For my first blog entry, I decided to do something a little bit different and create a video blog. In this edition I show off the Japanese DS paddle controller that's compatible with Arkanoid DS and Space Invaders Extreme.

I really like the idea of NWR growing into video content. Web 3.0! I do have one question though: How can Mister Freeze survive outside his cold suit?
I'm bald too :(

hahaha Jonny, I put that in there as a little Easter Egg. I knew somebody would comment on it.

Random Arnie-as-Mr.Freeze quote "I'm afraid that my condition has left me cold to your pleas for mercy". Now that guy had range.
I think I'll pick up the game first, and then look into getting my hands on the paddle at some point later. It does look very effective.

Lex Luther previews the paddle. Awesome.
I'm surprised to see that the paddle sticks out quite a bit from the GBA slot.

Probably so it'll fit into an original DS.

True, but I would bet there are more DS Lites out there than there are original DSs, so they should have considered the DS Lite population unless of course for hardware reasons they could not shrink in any practical way.

It's because the DS Phat is a man's handheld...

Well, they had two options - one, make it so it would fit into both the original and the Lite, although it'd be a little big sticking out of the Lite *or* make it smaller where it would *only* fit the Lite, screwing over everyone who has an Original DS.

This video post is great, please do more whenever possible :) If you don't have a tripod you can make one (http://lifehacker.com/software/diy/diy-waterbottle-tripod-222576.php) for like a buck. I can't wait for the Space Invaders review!

I can't believe I have a Corey Feldman voice. That's depressing.
I have a tripod. I'll use it next time. And I'll make up the bed.

I BOUGHT THIS PADDLE. IT'S A WELL MADE PADDLE, NOT CHEAPLY MADE AT ALL. IT SPINS AND CAN BE USED FOR SPACE INVADERS, BUT LOL I DON'T HAVE SPACE INVADERS SO I DON'T KNOW IF IT'S GOOD OR NOT FOR SPACE INVADERS.
and lol at most of the comments in this about baldness more than paddle.

No worries, you don't sound anything like feldman, not sure why I pictured you like that. Anyway, keep the videos coming, good stuff!
Note- I wonder what the other RFN members sound like, any ideas?

His baldness is clearly the focus of this video. Since he can't actually use the paddle, the only takeaway is the fact that he's super bald. I mean, I wasn't aware of the paddle's existence until now, but I also wasn't aware of Jon's lack of hair, either. I'll consider getting the paddle when I see how it works (and maybe if Jon can grow hair) in his next video (I assuming it's coming), and consider it more then.
He's bald.

Hahaha. Yeah, as I was saying "Well, I don't have Space Invaders yet..." I realized the inherent silliness of this "look at my shiny paddle" video, but what the heck. People were legitimately curious about it, so I figured I'd show them what it's like.
Don't miss my next video, in which I buy a new game, tear the plastic off of it, and then tell you that I'll film myself playing it later because I don't have a Wii yet.

Technically, I have hair (full head of hair actually), but I shave my head really close out of preference, because I look (even more) absurd with hair. But I can live with bald. I have big, bald shoulders to carry the weight. Wait, what?

Kairon sounds like Antonio Banderas.
If I weren't as tired as I am right now I'd be busy photoshopping an image of Antonio Banderas as Zorro cutting the Majesco logo in something with his sword.

The only thing to be embarrassed about in that pic is the streaks of brown running through the lawn, you're hair looks fine. In fact, it looks like the type of hair where you'd be able to grow a decent fro. 8)

Whoa, whoa, whoa... what happened to that "full head of hair actually" you were touting not that long ago?
Anyway, using the picture you included as a comparison... I think you look better with hair personally.

Hey, just because I have hair doesn't mean my hairline isn't receding. Having a receding hairline doesn't mean you're bald, it just means you're creeping up in the corners, if you know what I'm saying.

A wise man by the name of Billy Joel once told me at a concert, "You shouldn't see it as getting less hair, you should see it as getting more head." With that said, I have a full head of hair that I intend on keeping for as long as possible, but I'm also not an old man like Lindy.

WHAT THE HELL. Amazon is usually so good too, I don't know what the deal is.
I reported to them that you have been attacking the huge holiday sellers that happen to be casual games, and in turn they decided to delay your shipment. Sorry but I had to do it for ethical reasons!

Dude, don't use Amazon to get your games! I have been cheated out of stuff from Amazon WAY too often to ever go back. There's a Penny Arcade that perfectly captures my feelings on Amazon:
Gabe: Have you gotten Space Invaders Extreme yet?* Tycho: Nope, I ordered it using Amazon's "you send us money, we never ship it to you, ever" feature! Gabe: Wow. You should check the mailbox. What if it came? Tycho: *checks* Nope, not here! Gabe: It'll be some awesome when you don't get it.
*That's not the game they're discussing in the comic, but it works here.
I've had the game since its release, and it continues to doll out awesomeness on a daily basis.

Amazon rules. Just ask Nick.
On the bigger games (Soulcalibur IV, Madden '09) they now offer Release-Day shipping, so you're pretty much guaranteed to get it on the day of release.
However, every once in a while they do screw you, especially on pre-orders. They're improving on that front, though.
