Don't know if I'll buy this--it'll depend on the price. Quality of the port is an issue, but also, I just suck at 2D fighters. Beautiful game, though.

Do the MvC games play like SF2 or differently? I'm avoiding SF2 ever since I learned I can't play that series AT ALL in SF2 Anniversary.

The basic commands are like SF2, but it's more fast-paced and you generally have a lot more stuff going on at once (assists, projectiles, five super bar capacity) and you play a team of three characters that you can swap out at any time by tagging, counters, or super combos.

I don't really know what it was about SF2A that I couldn't handle but I got regularly beaten by the easiest AI and while I'm not a very good player I'm usually not THIS bad. Maybe it had something to do with distances or something, I recall often flailing around and having attacks fall way short of the opponent when I had the feeling I should be in range for them.

I dunno what it is but the 360 controller just feels awkward for fighting games to me.

Is this an HD remake or just a re-release?

That's also not confirmation. I'm not saying I don't believe it, but someone could have just put this up on the website because they heard a rumor that it was coming out for the 360.

Capcom had a little teaser thing up on their site but they took it down pretty quickly. Also, a guy at Marvel said it was coming out. I really thing these cumulative things are basically a solid confirmation.

I would love Mortal Kombat vs. Street Fighter, only so people can finally see how shallow MK is by having Street Fighter characters and personality right next to them. Also, the World Warriors would totally beat down the MK universe.

To be more exact, it's venom whiffing a venom fang over ryu and getting tagged in on my cyclops on the clown stage
lol, there's no "think" about it
Well, with that kind of distortion (and the fact it's only 3 seconds long) it's hard to tell whether it's the fancy jazz stuff from 2 or the synth remix stuff from 1...either of which is fine by me.

Probably because it has the most horrible and unresponsive d-pad imaginable.
I still don't see why people use the D-pad for fighting games. Aren't analog sticks much closer to the arcade controls on the machine?

Analog sticks lack precision, and are only similar to arcade sticks in shape. Arcade sticks are digital, like a d-pad. They are either on or off, and that precision is important to fighting games, analog sticks have a sort of looseness and it's easy to lose which direction your actually pushing.

no, it's extremely easy of you've played either for any length of time!!

I dunno, I've played umpteen hours of Xbox ports of Street Fighter & King of Fighters and haven't noticed a problem :)

It's really just a matter of what your used to. Lots of people were playing street fighter on the SNES or the genesis, where an analog stick wasn't even in the picture. If you learn on a dpad you'd probably stick with it.
To which you reply, "I was one of those guys who learned with the d-pad, I just know how to get out of the stone age" :)

Haha, actually other then my Game Boy I grew up with consoles with pretty much only analog sticks (N64 and onward), which is why I can't deal with anything else and also why the Dualstrike confuses me so much. Why even put a thumbstick on the thing if it's in such an awkward place?

The demo sucks, it requires 2 controllers no single player demo, no online demo LAME. Since I couldn't PLAY the demo because of that nice little handicap I found some impressions on Neogaf.
+The game looks great in crisp mode on my 1080p monitor. I'm impressed! - Got SLOWDOWN when cancelling from one character's super into another. WTF? + 16:9 mode, yeah! - The background isn't fully widescreen and you can see where it "ends" at the edge of the stages. Sloppy. - The sound quality could be better. The voices sound muffled. - Having the online multiplayer options highlighted like they're available is such a tease. <--- If you select it, it tells you that you need to upgrade to the full version, which isn't current available.
Also on observation, they killed the intro which is lame
Demos this generation downright suck.

I didn't see slowdown or backround edges but I'm gonna try really hard to make it happen if possible
They may have cut the intro just for the demo to keep the size down.

Yeah, the demo does suck. I don't have people over enough to make use of the two-player ONLY demo mode, which totally sucks.

Yeah, it did
but it's not like how the game plays is a mystery to anyone really. It's really all about the look and feel of the game and I guess the demo does its job there.

Well, it's somewhat of a mystery to me since I don't have any earlier MvC game and the closest comparison I have is SF2 Anniversary. Using that as a standard I won't touch MvC with a ten foot pole.

So how does this game fair on the 360 controller? I usually don't like fighting games on the 360 because just something about the controller feels off.

Hello guys! In my own opinion, I agree with Spinnzilla. Fighting games with 360 really sucks, better if you play that game in PS or PS2, because the analog controller for fighting is much better than 360.

Perhaps it's because the 360 Dpad is made of fail, and because the raised convex face buttons doesn't work well for fighting games.
Convex?

Not so much being convex, but they have a lot of resistance and they don't click and hence they are awful for marvel. Analog buttons are terrible and there are better control alternatives for literally every non-racing game

Agreed, for some reason my 360 face buttons sometimes "stick" and take a little time to pop back up and there is no foreign or sticky substance like soda spilled on it. I am still to this day stunned that Microsoft screwed up on the easiest aspect of a controller, the D-pad. But then again the best first party Dpad this generation is on the Classic Controller.

Bizarre...I can't agree with a single one of these complaints and I'm far from a Microsoft partisan. Maybe I'm just easily pleased? And ick on the Classic Controller; anytime I'd have a chance to you it I always pick the Gamecube controller (and it's so awkward connected to the Wii remote to boot). Plus it has the Control Stick in the same uncomfortable position as the Dualshock...not a fan.
