Electronic Arts-published games whose online components were enabled through GameSpy will lose online functionality on June 30, the company has announced.

“Since GameSpy’s announcement, our teams have been working to evaluate options to keep services up and running,” reads a statement from the company’s corporate blog. “Unfortunately, due to technical challenges and concerns about the player experience, we do not have a solution at this time.”

GameSpy announced the May 31 closure of its hosted services back in April. The company’s technology served as key infrastructure for the online capabilities of many titles on both Wii and DS. It was revealed in February that online features for games requiring Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection would cease functioning on May 20.

Fans of the EA titles affected by this scenario will have a bit longer to enjoy their games. The company provided the following list of Wii and DS titles losing functionality at the end of June:

Exactly what does this mean for The Beatles: Rock Band DLC?  Will this content continue to be available, either for everyone or at least for people who have previously purchased songs?

My understanding is that the DLC will not be available for download after June 30. If you've already downloaded it, or download it before June 30, you should be able to continue using it...
