Sisyphus looks on in admiration...

Jon is out doing something more productive than this, so we delayed the first round of our WiiWare RetroActive (You, Me, and the Cubes; Bansai Barber) until next week. James forgot he actually had New Business, leaving the opening segment to Guillaume and Greg. Gui has a look at adventure/platformer Night in the Woods, now on Switch. It's a game driven entirely by its wit and charm, which thankfully it has in spades. He also gets limber with Wii Fit U, in anticipation of its cardboard-focused replacement. Greg concludes this rather paltry New Business with some thoughts on the demo for Radiant Historia: Perfect Chronology (now finally headed for Europe).

After the break we bowl through a huge number of emails. This is a lie...we get through three. This week we: identify the best remake candidates; kill off Nintendo franchises; and create a New New Super Mario Bros. You can demand blood via our inbox.

Just as a reminder, next week is our first set of WiiWare RetroActive games. As mentioned earlier, the games are Bonsai Barber and You, Me and the Cubes. You can post comments in their respective talkback threads.

We're also ready to announce our NEXT WiiWare RetroActive: Alien Crush Returns. We are going for a quick turnaround on this one; we'll be recording the segment on Episode 560, so get your thoughts in now.

Also remember that Bonsai Barber is one of these "you've done your work for today, come back tomorrow" games that uses the real time clock. So if you want the proper experience you better start playing it NOW to get a few days into the progression..

What time-stamp is the Celeste talk?  I can't seem to find it.

My mistake, I think it got cut and I didn't pull it from my notes. It's hard to keep track four days out. Greg DID talk about it last week though.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 doing over one million in its first month makes me feel pretty confident about the future of the series. It should end up between 1.5 and 2 million, which is what both Fire Emblem Awakening and Fates sold as of the last numbers we got from Nintendo. Xenoblade Chronicles X is also badly in need of a sequel, so there is an obvious path for where they could take the series next as well (I know it was suggested on last week's episode that a Switch port of Xenoblade Chronicles X could "add an ending," but there was so much content cut from the story that I think you would need an entire game for it).

People seem to think Monolith Soft is moving in a different direction for their next project based on art and job listings that came up a few months ago, so I suppose the rationale Greg used could still apply from that perspective (although I still expect the Xenoblade series to continue in the relatively near future, even if Monolith Soft's next game does end up being something else).

I have been using Wii Fit U as a secondary excersize almost every day for a bit over a year. Its a great bit of software.

That must be nice. I'd probably have wanted to use Wii Fit and Wii Fit U if I wasn't so physically impaired. I have a LOT of trouble exercising.
