Announcement Post:
The following people are dead:
Pale - Townie (killed by vote) DrewMG - Townie (killed by mafia)
So much townie bloodshed.
Voting ends at the same time. Midnight EST. Night actons due due by 30 minutes thereafter. With that, I'm going back to bed. Night everyone.

I vote Mop it up.
Her PMs have convinced me that she is Mafia and she is more evasive than usual.

Day 1's rundown
--Thatguy: un-vote Vudu (Doesn't like Vudu) --Mop_it_up: un-vote Stratos (Traditional Day 1 vote) GP: Vote Stratos (Following Mop_it_up's vote) Dasmos: Vote DAaaMan (Posted first in the thread out of him and Pap) DAaaMan: Vote Dasmos (Retalliation vote) --thatguy: un-vote Stogi (Stogi's claim of ignorance to PM'ed roles.) Spak: Vote Insanolord (hunch Pale: Vote Insanolord (Likes Spak's hunch) Pap: Vote Dasmos (No reason cited) --Maxi: un-vote Pale (Just to see what happens) --thatguy: un-vote Vudu (It was possible Stogi made a mistake) Stratos: Vote Dasmos (Break the tie between he and Dasmos) Thatguy: Vote Stogi (Stogi asked people not to vote) Maxi: Vote Insanolord (No reason cited at the time, lack of participation stated later) --Stogi: Un-vote someone. (Not sure who or why, it turned to un-vote Bubba Khush) Stogi: Vote Pap (No reason cited) Mop_it_up: Vote Insanolord (To break the tie; wouldn't be here, so wouldn't be missed) Vudu: Vote Insanolord (To prevent possibility of a tie)
--thatguy: un-vote Stogi (Believes post about not having a PM to be a charade) Dasmos: Vote Pap64 (Has a '64' in his name) Spak: Vote Pale (Followed Spak's hunch about Insanolord yesterday, effectively beginning a bandwagon) --DrewMG: un-vote Stogi (Likes thatguy's logic) --vudu: un-vote Nickmitch (Nickmitch is experienced, but hiding) --thatguy: un-vote Vudu (Vote to eliminate chance of Day 1 tie, taking things out of nullifier's hands) stevey: vote Pale (Kills off stevey for always outing Khush) Pale: vote Vudu (guaranteed Insanolord's death on Day 1) Vudu: vote Pale (Pale's logic is poor; I wasn't around last night to prevent a tie, so a tie could have been worse) Stogi: vote Kracken (no reason cited) DAaaMan: vote Dasmos (no reason cited; "DAAAASSSMMMOOOSSSS") Mop_it_up: vote Pale (Pale's previous post, "I like bandwagons," reminds her of how he played as mafia before) thatguy: vote Pale (Pale latched on to Spak's vote) Pap: vote Pale (Joined the bandwagon, no idea who else to vote for) kraken: vote Pale (likes to follow, not sure what else to do)
Day 2's end tally: Pap: 1 Vudu: 1 Kraken: 1 Dasmos: 1 Pale: 7
If anyone would like me to make an alteration to their stated motives that does lie in with what was said during the previous day, just let me know and I'll make the change, as long as it's brief, less than one line, and honest.
Late Edit: Day 2 accidentally said my first vote was for Vudu, when in reality, it was for Stogi.

I hope no one minds the double post, but I'm going to keep that post by itself, trying to avoid any bias that I would show in usual posts.
Anyways, I'm shocked by the insignificant number of people who've contacted me about the nullifier role. I'm truly surprised about it. As far as who I believe is mafia, my short list, with reasons, is this: Vudu -- He sealed the deal on Insanolord, preventing a tie. Had he been familiar with the rules, due to the nullifier, ties may not be a bad thing when the alliance of the voters are unknown, because the fate of the tied players is in the hands of a bonafide townie. Beyond that, had things stayed a tie, in this game, it would mean all tied players live, a theme I'm personally against, but it doesn't mean double deaths, like most Khush games.
Stogi -- Now Stogi's even admitted to me, though via PM, that he was feigning ignorance when he made his post. His reasoning was that he believed by acting stupid, people would believe he's a townie, and a townie alliance would begin. I then spoke to him about Vudu, and afterwards, he accused me of being a member of the mafia.
Mop_it_up -- I just doubt that Stratos would seriously go after Mop_it_up if he didn't absolutely believe she's in the mafia. Also, I don't see why she switched her vote on the first day, from Stratos to Insanolord, but that said, on Day 2, I did just about the same thing with little reason.
I'm going to un-vote Mop_it_up for now, I think she's a good lead, but I'm willing to shift to the other two on my list, as well.

Stogi voting for another random player out of the blue without a reason strikes me as odd.

I agree with your thoughts on suspects, Thatguy.
Title: Re: Mafia XXXVI: Donkey Kong. Day 3. Underwater Aquatica.
Post by: Stogi on August 12, 2009, 02:31:54 AM
Thatguy, I think your forgetting the most important part of conversation.
It is true, I, Kashogi Y. Stogi feigned ignorance of the rules but not for the reason I stated to thatguy. I told him I wanted people to instantly believe I was townie and thus begin a townie alliance. The plan, I admitted, was stupid. But that was just a ploy to see how he would react. And react he did.
Little did he know, my real plan was to see who was dumb enough to instigate me as mafia for such a pitiful reason. Everyone else thought I was playing dumb for dumbness sake, but thatguy thought I was trying to be clever even though it should have been laughed at for being so transparent.
Now why is that? It's because he is mafia. He was trying to use me as any mafia player would in order to kill an innocent townie. When I told him that I had lied, he merely shrugged it off and stated something to the effect of "well I guess we're back to square one." That sealed the deal.
VOTE THATGUY

Wait, so what's the original reason you posted that you didn't receive a PM?
You have made it clear that you knew townies weren't supposed to receive PMs this game.
You told me you did it to gather a townie alliance because you believed they'd believe you were ignorant to that rule.
Now you're saying from the start it was a charade to catch me for being suspicious of your admitted lie, right?

I'd still like to know the pathway at which you arrived to the conclusions, and your goals behind your actions. I don't see how what you did at the beginning would create a pathway to believe I'm in the mafia.
I called you out. You confessed I was right. I posted what you said. You say everything that happened was an elaborate scheme to out me as mafia.
I don't get it.

Title: Re: Mafia XXXVI: Donkey Kong. Day 3. Underwater Aquatica.

Well it was two things:
One, you forced the issue. While everyone else saw through my "terrible" plan, you are desperately trying to use it as proof.
And two, when confronted with the truth, after two whole days of KYS brand shadiness mind you, instead of being justified and screaming to high heaven what I had done. You SHRUGGED IT OFF.
Now why would anyone in public desperately try to prove I was lying, then in private not care?
Mafia.

I didn't shrug off anything. You ended your last PM to me with the phrase "Checkmate." I replied. From there, a new day began, and I still hadn't heard anything from you, so in the end, I decided to post what you said the idea was. You were the one who shrugged things off, and stopped talking with me, Stogi.
As far as everyone who "saw through" your plan, I don't think that makes sense, either. Which of your stated plans was it that everyone but me saw through?
Edit: For the record, I'm sticking to the "Mop_it_up" vote, though. You've got to clear the crumbs off the floor as the first step to keeping the pests out of the house.

Guys, we have two people here (Stogi and Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaman) who are voting for thatguy, someone who we know is a townie.
Why am I the only one who has a problem with this?
VOTE STOGI
You don't have to like thatguy, but you need to accept that he's on our side.
Attention: If you are the nullifer and you are not thatguy it is imperative that you come forward. You don't have to post it in the day thread but you need to PM someone so they can alert everyone that thatguy is a dirty liar.

Well, technically, we could wind up where things are in a tie, and then I could just cancel a vote against me to break it, if you all want. The only issue would be if someone is unreliable and changes his or her vote at the last minute, since I can't create a tie.

That's what I would be afraid of. Not only are the mafia sneaky, but the townies are dumb.
Since no one has come forward to refute your claim I'm going to take you at your word. (That, or you're at least in contact with the nullifer, which is almost as good.)

If thatguy is really the nullifier, then the mafia should kill him tonight, right? It only make sense to target a rolled townie (unless the doctor steps in).
Title: Re: Mafia XXXVI: Donkey Kong. Day 3. Underwater Aquatica.
Post by: that Baby guy on August 12, 2009, 04:42:00 PM
Well, that's their issue: If the mafia targets me, there's a good chance I'll be protected. That's why I did what I did, I figured I'm a high-priority target, and so the best way to fight against that is to just put myself out there, at the mercy of the doctor.
Title: Re: Mafia XXXVI: Donkey Kong. Day 3. Underwater Aquatica.

What if the doctor doesn't trust you?
Title: Re: Mafia XXXVI: Donkey Kong. Day 3. Underwater Aquatica.
Post by: that Baby guy on August 12, 2009, 06:16:48 PM
Well, the mafia will kill me, then. What if he does, and they try to hit me, and they waste a hit? There's a lot of possibilities, but I think the path I chose was the one most likely to get me through this alive, since had I not chosen it, I probably would have died yesterday.
Edit: I just got clarification from Khush: I can not create a tie, but people after me can create one. Essentially, if the vote is 5-1, I can block a vote here, and later, even if the votes appear to be 5-6 (5-5 with the blocked vote,) the blocked vote still stands, because when I caused the block, the vote wasn't a tie. A simpler way to say this is that I can't change a vote with the intention of making a tie upon the vote being blocked. It's a matter of timing, as it stands now.
If necessary to prove myself, we could probably create a vote scenario where I can verify myself even tonight, but it would take the full cooperation of all the players, as well as a unified decision of who the second person to go up against me and "lose" the tie, as well. If the town figured out that, then I'd be happy to vote for myself and cancel my vote as the start of this, and let everyone else play their part to prove my identity.

Reading walls of text on the wii sucks; and his pm was whether I was the nullifer... Placeholder vote stay until I finish reading everything.
Outing yourself as a role if you are a townie is suicide and is a part of Khush's "Mafia: 100 sure fire ways for the mafia to rape the townies" playbook.

OK, a little more about my accusation of Mop it up being Mafia:
When I tried to find out why she voted for me she said that if I didn't know why then she couldn't tell me. The way she worded it was odd because of the phrase can't. I could understand someone with a vendetta saying "if you don't know why I'm upset with you then I'm not telling you" but she specifically said can't.
I also asked her about her vote for Insano as she was the one that broke the tie before Vudu followed to secure it from Nullifier interference and all she said was that she had her reasons.
She also has stopped talking to me today. I think she is trying to lay low and hope that she slips off the radar in the midst of this Stogi vs Thatguy fight.
So here is an offer to those voting Stogi, please join me in voting out Mop it up. I promise to join you tomorrow in voting off Stogi. We combine out votes on both days and we should have a clear majority both times. Thatguy is pretty much confirmed Townie so I'm going to view a vote against him as a Mafia move.
Interestingly enough, three of the four people currently voting against Thatguy were already on my Mafia Suspects list.

I LOVE that book. Was a #1 bestseller for 17 weeks in a row.
Now on to business and to make sure everyone knows how I view the Nullifier's power and what it can and can't do. Let me explain it this way:
If the vote was 4-3 and he nullified a vote at 11:59 to make it 3-3, it would not be accepted since that would create a tie at the deadline vote.
Let's say that the nullifier got rid of a vote mid-day when the vote was something like 6-1, making it 5-1. If by the deadline, the vote ends up being 5-5, his nullification would still stand. Even though a tie has occured, his nullification isn't the main reason why it ended up tied.
This is different to the 11:59 action where the nullifier deliberatly knows that removing the 4th vote will tie things up. It is that type of action I am looking to prevent.
The nullifier's power is meant more for breaking ties but I'm willing to allow it to be used for some strategy.
Hopefully everyone gets how it works now.

Let's see the tally:
thatguy--4 Mop_it_up--5 Stogi--4 Vudu--2
I believe this is current an up to date. If we get three more votes on Mop_it_up or two more on Stogi, I'll change my vote to myself, and nullify my vote, as well, to show I'm the nullifier.
Edit: If you're wondering why I'd be nullifying my vote, and not someone else's, it's in case someone tries something tricky in the last minute. If suddenly votes turn against me, I'll just change my vote, and nullify someone else who voted for me, so I'll live.
2x Edit: Including tally of votes below. Two more votes for Mop_it_up, and I'll change mine away from her, and vote for me, instead, and then nullify my vote to remove the tie.

I gave a reason when I voted: to break a tie. It wasn't much of a risk to vote out Insanolord because he wasn't going to be able to post much, so if he weren't Mafia then it wasn't much of a loss.
Voting Mop_it_up because anyone who like Wii Music is up to something. Its all part of a big conspiracy!
You aren't supposed to let personal opinion cloud your judgment. Bad form! Oh well, at least you're actually participating unlike a certain other new player...
Anyways, I guess I have no choice but to un-Vote Thatguy to save myself. Though admittedly I'm not sure what he's talking about with this whole scheme of nullifying a vote to prove his role...

I've fixed that now, my apologies for the mistake.
As far as voting for you, I believe the reasons I am are this: Stratos, from browsing other games, has good instincts, you're his "forum BFF," you're partly hiding (Hence why we've called you out early in the day, so you'd have to come out at some point ;)), and lastly, I personally think Maxi and DrewMG targets are people you'd aim for, people that other players wouldn't be too concerned about until the middle of the game.
The last, of course, could just be someone hitting targets in a tricky manner, but it's difficult to say. The reason why you're up to bat right now is that it's very possible, in our eyes, that you're the godfather. I'm not saying you are, but I'm saying of the top suspects I have, you seem most likely to make the hits that were made.
Edit: That said, I'm more convinced Stogi is in the mafia than you are, so I'm on the borderline about him, and stuff. If you both (Mop_it_up and nickmitch) switched your votes to Stogi, I'd vote for myself, to even out things, and do that whole proof thing, since most people voting for me seriously want me to die.

OBJECTION! :thumbsdown; Stogi's avatar is awesome and thus can't be evil.
Stevey, do you not pay attention? thatguy claimed to be the nullifer. No one has refuted that claim. He's a fricking townie. Change your damn vote.

Outing yourself as a role if you are a townie is suicide and is a part of Khush's "Mafia: 100 sure fire ways for the mafia to rape the townies" playbook.
I LOVE that book. Was a #1 bestseller for 17 weeks in a row.
Yeah, rub it in don't ya. Dammit, why has my book, "stevey's 100 ways of carrying out a Vendetta in the Mafia," only sold 17 copies. I smell a rat...
