Title: Wii Play: Motion and Mystery Case Files Hitting Wii in June
Post by: NWR_Neal on April 12, 2011, 11:13:30 AM

Ocarina of Time 3D rounds out Nintendo's June lineup.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/26026

Wii Play: Motion, Mystery Case Files: Dust to Dust, and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D will be coming out in June in North America, according to Nintendo of America.

Wii Play: Motion, slated for June 13, will come bundled with a Wii Remote Plus and contain 12 different mini-games that make use of the MotionPlus controls. Some examples include swinging a mallet in a Whack-A-Mole-esque game, and tilting an umbrella to glide along the wind.

Mystery Case Files: Dust to Dust, coming out on June 27, is a sequel to the DS title developed by Big Fish Games. Using the Wii Remote, players search for hidden objects in various environments. Friends can join the mystery in cooperative and competitive modes.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D is Nintendo's lone 3DS release for Q2 2011, and is due out on June 19. Ocarina of Time 3D will include Master Quest.

See below for the full list of releases for North America in Q2 2011.

They are finally following up Wii Play with a sequel?

It's about a year or 2 late now. It should have launched with the M+ or the WiiMote+ though.

When Does Club Nintendo end for the year? I want to use WiiPlay 2 to push me to Elite status if possible.
My mom's b-day is around then and she loves those mini games in the Wii___ series.

This will be the 4th "game" they've sold with a remote.

I think that's a mistake. It's supposed to be next Tuesday.

Wii Play: Motion. I can hear the RFN and Newscast jokes already.  :P:

Certainly diverse, though not as hard-hitting as last year's, what with Galaxy 2 and all. Though Ocarina of Time 3D and a few other 3DS titles sound interesting.

Wii Play: Motion, because that title's not silly or redundant at all.   ::)

I'm curious about Mystery Case Files, but otherwise that pre-E3 announcement release schedule is pretty sad.

3DS - Looking fairly solid up to E3! There are some interesting third-party titles coming before Zelda. Rest of 2011 should be good.

DS - Horrible, but that's no surprise since the successor is now on shelves.

Wii - A surprise Wii MotionPlus game would be exciting, if it was anything other than a Wii Play sequel. Mystery Case Files is a hidden object game; there are enough of those on WiiWare already, though this one has a story element. Nintendo isn't publishing any Wii titles in March, April, or May (an entire quarter!), and their last first-party developed titled was DKCR in November. I don't think it will hurt Zelda's sales to reveal some aspects of the next console at E3; even if it's not coming until 2012, Nintendo could benefit from the early hype and third-party interest.

Possibly, but I have a hunch that the next Nintendo console will be revealed in the same way as the 3DS: announced with minimal information early next year, then the full blow-out of details at E3 2012.

I'm harbouring small hopes that Nintendo has a final hurrah for the Wii in the second half of this year. Recent comments from an NoE rep have suggested that there are more Wii projects still to come - of course, these comments are often frivolous, but who knows, we might be in luck. Based on their attitudes to handling announcements, I don't think Nintendo is ready to lift the lid on the 'Super Wii' just yet.

I'm actually excited about Wii Play Plus.  I never got the first Wii Play, and this one seems to have... STONE SKIPPING!  A perfect use of the Wii Motion Plus.  The other ones I can see are Whack-a-mole and some umbrella floating game.

Ooh, new Wii Play game!

I'm also excited for this title. The original game was a lot of fun; I was thinking of going back to it earlier to beat some of my high scores.

I'd been meaning to check out the other Mystery Case Files games.... how does the room feel about them?

Also, I gotta say, I loooooooved Wii Play. Why?

One word.  One punctuation.

"Tanks!"

I don't see how this new game could improve upon Tanks! with M+, but I'd strongly consider purchasing any follow-up to that awesome game.  In fact, if they took the old Tanks!, added new maps and online co-op, I know at least 2 other people that would buy this and play it with me.

Also, like it or not, this is technically Nintendo showing support for the M+.  Just sayin'.  Is it SkywardSword calibre? No. But it's something.

Tanks would make a good WiiWare game.... also an even better 3DSWare game.

WiiParty didn't come with a remote.... did it?

I feel ripped off if it did, even though I got it in a B2G1 deal on Amazon

Well this is a surprise. After both the Motion Plus accessory and Wii Remote Plus launched, I didn't think there would ever be a sequel to Wii Play. My sister likes Wii Play, but I don't need another Wii Remote, so I'm disappointed there will be no stand-alone version. There are now tens of millions of Wii Motion Plus accessories and Wiimotes out there now so I highly doubt I'm the only one like this, so it doesn't make much sense to not have a game-only version, especially since there has already been a game to include a Wiimote Plus.

As for Wii Party, as far as I can gather it had a Wiimote bundle in every territory except North America.

You got 4 Wiimotes with 4 Wiimote plus accessories. Now the plan is to sell you 4 Wiimote+ that don't need accessories.

I just linked to the North American bundle for sale at Walmart.com... ?

Anywhoo, has it been confirmed for sure that there will be no stand-alone version?  I only have six Wii Remotes (two Plus' and two Motion Plus attachments) for my three Wiis, so I *could* use it... but considering how few 4-Player games that don't use GameCube controllers anyway, I'm not in any hurry to pick up more Wii Remotes.  It's a shame it's black, I already have a black Wii Remote Plus...

I didn't see your post because it appeared when I was making mine. For some reason I've stopped getting the message that pops up when someone posts when I'm writing mine, and I haven't figured out why that is. I searched for the option in my profile settings, but couldn't find it. Am I missing it, or is something else going on here?

Anyways, is that a Wal*Mart-exclusive bundle? I don't recall seeing it anywhere and it's strange there wasn't a picture and release date on GameFAQs. It has a regular Wiimote which seems odd to me.

As for selling more Wiimotes, I don't think FlingSmash sold very well and I have my doubts that Wii Play Motion will either, though it does have the luxury of being a part of the Wii Series.

Weird... I just checked your profile - you should get the warning, based on your current settings...

Anywhoo, I believe the Wii Party bundle may have been a Walmart exclusive.  Not sure.  As for it coming with a regular Wii Remote - it launched on Oct 3rd and the Wii Remote Plus didn't launch until November 7th... and since Wii Party didn't use Wii Motion Plus... it was a great way to get rid of some old inventory, eh?

You can see my profile settings? That's a little weird... SimpleMachines gives its mods/admins a bit too much user information. I guess it must have something to do with my browser settings. I do have FireFox's pop-up blocker on, though it displays a message when it activates... and I think I have NWR as an exception or something because I still get the New PM pop-ups. Oh well, I guess I'll have to check elsewhere.

For some reason I thought the Wiimote Plus was released in September. They must have a lot of stock of regular Wiimotes left over if they are still selling some, unless they still produce regular ones which seems a little odd if true.

Not only can I see them, but I can edit them too... >insert evil laughter here<
Though I'm sure you would have noticed, but remember, it's not a pop-up when there's a new message posted while you're replying - so the pop-up blocker wouldn't be effecting it.  Not sure what is though... Very odd.  Might post on the Site forum to get some input from MegaByte.

As for the Wii Party bundle, I figure they just threw a bunch together and shipped them out and that's that.  The game didn't exactly burn up the charts in NA and most people, by this time, already had all the Wii Remotes they needed - and the Wii Remote Plus had been announced at this point... There are so many reasons why the bundle is still around. :(

insanolord - you just have to figure out how to work the system.  First, you delete my post.  Then reply, saying all the stuff I said.  Then, you take a more recent post of mine from a completely different thread, move it into here, then reply to me yelling at me for being completely off topic.

I might consider Wii Party Motion if it was made available as a $10 WiiWare download for people who don't want another controller. However, that's not going to happen.

When you're a real staff member and not just playing pretend like you, you don't have the time to go through that kind of involved process for that little payoff.

Wait a second, there's no game-only version!?!? Arrrrgh!!

.... maybe I could get the stand-alone game used since gamers seem to buy games on day one and then return them later that day.  As long as one of those fellows keeps the WM+ it should work out, right?

Maybe it will be worth $50.

I mean you never know.

Okay, perhaps I have too much misplaced optimism at the moment.
