It will be on the simpler side since we've had several recent games on the complicated side. Days will end at 11AM PST and the new day will begin at Noon PST since I work nights and the times I get off can vary wildly. Plus I believe that will allow Europeans to play as well. Signups will run until the 5th/6th-ish and the game will start on the 8th9th. Long ago, before flesh and bone walked the earth in mortal toil, the ancients ruled all. Three great ancients became entrenched in a fight of control. These were Chattur'gha, Xel'lotath and Ulyaoth. The great ancient Mantorok took all three and sealed them away to keep them from destroying the world with their war. It was not till millennia later that one ancient, Chattur'gha, reached out to one Pious Augustus. When lured forth, the centurion was corrupted by the essence of Chattur'gha and reborn as his right hand in this world. Going forth Pious crippled Mantorok and began to move forth to release his god. Due to the gravity of the situation Mantorok, known also as the 'Corpse God', brought forth from the great beyond all of the previous heroes of light to the ancient Roivas mansion.
On the Ancient Chattur'gha's side (Mafia): >Corrupt One (Godfather) - Played by Pious in the game, he is the mouthpiece and right hand of Chattur'gha. He comes up in all searches except for the Librarian's as a Townie. If he is to be lynched by the Townies, the Greater Guardian will choose to make a move for power and destroy the essence allowing Pious to be killed. Then the Greater Guardian will become the Godfather. >Greater Guardian (Godfather's Bodyguard) - They are guarding the essence that dominates their Ancient. The Godfather cannot be killed until the Mafia's Greater Guardian is eliminated and the essence that protects him seized. Once it is, then the Godfather is vulnerable. >Bonethief - The Bonethief picks one player and 'infests' them. Their vote is changed every night. The Bonethief cannot leave the player of it's own volition. If either the Defender or the Psychologist choose to use their powers on an infested human they then can choose to drive away the Bonethief from the person. If it is the Psychologist then the person will live free for two turns but due to the damages will then die. If the Defender finds the infested person then he just kills the infested person and the Bonethief. If both find the infested person at once then the Bonethief is destroyed and the player will not die from the sustained wounds. Further notes on Bonethief It takes control of the person's voting behind the scenes. It basically gets to choose that person's vote each night it controls the victim. The infected player can still post votes and act normal, but their vote is changed by the bonethief during the night actions like a regular 'vote changer' role would do. The infected player CANNOT reveal their status in the main threads or else they will be instantly killed by the bonethief as it bursts out of the player's body to flee and avoid being caught, so the bonethief's identity remains anonymous. They can tell people in PM's.
Yes, the bonethief is stuck in that person until the psychologyst and/or defender decide to act on it. I was originally going to make the purging actions automatic but I have decided to give the players the option of what to do. If the defender or the psychologist decide to use their powers on the infected player then they will receive a PM regarding the fact the person is infected. They can then choose to act to purge the player or wait until they can get the other person to help them out. Remember that if the psychologist tries to do it alone the player will only be free for two game days and then die and the bonethief will live. If the defender acts alone then the player and the bonethief will be killed. If both act together then the infected player will not die due to the bonethief and the bonethief is killed.
If the infected person is voted out then the bonethief bursts out of them and flees without being revealed to everyone.
This poses several options for the people of Light; if you have the manouvering room you can wait until the psychologist and the defender know each other and save the guy the best way together; the other options are available for various situations.
If there is a countdown for the recovered infected until death it goes like this: healed by both Light players night of day 3. Lives and votes day 4, lives and votes day 5. Dies immediately once day 6 is posted.
Also, the player who is the bonethief still gets their own vote. (I know some of these facts run contrary to the properties of the bonethief in-game but work with me, I'm playing with the continuity as is for Mafia's Sake)
>Vampire - This creature can nullify one player's power each day. This means it can block kills, remove protections and bar the information gatherers from receiving any knowledge.
For the Mantorok side; The Gathering of Light (Townie side): >Guardian of Light (Librarian) - This player is able to search the Tome of Eternal Darkness and search the souls of three players of their choosing. Their roles will be revealed to this player. Even the godfather role. They will find out what their status is and what role is causing that status. They will not find out who is causing these status issues unless that player is also named. They can request this information all at once or one at a time as they see fit by PMing me the requests. >Clinical Psychologist (Vote changing role) - He is able to convince a player to change their vote to his choosing each night. >High Defender (Traditional Doctor Role) - One of the strongest of the Chosen Ones. He can choose one player per night to defend from the machinations of the Corrupt One and his minions. >Acolyte of the Light (Investigator) - This person is able to inquire of any other players roll once per day. They do so by PMing me. I will respond with the answer. Infested people will register as 'infested' but the person's original role and the name of the Bonethief will not appear when the infested person is searched. >Chosen Ones (Regular Townies) -
One fights for Another Power: >Agent of Balance: The Fallen Chosen (Murderer) - This person is a mystery. They serve some other 'higher power' other than the three embattled ancients. He seeks all other followers to cease existence. His attacks on the protected Godfather and other protected players will be rebuffed like any other attack. He is able to make one attack attempt per day.

Other rules and Notes: Night actions can be submitted at any time. You can even post them ahead multiple days if you need to (that seemed to work out well before). Just be sure to specify which days the hits are for or else I will assume they are for the upcoming night. And please specify by mafia days (i.e. Mafia Day 1, 2, 3, etc.) if you send them in advance. I see this as being the easiest way to avoid confusion.

Eternal Darkness seems very appropriate for a game of Mafia; I'd like to give this a try this go around. Wide cycles work for me, as we'll mostly likely have a new baby and my days will be irregular for a while.
I'll choose to be Paul Luther.

Eternal Darkness is the best game I have never played. I bought it back when it was first released because of all the hype, but then I never got around to playing it before I sold it a couple of years ago.
It would be only fitting if I were to sign up for this game, but never play it. Now, if only I could sell it...

For everyone who is new to the game, here is a quick rundown of the basic rules, courtesy of Khushrenada. I don't know if Stratos is planing any special rules or roles for this game, we'll have to wait until he posts the details. If anyone has any questions, please ask them before the game begins.
How to Play
Playing mafia can be summarized in one word: Survive! As long as you are still alive in the game, chances are you are winning.
Of course, it is a bit more complicated than that. You should remember that there are two sides to a mafia game. You are either a part of the townie side or the mafia side. If you belong to one side, you are looking to eliminate the rival side. So, how do you eliminate players?
Everyday there is a vote to choose one person to eliminate from the game. The person with the most votes at the end of the day is killed. Both sides can vote during the day, mafia and townies. However, after the day vote, there is a night action period. During this time, the mafia can send in a hit for whichever person they choose. The townies have no say in the matter. The next day or turn, the townies learn who the mafia killed and the game repeats until one side is left.
The victory conditions are a bit different for either side. For the townies to win, every mafia member must be eliminated. For the mafia to win, they just need to equal the number of townies left. So, if there are 3 mafia members left and 3 townies, the game is over and the mafia wins. The reason for this is that mafia members are supposed to be so powerful as to overwhelm the townies one-on-one. Obviously, if the townie number is lower than the number of mafia remaining, the mafia wins. A tie is the minimum win condition for the mafia.
It should be noted that there may be a role that doesn't fit into either category (mafia or townie) and has a different win condition. This role must also be eliminated before one side can claim victory.

Game will happen. Like I said, something came up last minute that took up a good chunk of my time. I'm posting rules tonight.
~Rules up! Day's will end at 11AM and next day will happen at 12PM Pacific Standard Time.
8th is the starting day.
My work schedule is Thursday-Monday around 5PM to 12AM-ish or later. I will try to be available as much as possible during my off work times.

Liking how everything is set up.
Even brought back some old role from previous games.I'll look at things closer and see if there is any problems.
If vudu can't start on the 8th why don't we start on the 9th unless that is a problem for you Stratos.
Edit:Okay only thing I see a problem with is the Greater Guardian role. Normally the bodyguard role works like this. If the person being protected gets voted out or killed than the body guard will die but the protectee will still be alive. The way you have it set up it means that things have to be killed in a certain order. Than again if you go my way than that means that Pious will be killed easily the next day.In the game you had to kill the Greater guardian first though so my way isn't in the context of how it works in the game.
Um I'm rambling. What does everybody think?
Other than that maybe the mafia is to big but it is best to wait till sign ups are done before deciding.
Stratos can you bold the roles they kinda blend in with the other words.

Just a few questions. -Since the night action is 1hr long when some of us are at work, can the actions be submitted before the vote ends at 11am (say 7am)? -Can you clarify the bone theif? As I understand it, infects someone and if not discovered, kills the infected person. If the psycologist finds the person and they live for 2 days, is the bone theif stuck in that person, or do they chose a different person the next day? Also if they infect one of the special class characters what happens (defender for example), can they still be removed/killed?

Title: Re: Eternal Mafia - Sanity's Rebirth

I'm AWOL?
I was going to answer those questions tonight. But thanks for putting them into an easily quotable format for me Maxi! Are these all of them?
Just a few questions. 1-Since the night action is 1hr long when some of us are at work, can the actions be submitted before the vote ends at 11am (say 7am)? 2-Can you clarify the bone theif? As I understand it, infects someone and if not discovered, kills the infected person. If the psycologist finds the person and they live for 2 days, is the bone theif stuck in that person, or do they chose a different person the next day? Also if they infect one of the special class characters what happens (defender for example), can they still be removed/killed?
1-Night actions can be submitted at any time. You can even post them ahead multiple days if you need to (that seemed to work out well before). Just be sure to specify which days the hits are for or else I will assume they are for the upcoming night. And please specify by mafia days (i.e. Mafia Day 1, 2, 3, etc.) if you send them in in advance. I see this as being the easiest way to avoid confusion.
2-It takes control of the person's voting behind the scenes. It basically gets to choose that person's vote each night it controls the victim. The infected player can still post votes and act normal, but their vote is changed by the bonethief during the night actions like a regular 'vote changer' role would do.
~!~ Also, I am moving the starting day to the 9th as people have asked. Also gives me a bit of extra time to prepare since I got a flat Monday night and my wrench broke so I was stranded last night and the first part of today and got next to nothing done concerning the game or in the real world.

Okay a few questions based on those answers.
Say I have a role and I have a busy few days ahead of me. So I send in my actions. Are these proritized by time? Like If I was the first person to send in actions would I get to be first or does all actions happen at the same time?
Does the infected know who the bonethief is once he or she is infected? Can the bonethief burst out at anytime?

-All Actions occur at the same time. -The infected knows when they are infected.
As it says in the rules: "The Bonethief cannot leave the player of it's own volition." It can be forced out, but never can you just leave.

Well, sending out roles before the game begins would give time for the Mafia to plan something out before the game starts. So, you have to decide if you want them to have that little period of advanced planning, or if you want everyone to start at the same time.
