Like, what if Meteos had items in the game where u stored them (I'm not saying whether or not this would be a good gameplay idea, just an example). It would be hard to use the desired item while moving things with the stylus. So its used for simple things that make things quicker.
Kind of like voice recognition on cell phones, right? I like that idea. The game learns how you say it and so it's less likely to misunderstand what you say.
Yeah!! I was just about to say that, "like cell phones". I actually, was of the mind that voice recognition for things like changing wepons or giving commands on the fly because of the limitations of current voice recognition. But yes, if you were prompted to pre-record your pronounciation, like voice dialing on cell phones, then this could be a very pratical and well implimented feature. The only downside to this method is that the DS game card will have to store recordings, so you will be limited to how many commands you can store. But, I really dont see that as being a huge issue unless your trying to store over 100 commands.
Man, I could imagine. Pikmin DS where you just say the word "RED" and Olimar automatically seperates and takes the red pikmin.
Now, how about some other uses of the Mic? Well, while I've never played the game, I think a DS version of the DreamCast game SeaMan might work very well on the DS, the whole, pet in your pocket/nintendogs type deal. Once again, I never played it, but perhaps a game like Karaoke Revolution, or some other type of music game? Then there are the odd ones, like the voice commanded cook book coming to Japan, as well as the voice translators. And, of course, there would be the obvious VoIP or some sort of Voice Chat in the vein of Metroid Hunter.
