Nick I was wondering if you guys are still doing the monthly Wii and DS release dates still. I think Neal was doing them.
As far as the games launched I will probably get Phantasy Star.
They became too much of a drain on me to get them up with regularity. I'm hoping that down the line, we'll be able to bring them back in some form, but as of now, it's just a really tasking job to carry on each week.
I'm glad rookie developers are getting their chance on Wii, but I find myself not enjoying their initial games as much as I look forward to their sophomore efforts.
When I played it at an event a few weeks back, the guy showing it off emphasized that.
I'm still not enjoying it all too much. The sound's good. I think it gets too dark. I just get a lot of that "rookie developer" vibe, kind of like The Conduit. It's not terrible. It's just not great.
Yea, I also talked to this guy a little bit at E3, and the passion he has for the game is very high. I hope it turns out to be as good as his enthusiasm makes it seem.
I think that Capcom is investing a mild amount into this game and hope that it does well. I mean, there's this grand plan of more media with Spyborgs, but it just has this really bland feel to it. At least in the old cartoony art style, it was very unique and distinct. After reading this interview, I have higher hopes for it, but you're right GP, it's probably going to bomb.
I wish that Interviews could just get the standard article treatment and get Talkback threads automatically created, but because its under Specials and those can have multiple pages, it'd get really messy. For future interviews and such, we'll have links on the front page.
Not to sound mean, but it's not that I want attention, it's the fact that I think that most of the interviews here have had good responses and it's a shame that they get ignored. Also, most of these interviews are about games I care about, so it's not different than someone in the forums carrying a torch for certain third party games.
I initially asked the question in this thread to see what could be done better; what the forum members want. You guys all present good points for the most part and I'll definitely keep them in mind for the future. I'll try to get Nintendo interviews (a little more difficult than some of the smaller guys) and Pro, I'll keep your comments about abstracts in mind.
Believe you me I write for myself for certain things i.e. everything about Academy of Champions, but the majority of what I write is (hopefully) for everyone. And that's the nature of news journalism. Do you think the Associated Press gives a crap about what they write about all the time? Do you think everyone here is into every review they write?
But seriously Pedro, you in so few words called me egotistical. There's been some smarmy comments on this topic (see responses to the Go Play City Sports impressions. To answer why there are impressions there, it was the sacrifice I made for playing A Boy and His Blob), but those are some bold words to say, man. And that's probably one of the worst things anyone has said to me in the forums (and remember, I did give Sonic Unleashed a 4.0 )
I still get the vibe that the abstract could've been "Free stuff for anyone who reads this!" and you still would not have cared.
I've tried different things, yet still all of these interviews get ignored by the forums. Considering the work that goes into them, it sucks to have little to no response about them.
I played the next title in Majesco's Go Play line recently. The game, Go Play City Sports, is a lot broader than the first two games in the series, Lumberjacks and Circus Star, which suffered from a lack of variety.
City Sports is offering six different city sports: stickball, kickball, street hockey, jump rope, handball, and shootout soccer. For this demo, only stickball and street hockey were available for play.
Stickball compares favorably to most Wii baseball titles, and offers a similar control style wherein the Wii Remote's motions are responsible for hitting, pitching, and fielding. It's genuinely fun, and the city touches make the game a lot better. The bases are trash can lids and the like, and home plate is a manhole cover. There are also city rules for this sport. For example, if the ball bounces off the buildings that line the field, it's still in play. During the demo, I robbed my opponent of a home run because the ball ricocheted off the wall and into my player's glove. Unfortunately, I also gave up a home run because the ball bounced off the wall and became a four-bagger.
The street hockey, which takes place on a roof, was very reminiscent of a similar sport in Deca Sports 2, except better. My main issue with Deca Sports 2 was that almost every shot on goal went in, but City Sports doesn't do that, and it doesn't even have a goalie. Instead of a goaltender, there is just a large cone that sits in goal, waiting for players to slap the puck at it, hit it out of the way, and score. It makes the game a lot more fast-paced and more of a war of attrition. It controls well, making use of both the Wii Remote and Nunchuk with motions controlling the strength of the shot.
Like the two earlier games in the Go Play brand, Go Play City Sports also seems to have a good personality and sense of humor. The different teams that you can choose range from robots to rabbits, and the characters are cartoony. It's a nice aesthetic, and hopefully the finished product will be a good, full-featured sports collection when it launches next week.
Check below for gameplay videos of three of the other sports: handball, jump rope, and kickball.
Mangini's not saying anything but everybody in the media is saying that Brady Quinn has pretty much locked up the starting job in Cleveland. This is excellent news, and hopefully we can con somebody into taking that no-talent bum Derek Anderson for somebody decent. This may be the year the Browns pull themselves out of the cellar and attain mediocrity!
That's a realistic goal. I wish the Brownies the best, but they still got a ways to go. Hopefully Mangini can do something.
It's looking more & more interesting though I still wonder why they went with only 2-player co-op.
I've got to agree with that. Why have three characters if you're only going to have two-player co-op? There might be some other explanation, and in all honesty, it's a small gripe in my opinion.
I was unenthuiastic about Spyborgs after E3. Now I'm more enthusiastic.
Quick question to any person who reads this: Why do these interviews get no Talkback love at all? Is it because you have to go to the actual site to read them?
We weren't saying whether or not it was a comedy, just whether or not it was a good movie. I guess it's the case of knowing what you're getting into, kind of like how I've seen a lot of people hate Funny People because they expected a straight balls-to-the-wall comedy.
That'll be my part of the marathon. I'll just play Mega Man Soccer the entire team and curse at how stupidly designed the game is, and then go and play Tiny Toon Adventures Acme All-Stars Soccer and feel better about life.
