The past transmissions have showed off different aspects of gameplay, but the eighth entry reveals Luigi as another playable character.
It is unknown whether or not he will assume his role as the reward for collecting all the stars, or if players will be able to choose him from the start.
We'll find out more as we get closer to Super Mario Galaxy 2's May 23 release date.
You guys need to stop posting these types of news tidbits.I agree. They should change the headline and add the spoiler tag to the article.
For those pretty much saying that this isn't a big deal what if people want to find about this type of stuff on our own. It pretty much messes up the experance of knowing things beforehand before you get to find out about it. Another thing there could be people that just stopped playing Galaxy after they got 60 stars and didn't get all the stars.
So yeah cut down on the spoiler news staff.
Damn straight.
NWR: Pissing on your good times since 1999.
So because Nintendo releases something to the public and press it is deemed not a spoiler. Don't you think it is up to the customer to decide what is a spoiler and what isn't a spoiler?
And there you have it. The gaming press simply regurgitates whatever the publishers feed them.A troll appears.
Thanks for reinforcing readers' confidence in this great internet.
Do you remember the feeling you had when you completed Star Road in Super Mario World and were sent back to the first stage only now all the Koopa shells had been replaced with Mario masks? You're never going to experience a feeling like that ever again.I remember finding the Star Road, and finding the Special Zone was a surprise because I thought that secret exit was just going to loop around the Star Road like every other secret exit there. An extreme example is from Zelda: Link to the Past, where I had no idea the Dark World existed. I thought the wizard would be the final boss of the game. Experiences like this will never happen again thanks to the Internet.

Ha ha, good to know. Now I feel a bit less like an idiot. ;)QuoteAn extreme example is from Zelda: Link to the Past, where I had no idea the Dark World existed. I thought the wizard would be the final boss of the game.
This happened to me too. Coolest game moment ever! :) Though I'm pretty sure they mention the dual worlds thing in the manual. I just only had the cartridge since I bought it used.
And remember that the good old days of "not finding out anything about the game" happened pre-internet (basically). Back in the days of SNES there was no internet coverage of video games, period.

I remember the glory days of videogame magazines. It was actually pretty fun keeping up with this stuff a month at a time. I used to read a magazine like Gamepro cover-to-cover even reading reviews for like CD-i games that I never even saw in stores.
I would have a headline like "new Super Mario Galaxy 2 trailer reveals new power-up". Pretty simple. If Nintendo has new screenshots or trailers going then you have to put them on NWR. Though I remember I did a media blackout for Twilight Princess and it worked like a charm. I didn't have things blown for me in headlines. New trailers and screens came out and I just ignored them.
Ah yes, I remember when N64 was revealed, I used to love drooling over the SM64 screen shots. It was almost magical.
I'm of the idea that specific features of new games should not be considered news items unless it's something that would appear in the manual. Maybe this would be, hard to say, but it seems that ANY info is freely shared in the headlines. And this isn't an NWR knock this is something every site does.
Yoshi is no big deal for this game because he's on the damn cover. But this doesn't sound like something that was going to be out-in-the-open. If Joe Blow, buying the game without knowing anything about it, wouldn't know about something from the ads, the back of the box or the manual then it's a spoiler.
I know you two are joking, but I'm not. I don't much care for this.

Yeah but remember, Human form Midna was on twilight princess's cover and the staff would have been hanged by the forumers if they leaked that on the front page...

Midna is not on the TP cover, either the Wii or GCN version. Only Link is on the cover, his human form and his wolf form. I doubt they even considered putting her human form on the cover considering you don't see it until the final cutscene of the game.

I've got the E3 1996 issue of Gamepro and it's really cool to look back over. It covers all the initial N64 games plus some big Playstation titles like Tomb Raider and Crash Bandicoot, NiGHTS for the Saturn and even Tetris Attack for the SNES. It's interesting to look back at games that turned out to be big hits and ones that they were all hyped up about but turned out to be duds or even outright vapourware. The N64 stuff includes Robotech, Biofreaks as a launch title and Kirby's Air Ride which later became a Gamecube title. Goldeneye is glossed over and sounds totally unremarkable in the write-up. And despite the Playstation having the most games shown the N64 was clearly given the biggest attention. The assumption seemed to be that as the market leader Nintendo would continue to be on top.
I heard Yoshi is in this game too.And Sonic The Hedgehog.
I heard Bowser is the final boss of the game.
You're totally off there. You see, Mario teams up with government agents and discovers a giant crater. In it, they find Thor's Hammer.
If Nintendo deems to release something TO THE PRESS AND PUBLIC, then it's not a spoiler.
It's not like this is a rumor or something we secured from an inside source. This is public knowledge.
For ****'s sake, people.

Maybe they would have mentioned it if it wasn't filled with 3 translations of every piece of text.
Also put them up online in whatever language you need and you can print it out at your leisure.Nintendo does the latter. http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/manuals/index.jsp
