In all of its myriad forms.

Following the launch of Binding of Isaac Afterbirth, Nicalis's next physical re-release is a couple of months away.

Cave Story+, an enhanced version of the PC freeware/WiiWare/3DS title, will launch in both physical and digital forms for North America on June 20 for a MSRP of US$29.99. Other pricing is to be announced.

With prices like these I guess I never have to worry about impulse buying anything on Switch ever.

Yeah, this pricing is absurd. What the hell is going on here? If indies were looking for an excuse for their games not to sell on Switch, they're fighting pretty hard for one.

I'm there for the physical release.

Persinally, I'm willing to let devs price their games however they want as long as they don't exceed the $60 ceiling.

I don't mind the prices so far. These Switch games have a portabie gameplay feature that is not present on other platform versions. And I have a hunch that physical releases will retain a good resale value in the long run, relative to disc formats.

The theory seems to be that these games cost so much because physical Switch cartridges are expensive, and Nintendo is insisting on physical and digital versions of the same game being priced the same. If that is indeed the case, this issue will correct itself with inevitable eShop sales (or it should, at least).

Yeah, it's $24 with Amazon Prime or Best Buy GCU, which doesn't seem that bad for a physical release. People who prefer going digital and want to play one of these games getting a physical release at launch are kind of getting the short end of the stick though (and, to be fair, that could be a sizable group of people depending on the game).

I haven't played this since I played the fan translation on the original freeware PC game. I keep meaning to come back to it. Maybe this time I will go for it.

The theory seems to be that these games cost so much because physical Switch cartridges are expensive, and Nintendo's retail partners is are insisting on physical and digital versions of the same game being priced the same. More accurate version of the post. I'm sure Sony would love to charge $40 at launch for their niche products (Last Guardian, what up) but retail would have a fit.

On the other hand, this is cheaper than the 3DS version at launch.
