Yeah, pretty much. I'm not even really a fan of Metroid (I'm way too shallow a person to enjoy its richness), but damn, this game rocks. It's almost got an RE4 feel to it. I dunno, that could just be me.

I could buy Metroid Hunters right now but I won't. And I probably won't be buying it for however long it takes to get to Australia. How long is that, by the way? Weeks? Months? Years?

Sorry, too tempting.

this is a fun game, off-line and on. though i did play online more.

it does make me want a larger stylus... and some sort of contraption to hold the left side of the DS while i play.

I never had any problem playing the demo, but for some reason this game hurts my hand ;__; (to be specific, it only hurts my right pinky...)

I guess I'm having fun, I'm not sure.  Wi-Fi seemed pretty cool, no problems, very fast, very smooth.  The problem is I had played single player before and my hands hurt.  I won anyway, pwned some noobs and such.  Single player was about what I expected.  Huzzah.

The first battle with Kanden blew my mind I was just like wtf, his morph ball worm thing was awesome, and the first boss battle also made me go Woah!!! Yes if you haven't bought this game yet buy it, you will not regret it, I dont have many DS games but this is definitely the best one so far.

Although I have to add I hate this game. It made me think, holy crap what the hell is MP:3 gonna be like on the Rev. Maybe that's just me, but my anticipation just increased tenfold.

I see far too many people here who have it who haven't added friend codes to the friend code section.

Get over there!!!

Interesting happened at GS with Hunters, they gave it an 8.6, then pulled the review after they realized it was full of errors.

I LOVE the touch screen in this game, I really really do! You know, moving that map around with the stylis feels so good and natural compared to an analog stick. If  the revolution gives me that same kind of feeling with games on the big screen, then man am I in for a treat. I've only played about  2 hours into the game, and I must say its pretty impressive. I never once touched the demo and befor I actualy baught the game I thought it was going to be a complete waste. I don't think I was ever more wrong.

I've logged a little over three hours into the main game thus far and I'm 26% complete.

Anyways, the single player is a bit disappointing, but not as much as I originally thought it was going to be. It's barely a Metroid game. It's an action game with adventuring tendencies, instead of the other way around as every other Metroid game is. There is some backtracking to open up new areas, as is finding weapon upgrades and some morph ball puzzles, but not nearly enough. This is the Metroid FPS we all were fearing when Metroid Prime was originally released.

Now if I put that bias aside for a second, the single player is enjoyable. It's a fun FPS, the best ever on a handheld.

But really, multiplayer is where this game shines and that is where the game will have it's longevity.

I'm with ya, I love every single little thing about the single player mode but it feels like it's own beast. But I like that beast! I can't wait for Jonny's review, it'll be a startling display of tact for him not to tear the thing into pieces.

You know I understand where everyone is coming from that it feels different, but I still don't think it feels like a traditional FPS.  The Atmosphere and the pacing is still very much traditional Prime. You still are moving in around in enviroments that are seeping with personality searching for clues to the story and upgrades.

I find that battles with the free look controls just become more intense and engaging then they were in Prime...although I do miss the dashing dodge moves from the original Prime series.

My favorite part of the single player mode is the battles with the different hunters.  I have only faced two of them, but each one has been different and surprising engaging and challenging.  It feels like a nice blend of fighting a boss with a pattern and fighting a Bot with more random and situational AI.

The WiFi multiplayer is fantastic.  I just wish that during the quick match games they didn't have health powerups to collect.  It is the one element of deathmatch in any game I can't stand...because you are not on equal footing, and someone can retreat to gain more health.  (BORING)  However, Prime Hunters even has it more annoying because you can double up your straighting health.  I was losing bad in all my matches until I learned that.  Now I immediately run to get 200 health before I start fighting...I find that pretty annoying to have to do.

By the way, I think Nintendo is proving with the DS that lesser technology does not mean a sacrifice to graphics quality.  Yes you could make this game look prettier on the PSP, but the experience is fluid, engaging and the graphics are already breathtaking.

Anyone worried about the Revolution needs to just look at what talented programmers are pulling off with the DS and shut up.

I can't decide if I like or hate the health powerups.

On one hand, they add an element of strategy to the game with alt forms and using them to escape to grab more health mid fight.

On the other hand, they make it a great deal less like conventional FPS experiences.

It's all about the alt forms.

Because they move faster than regular forms, when a player is in trouble, it allows them to transform into a quicker, smaller target while they go locate health. In previous FPSs, running from combat seldom worked because characters are big targets and slow. MPH changes all of that.

I think it's just about impossible to kill a Sylux player who heals early and often because Sylux has the fastest alt form in the game and siphons health with the lightning gun. If a Sylux player runs for health before they drop below 100, they're basically impossible to kill.

Wait a minute... Sylux syphons health away? Meaning he takes your health and adds it to his own? If that's true, that seems ridiculously unbalanced, like he would have the obvious advantage over everyone. I haven't really experimented much with him yet, so I don't know if that's true. Does he have a weakness? Can he syphon your health away when the other player is in alt form? Again, I might just be talking out of my ass.

And someone else kinda touched on this, but this game has gotten me even more pumped up about Metroid Prime 3. If Retro can make the action sequences more like a true FPS AND maintain all the Metroid elements the first two Primes had, we will be in for a treat. One second you'll be switching visors to find the hidden morph ball path which leads to an upgrade and the next you'll be jumping over some space pirate, blasting a plasma beam through his skull. Who ISN'T aroused by that thought?
