk about something we talked about here in the past: Weird Al Yankovic. I've always been a fan of his (the first CD I ever owned and the last CD I bought are his and I own everything he's ever done) and I just wanted to make sure everyone knew about his most recent bunch of singles.

Whatever You Like (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yRVi0paZlfI), a parody of the song by the same name by T.I. I think it's the weakest of the ones he's done so far.

Craigslist (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZqciuoiikw), a parody of the style of The Doors but not any specific song.

Skipper Dan (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNo8LvdOwSk),  a Weird Al original, which are usually great and this is no exception, my personal favorite of these.

and finally, the one he released just this week, CNR (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IrGmD2wk8m4&feature=channel), what I am told is a parody of The White Stripes, a tribute to frequent Match Game panelist Charles Nelson Reilly.

Now, everybody's probably already seen these and I'm an idiot for wasting everybody's time but I had to make sure no one missed these.
