Rygar for Wii, Ninja Gaiden DS, and a new Tecmo Bowl were all discussed.

Tecmo held a press event in Japan recently and several games for Nintendo platforms were discussed. A quick run-down is below, broken up by platform. It is apparent that Tecmo is indeed supporting Nintendo platforms this generation, as was previously evident when Ninja Gaiden: DS was originally announced.

DS

Wii

  • Project Rygar - This will be a brand new game in the classic Rygar series. No gameplay was shown, but Rygar's key weapon, the Diskarmor, will be controlled using the Wii remote.

Unknown

  • Tecmo Bowl - A teaser trailer for a brand new Tecmo Bowl game was shown that didn't feature any gameplay. It was described as a brand new game that will come out in 2008. When discussing the platform, all that was said is that it will not be on the platform most people are expecting. I think it's safe to say that both Wii and DS would qualify as unexpected, so consider it a possibility.

Cool, I for one enjoyed the Rygar game for the PS2.

I loved the Rygar for PS2 as well. I'm glad the series is making a comeback to a Nintendo platform. Rygar is just effin cool.

Actually, it's nice to see so much support from Tecmo overall. I wouldn't be surprised if we see some fighter using the Wii remote or a Ninja Gaiden for Wii. Now all we (read: I) need is a Deception game where you could trigger traps with the wii remote. That would be unbelievably amazing.

I loved Rygar for the NES and liked watching a friend play the PS2 version. Maybe we'll get the NES Rygar on the VC now. That would be cool. And a new Tecmo Bowl game would be cool. When does EA's exclusive NFL license run out? I'm guessing it's just this year and that is why we're hearing about new football games being made.

How cool!

This got me to thinking... it's nice to be on the side with the excitement this time. It seems like every day there're new announcements of something cool coming to Wii or DS.

RYGAR! TECMO BOWL! Holy crap, who would have thought Tecmo could announce games I would actually care about?

You just want to see the Dead Or Alive girls on the sidelines in cheerleader outfits, AM I RITE?

Could Rygar be the definitive third-party game to show off the Wii's hardware that a lot of people are waiting for?

NinGurl69 *hugglesMay 11, 2007

No, because this is Tecmo and Wii does not have a hard drive like the original Xborx.

ShyGuyMay 11, 2007

Holy Crap the video of Ninja Gaiden DS looks amazing! Better than some Wii games face-icon-small-wink.gif

darknight06May 11, 2007

Of course it looks better, it's being made as a premier title. If more companies did that for the Wii we wouldn't see a lot of the crap that we do now.

Tecmo was pushed into this position because they have little to no PS2 games to port, unlike EA and Activision.

Y'know Pro, I think you are sadly on to something.

But seriously, while FFCC GC wasn't very fun, it was really nice to look at...
