I'd buy this for Wii U, especially if it supported pointer controls. On 360 I have no interest.

I've never really understood the appeal of the Resident Evil series. I'm a stickler for good controls and I'm not really a fan of the survival horror genre (with exceptions: Eternal Darkness, Shattered Memories). I have been meaning to pick up Revelations though. I think I'm more likely to enjoy a survival horror game if it's broken up into segments or levels, and from what I understand that's what Revelations does.

If you've never played RE4, then you've missed out on the best game since Ocarina of Time up to that point.

I would add Chrono Trigger into that list as well.

Yeah, if you've only played the pre-4 games, know that everything RE4 and after is completely different, basically a third person shooter. I ignored the series after playing and hating the Resident Evil remake on GameCube, and only played RE4 on the Wii at a friend's house, which completely won me over.

RE on GameCube was effing great! The controls are horrible by 2001 standards, but it was a remake after all.

I played Resident Evil 4 on Wii and thought it was enjoyable. I think it's fair to say I don't hold in as high regard as some gamers do, but that's ok.
If you've never played RE4, then you've missed out on the best game since Ocarina of Time up to that point.
I've just checked by Book of Historical Facts and it seems that Metroid Prime is better than RE 4. Your statement is, therefore, incorrect. ;D
LET THE WAR OF THE GAMECUBE GAMES BEGIN!!

I stand corrected. It's really not fair too even talk about certain games being great unless you take out certain games like Ocarina of Time and Metroid Prime, since they are so far above just about anything else.

Gamecube had some real jewels didn't it? Eternal Darkness, Luigi's Mansion, Rogue Leader, Pikmin, Metroid Prime, Windwaker, Resident Evil 4, Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, Four Swords Adventure, Super Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door, Tales of Symphonia...

True.
@ShyGuy
I was actually thinking about this the other day, oddly while playing Majora's Mask (I was thinking about what that game might have looked like had it been delayed a year or two and released on Gamecube. My mind wanders.)
No one can deny that the Gamecube had some fantastic games, but the Gamecube ultimately ended up being a rather boutique console that catered directly to an increasingly insular Nintendo faithful. For as much as I personally loved the system (just look at the games you've mentioned!), I still think the decisions Nintendo took with the Wii were necessary to help them break out of that cycle.
Still, I get kind of nostalgic for that era of Nintendo.

London, UK. — January 22nd, 2013 — Capcom, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today confirmed that Resident Evil™ Revelations will release at retail for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft®, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, Windows® PC and Nintendo’s Wii U™ console across North America on May 21st and Europe on May 24th 2013. The title will also be available to download digitally from the same dates on PlayStation®3 for €49.99 and Windows®PC for €39.99 with details on digital versions for Xbox 360® and Nintendo’s Wii U™ console to follow.
Complete with high quality HD visuals, enhanced lighting effects and an immersive sound experience, the fear that was originally brought to players in Resident Evil Revelations on the Nintendo 3DS™ system returns redefined for home consoles. Furthermore, the home console version will deliver additional content including a terrifying new enemy, extra difficulty mode and improvements to Raid Mode such as new weapons, skill sets and the opportunity to play as Hunk and other characters from the series. Raid Mode, which was first introduced to the series in the original version of Resident Evil Revelations, sees gamers play online in co-op mode or alone in single player, taking on the hordes of enemies across a variety of missions whilst levelling up characters and earning weapon upgrades.
The critically acclaimed survival horror title takes players back to the events that took place between Resident Evil™ 4 and Resident Evil™ 5 and reveals the truth about the T-Abyss virus. Resident Evil Revelations features series favourites Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield, plus respective BSAA partners – Parker Luciani and Jessica Sherawat. The action begins on board a supposedly abandoned cruise ship, the ‘Queen Zenobia’, where horrors lurk around every corner, before players head for the mainland and the devastated city of Terragrigia. With limited ammo and weapons available the race is on to survive the horror of Resident Evil Revelations.
Resident Evil Revelations will take full advantage of Residentevil.net with content available to users once the game launches. Players can pre-register on the service from January 24th to gain early access to Resident Evil Revelations themed content with further information about online events to be revealed closer to launch.

Fantastic news. I was kind of hoping for a lower price point... but that'll fix itself in a couple months after release. Hopefully this means other people will get to enjoy this entry in the Resident Evil series as much as I already have.

Well, now that this is officially announced, I'm definitely getting rid of my 3DS copy ASAP. I'm tired of waiting for Nintendo to announce the XL CPP for North America, and the game controls like crap without it IMO. I'll just play the game on my PS3 and probably enjoy it much better anyway, though I have to admit the idea of playing it on Wii U w/ proper pointer controls is definitely appealing.

I predict if it gets pointer controls on the Wii U, it will get Move support on the PS3.

True, but that means digging up my Move, & unfortunately while the Move is a pretty good Motion Control device compared to the Wiimote, it is a TERRIBLE pointing device. But I guess it depends on the game, b/c while it was completely useless for the Wonderful World of Color that is Child of Eden, it was...ok with House of the Dead Overkill.

If you don't have it ready, you absolutely should wait. It's like $30 on 3DS last time I checked and the console versions are $20 more with a decent amount of extra content. Good deal in my opinion. Playing on a TV is a major selling point. If you don't get the Wii U version, you miss out on how much the touchscreen adds to the game, but it's probably more than playable without it.

Your pricing estimate is off. Amazon.com has it for $20 right now and prices have dipped under $15 occasionally - a steal of a deal for one of the best games on 3DS.
Although I agree that the console versions sound awesome and will add some great content (including new weapons, new characters for Raid Mode, a new enemy, a new difficulty setting, and random enemy placement in some mode) the pricing and immediate availability of the 3DS game makes it an appealing alternative.
Plus you get 3D graphics in the portable version without needing a 3D-capable TV setup - and Resident Evil Revelations looked really good in 3D! Not yet sure if console versions will have 3D support.

It wasn't an estimate. That's how much it was last time I checked. I don't typically go out of my way to look at the prices of games I already own, but I'll pass by them in stores whilst perusing other games. That said, the other week Revelaitons was still $30 at Best Buy.
In any case, if I knew a console version was coming, I would just get the console version, especially if it came with extras. I don't regret getting the game on 3DS though. That was the best game I played last year.

Fair enough. But for people trying to decide which to buy, the price difference may be significant enough to make the 3DS version a better deal right now. Depends on how you want to experience the game.
I do wonder if my reaction to Revelations would be the same on a big screen as what it is on a portable console. Even if the game doesn't change, my expectation might. Interested to see how people react to this release.

I was reading comments on a few sites. Some are pissed that there's no Vita release for all 7 Vita owners out there. Others are huffing and puffing how a port of a portable game isn't worth $50 which misses the point entirely. Games on dedicated handheld gaming devices (i.e. not smartphones/tablets) have reached a level of parity with home consoles minus the graphics (for Vita, that's not really true). If there was no 3DS version of Revelaitons, no one would say that it plays like a portable game.
Breaking: people like to complain.

Most of the reaction I've seen falls into two camps:
1) PC people who are "Sweet, this'll be $12 on a Steam sale by the summer". 2) Console people who are "WTF mate".
