Source: Ds advanced!

This is a super simple site that translated icons into the Mario Kart Decals. Dsadvanced is actually giving away 3 Ds's with Mario Kart in a contest over there so those who dont win PlanetGameCube's art contest might want to check it out there. In the meantime heres a few icons made by moi!

Remember that the actual icon will look like the tiny icon in the upper right hand corner.

The limited color pallette makes many things I tried fugly, including just about every Luigi image I tried, but this program is certianly more convenient than doing stuff in GIMP. Remember to resize/crop to a square before using this thing, too!

Well the color palette has been just fine for me, it's just that the program doesn't give you the "best fit" sometimes...So I've just been using it as a rough draft and manually editing it myself...

surprisingly, most Samus dekals end up being actually really nice. I try it just to test it and didnt even resize them or anything

At least Ill be entertained trying to pull out a decent mantis icon while I get my DS until the end of the month (yes, finally!

You can't hotlink from their service, it's why they are in php format. Anyway, those Samus ones are amazing!

Excellent. Did you wind up getting one locally, or did you find a place that would ship it to you for under $60 USD?

yup, its based on the name of the insect (Im a bit obbessed about them), but back when I made it up, almost 10 years ago now that I think about it, I though that plain "mantis" was kind of simple, so I played around with the word, you know how is when you are thirteen and want to create something l33t for a nick heh, now Im just very used to it.

I wish! no, I decided to expend the extra money, the fanboy in me didnt accept a "lets wait til a price drop" for an answer damn you Nintendo for making me poor . Ill probably get all the GBA goodness Ive missed since those game are cheaper, and maybe just one or two DS games for a while. And I hope wifi at college is compatible, or Ill be going online until next year when people would have probably lost interest in the game

This application sucks. The image I submitted to it uses a total of three colors (black, white, and red) and the emblem it spit out is using at least 7 colors including green and grey and yellow WTF!?

If you have it already in three colors just resize the image to 32 x 32 pixels and you are ready to go.

I love the Icon creater. I was able to create my PGC avator as a descent Icon for Mario Kart. It definately is a tool that you need to tweak colors on...but it works!
